What I am looking for is a one off payment, no contract involved, PAYG card for an IPad. Who does the best deals and which service provider gives the best coverage?

Any help gratefully accepted.

3's is the by far the biggest 3G network in the UK, you can pay £20.99 for 3GB of data for 3 months, or £10.49 for 1GB of data per month

T-Mobile PAYG and buy internet boosters at £20 for 6 month. They do have a 500MB fair usage but they aren't very strict with it.

3.

I don't know about the iPad, but you can get a SIM card with 3GB of data for £15, which lasts 3 months. On eBay etc they are slightly cheaper.

But they are fairly cheap, have the best 3G coverage (alongside T-Mobile), and are usually fairly good in terms of performance.

i too have a 3 sim in my ipad. simply payg, i rarely use 3G, normally on wifi so its handy to be able to use it as/when needed. its 50p for a days data (120mb I think?) which for very occasional use is ideal. in 3 months ive spent less than 2 quid on it!

of course if your going to use it more often a monthly plan would be better sense, maybe http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsu...rcode=1SO0D011

fiver a month for 2gb?! pretty good!

I bought one of these which I think is good value at £10.99 for a 3 sim card for 3 months mobile broadband. It is not a micro sim and therefore has to be cut down to fit an iPad. Amazon sells a little gadget for the purpose.

After the initial three month you have to pay £10.49 a month on three which is expensive imo compared to £20 for 6 month on T-Mobile which is only £3.33 a month.

Before comitting to and providers, use their websites to check coverage, remember that data coverage differs from phone coverage.

I have an Orange card in my iPad - I opted for the 5p per mb. When I took it out last year, It came with £10 free credit - I only use the mobile option once a month, so I stil have over £7 credit remaining!

Nothing stopping you buying another 3GB/90day sim for £11-ish on eBay.

True but more hassle and people have a tendency of forgeting things like that.

Another vote for 3 here. I pay £7.50 per month for 1gb. I use to have a dongle until I switched to this plan when I got the iPad 1 last year never looked back. Some people might disagree but there customer care and support is top notch as well when I first got my dongle they sorted it out no problem when I struggled at first setting it up ( something to do both windows Vista). I am on a rolling month by month contract with the 30 days to cancel.

Got one and I'm very happy with the 'mobile' aspect of my IPad. I still use my broadband connection around the house but find the 3 3G brilliant for out and about.

You get much better deals on a rolling monthly contract. You can end these easily with a months notice. I pay £15 for 10gig on Three.

On a 30 day rolling contract on t-mobile I pay £10.26 for unlimited Internet usage and 0.5gb downloads (normal Internet usage does not come off the download allowance).
