Great news for ITV. It's exactly what they need, good returning series.

Great ratings again for New Tricks last night, 8.28m (35.2%), maintaining above 8 million and beating Eastenders and 1 episode of Coronation St. This could be its highest rated series yet thanks to Show Me The Funny.

Is Big Brother still bound not to be broadcast live due to swearing, or was that just for Channel 4 only?

With it now being confirmed as Wed 17th, i wonder what time they will opt for to start. Hopefully it will also see a boost in ratings for OKTV, which i have to say came across quite well yesterday in its tribute to Amy Winehouse.

Great rating for the Cricket on 5. Seems like Channel 5 are getting some good ratings at the right time with Big Brother around the corner. Good night for BBC1 with another great New Tricks rating. EastEnders slightly low but nothing of concern, I suspect soap ratings will fluctuate a lot more now with the Summer holidays, but EastEnders more due to its skew. Things should return normal in September, providing ITV do not throw a spanner in the works with Red and Black's scheduling and begin it at 7:30pm with it on until 9pm.

Good share for Emmerdale on ITV1, Coronation Street so-so for a Monday while I'm extremely surprised Show Me the Funny did not drop further. Good stuff from them recommissioning a few dramas today. Alright night for BBC2, Channel 4 so-so, good for Dispatches but a series low for Embarrassing 'overexposed' Bodies. I see next week it is Embarrassing Fat Bodies - Back to the Clinic. They really know how to overexpose their 'hits', don't they.....

Edit - Good news that Big Brother is launching on the Wednesday as well.

When is Waterloo Road coming back? If it's back before the 17th, they could go for an 8:30pm start. ITV's football (if they do indeed choose to have a fixture on ITV1 that night) will be entering half time at that time.

It wasn't due to swearing, that is just what the press picked up on. The broadcast times became later and there are restrictions in place about when they can/can't film with a live crowd.

Starting on a Wednesday is a good move, and if BBC1 and ITV1 still have poor offerings, Channel 5 could well see themselves winning the 9pm slot. When was the last time that happened?

Some stand out ratings for last night, 8m figures for EE & CS x2 are very good for late July - no sign of a slump, Emmerdale getting back to decent figures also. Excellent for NT, very few dramas can hold on to 8m+ viewers on a warm evening like last night. A reasonable audience share for BBC2 from 8.00-9.00pm, up against two soap juggernauts. Embaraasing Bodies still pulling on a healthy audience for C4 and Five quite well for the entire primetime slot. BBC3 got healthy numbers for the 10.00-11.00pm hour. This time in (26/07) 2010 overnights in brackets, for comparison.

Oh, i always thought it was specifically stated due to BB7 swearing in the live finale, there would have to be a significant delay on screening.

BBC have published what they will be showing for London 2012, along with the 'one to watch' which from Friday 27th July you can guarantee the majority of the 'one to watch' will be on BBC One. They've highlighted the following events as the 'ones to watch' which I expect will form the BBC One schedule - obviously as you can see below, not all will be on BBC One(!): http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olym...2/13690129.stm

Press 'SHOW' to see it, longer than what I thought it was, so have hid it in spoiler tags...

I do wonder if ITV will try and adapt their schedule around the big events, I don't think many people will be tuning into Fencing in a hurry, but on the other hand the Swimming and Athletics in week one (both ITV soap night) will draw big numbers and putting soaps on there would be stupid in my view.

Also, the above shows - in contrary to what I said earlier I know - that the News will not be on at the same time everyday, that appears near impossible.

London 2012 - Primetime Schedule

I deleted everything pre 7pm finish from that BBC list and we get the following highlights, some of it does not look that enticing, there are 10 evenings of Athletics/Swimming plus 2 Ceremonies - 3 'blank evenings', one Hockey & one Fencing. I am surprised to see no Cycling or Diving highlighted in primetime, with regards to the medal prospects. My suggestions are in brackets.

There are swimming or athletics finals EVERY single evening.

There are swimming finals on the first night - ie Sat 28 July. Why someone has not included them on a list of highlights I don't know. But there are swimming finals that night and they are bound to be on BBC1.

Swimming finals - Sat 28 July to Sat 4 Aug every night

Athletics finals - Fri 3 Aug to Sat 11 Aug every night

(So 2 days overlap in the middle but first night of athletics on Fri 3 Aug is fairly quiet).

The Track Cycling is all in the 4pm to 7pm slot so it will not clash with swimming / athletics finals.

But it WILL make a 6pm BBC1 news very awkward on certain days, if not impossible.

not to drag the topic back to EE, but soemone mentioned its 9 episodes not 8, and I said well it should probaly just take those two weeks off, and try not to make up the episodes anywhere.

Those two weeks account for the last 8 of the 9 episodes.

I would just like to say the Friday episode could air as the 2nd half of the Thursday episode, give the show time to build to a cliffhanger, and a real treat for EE fans, at the same time meaning only 8 episodes are "missed"

The demos certainly paint quite a different picture on Saturday nights - the list below lays out Saturday nights ratings with A18-49 in brackets. ITV comes off even better when you look at 16-34 - Penn & Teller on 4.7, Harry Potter on 4.1 and the highest BBC1 show (Casualty) on 3.5.

The Marriage Ref is definitely a total bomb, though. Even with a decent skew, the overall numbers are so low that nothing can save it.

I wonder how close the boxing on Five came to the top demo ratings of the night?

BBC1:
7.10pm - Tonight’s The Night - 3.7m (3.9)
8.10pm - National Lottery: In It To Win It - 5.51m (4.6)
9.00pm - Casualty - 5.07m (5.3)
9.50pm - Lee Mack’s All Star Cast - 3.05m (3.7)

ITV1:
5.20pm - Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets - 3.52m (4.9)
8.15pm - Odd One In - 2.83m (4.4)
9.00pm - Penn & Teller: Fool US - 3.28m (5.3)
10.00pm - The Marriage Ref - 1.44m (2.5)
