Well, I can cope with direct language. Accepting himself as a gay man, but not as a gay man and a father, for many, demonstrates that he is not FULLY accepting himself as a gay man with the same needs and rights as a straight couple, to have a family if possible.
That's all it is really - and I've seen this coming.
It doesn't bother me in the slightest to be honest. This is a hurdle that Chryed have to go through, and part of Syed's ongoing journey - it makes it believable and interesting.
I'm not sure if it will develop further - or be dealt with quite quickly.

There's plenty of draaaama to milk from it by having Syed actually voicing his doubts about it, bringing up the religious aspect of it all, which hasn't even been mentioned. There's plenty of scope for conflict, and even a temporary split, in fact they could do it exactly as it sounds from the spoilers, but just leave out the bit about Christian being willing to sacrifice his relationship with Syed for a child. They could just as easily have Christian agreeing to drop the adoption if it's not what Syed wants and Syed then coming round to the idea, so it would be what they both want. It would make no difference to the eventual outcome of the adoption sl, so why destroy everything Chryed stands for in the process?

Yes, not only will it affect how I view present/future Chryed, but it will taint their whole back story for me too, it will make a mockery of my investment in their whole storyline, I fear I wouldn't be able to watch old clips without thinking, Poor Syed, he doesn't really love you that much
But I'm still holding onto the hope that JP was just being an arse that day (like his alter ego can sometimes be), and we will see Christian, once he's calmed down and thought things through, crying and upset at the thought of losing Syed, and wanting to try and work things out with him, and not just the other way round.

IDK. I think accepting yourself as a gay man is a very different thing from accepting yourself as being a gay man and a father. I appreciate the sentiment behind it, I just don't like the way JP's phrased it, particularly the 'come out of the closet' part. It makes it sound like Syed hasn't accepted himself being gay, when he has. He never anticipated having to reconcile being a father with being gay- he gave up the chance to be a father when he left his home as far as he knew. So I can understand that he'd have trouble with it, but I just think that line of interview could've been more delicately phrased. It doesn't bother me- I complained a lot about Syed's thinking it was morally wrong for men to raise a child together being done and dusted in a line. That would have been an interesting angle if they'd explored it in more depth, but they didn't at all. Well, yet.

Hi JN, it doesn't sound good does it? I'm not giving up yet, but I'm clinging on for a lot more sensitivity in the scenes that we've seen suggested so far. You're right, it could have been done another way, I wonder why this way?

I'm kind of banking on Christian - in his state of major relief upon opening that door - will grab Syed and tell him to forget all about that crazy baby thing, it was a stupid idea and all that matters is that he's back. I want him to go totally overboard (which might still make sense with Johnny's mad interview, because he'd be going totally ott and not meaning it 100 per cent), having being faced with the prospect of actually losing him and having realised that he'd do anything as long as it meant Syed would stay
- only for Syed to laugh and admit that he's actually changed his mind.
I won't be able to stand it if it's Syed making all the effort, which has bothered me before. Christian acted terribly throughout surrogacy, yet Syed ended up having to do most of the reassuring and making up - similar thing happened gay bar week. Forgivable then, but not so much now. By the looks of things, they both make mistakes next week, so it better be equal this time. Yep, even you, stubborn Mr. Clarke.

I would post my thoughts, but I'm honestly too tired! Was actually glad that I only had 40 odd pages to catch up on as opposed to the 130 that I had last night.
Really quickly about EE - I'm just going to come out and say it..
I find them utterly hilarious, and I can't stop laughing. The biggest thing about them that I love is the simple fact that they're light entertainment. It's small scenes where I can completely laugh at how amusing they are. I'm looking forward to more scenes from them! Just take them with a pinch salt.
