are any m/c ratings reported any more? DS seems to have dropped mentioning most. Would love to know how the ITV4 football did last night. There was a good buzz about it, but I wonder if that translated to viewing figures?

They haven't done Primetime Shares either rather annoyingly, I think its because Alex Fletcher is covering for Andrew Laughlin this week.
.As for Tuesday's primetime shares: BBC1- 23.7% ITV1- 13.8% (+1: 0.5%) BBC2- 8.6% Channel 4- 6.7% (+1: 0.8%) Channel 5- 5.6% |

I was surprised to see Casualty on BBC Press webstie as well, also I really am starting to favour EE going off air, it really never gets the chance to do a cliffhanger to cover a two week gap, gives the show a really chance to do something specail.
As for things like Holby City and Casualty, well I think they can take two weeks off without the world coming to an end, but I fear if they do people will be complaining about the non stop sport on BBC. |

BBC One had a mediocre night. It's a shame they're not taking advantage of weak commercial opposition to try a new drama/comedy/documentary in those slots instead of a bunch of filler and repeat. It was a stable rather than brilliant night for BBC Two with all their programmes just sitting above the 1m mark. ITV1 did well in the 7pm hour but the Harry Potter clipshow tanked; I expected it to do better. 24 Hours in A&E is a great performer for Channel 4 -I just hope they've learnt from flogging other brands to death that that isn't the way to go. The 5 News at 7 is pathetic, but they are competiting against the established Channel 4 News. Is there anywhere else they could move it within PSB regulations? They'll be pleased to pull in 1m+ later in the night. |

The Rugby World Cup on ITV looking good - one of the best sports presenters at the helm, and all home nations games on ITV1. Quote:
New US drama Pan-Am has been picked up by BBC Two.
http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/i...030287.article Seems to be a more of a BBC One type show to me. Most US sites are calling it a 'primetime soap'. Interesting to see Broadcast say it's been sold to CTV - just to check but do Canadian channels buy in US shows individually or do they have agreements with the US networks? Quote:
Olympics 2012: One Year to Go 3.2m
Wonder if this was worth the 150 staff sent out to cover it? Quote:
Just noticed on the BBC press office that Casualty seems to be starting its 26th series a good 3 weeks earlier than usual on 13th August - no break between series this year! If it still follows the 48-episode series length, I'd imagine this is to clear the decks for the Olympics next year.

2 former Doctor Who actors (David Tennant, Sophie Aldred) to lend their voices to new CBeebies animation Tree Fu Tom. It could be Ace. (Do you see what I did there? OK, I'll get me coat...)

That's nothing new - it's been happening for a few years that one series pretty much follows the next with the break getting shorter and shorter. Yes but they've always stuck to a September date for launching each new series - this is the first time that they've premiered a new series in August, without even as much as a week's break in between. |

Providing Casualty has no break round Christmas, episode 48 of the next series will be on 7th July. I do suspect it might have a break at Christmas though otherwise there would be episodes on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, so if it is not on then, it will finish on 21st July, with Olympics beginning on 27th July 2012.
Does anyone know if it is stated anywhere on the BBC website how many episodes of EastEnders, Holby City, Casualty etc are in the next few years, as it were? Not sure if that makes sense, I'm sure it normally says somewhere how many episodes are intended to be produced and screened within a specific time period. Maybe I'm wrong. ![]() But you've got Eurovision, plus Euro 2012 football, so with that it should finish the weekend before the Olympics. |

Maybe the RUWC could be the biggest thing ITV1 mornings have seen since 2003. Well at weekends it would make a change from such dire fare as the Coronation St Omnibus and This Morning Highlights, which have been complete filler that struggle to get 6 pc of the audience. However, non fans can probably enjoy a lie in knowing the peak time programmes won't get interrupted.
Incidentally last time the RUWC was down under I slept through the final safe in the knowledge I wouldn't have to feign interest in the evening in the pub. |

Which is why I think BBC Two needs to be 'broader' than normal, appealing to more of BBC One's audience than usual with perhaps some BBC One drama being given a 'first look' on BBC Two over the Olympic fortnight. It can easily be repeated if need be.

And the Olympics itself ticks the 'broad' box for BBC1. Of course too there are options beyond the BBC for non-Olympic fans too - though whether ITV, C4 and C5 admit defeat or instead see potential in attracting a non-Olympic audience I don't know.
ITV could do worse than basically replaying crime drama every night. |

I wonder what Channel 5 will do with Big Brother. Highlights at 10 is a given (hopefully), but evictions may be more difficult. Maybe a straight 1hr 30 show from 9.

The Euro 2012 rights havent been awarded yet...
I think that excludes Regional etc (if anyone is trying to reconcile back to the presentation slides) but the key point is it's the same as this year. I took that to suggest it's maybe unlikely ITV will be going for the whole of Euro 2012. OK, they have no RWC but even so other budgets have already been cut a lot over the last couple of years so it looks pretty hard for them to fit the whole of Euro 2012 within an overall flat budget. |

As long as they broadcast it free to air on all platforms, technically anyone could bid for Euro 2012. By the time the Championships air only Kent will still have to switch over, meaning any broadcaster on every platform will have the required 95% of the audience anyway, although I think the figure is already in the 90s anyway.
Even Sky could pick it up. It hardly fits their business model, but it would be interesting. They'd get to brand it, use the whole championship to promote their products and crucially get it off the BBC and ITV and plus they would get loads of ad revenue, which would pay for it itself. They'd could just chuck PickTV, PickTV+1 off Freeview and create 'Sky Sports Euro 1' and 'Sky Sports Euro 2'. Unlikely, but I wouldn't put something like that past BSkyB. |

Just breaking that Sky will share F1 rights with the BBC from the start of the 2012 season. Half the races on the BBC, every race on Sky.
Must say I am quite shocked that the FIA are happy for half the races to be on pay TV. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...066182,00.html Deal runs until 2018. Head of Sky Sports Barney Francis hints in his blog that Sky's coverage will be ad free during the races, http://corporate.sky.com/skyviews/sk.../f1_sky_sports |
