Hello DS peeps,

As the posts says, I'd like to know what is the best MIFI deals and best coverage....also if anyone has used them, are they any good? I'm looking for either monthly or PAYG options.

Many thanks guys!

In terms of coverage, 3 or T-Mobile are the way to go. I can't tell you how good it might be in Kent (it can't be worse I'd have thought) but I live in Cornwall and I get 3G coverage just about anywhere.

3 is usually cheaper and better value, so it may be worth looking at them.

I've been very impressed with the 3 mifi. Was away in a tiny village recently and had 3G connection there whilst my O2 iPhone sat there telling me minimal GPRS service, so ended up connecting to the mifi to do anything.

Best thing to do though is check the coverage maps as the places we go might have great coverage, but where you want to go is crap cover!

Thanks for the info...Does 3 use the o2 network?

No. Which is a good thing, because O2's network is dire.

3 own their own network (well, they share parts with T-Mobile) and very good it is too.

I am on a Three 15GB a month for £15, 24 month contract and plug my dongle into one of these to give me wireless coverage:

The only limitation is it needs mains power.

So you could use (maybe you already do) the 3G for broadband and scrap your home phone line?

I have 3 mifi, and I love it, only once have I not been able to get a signal, and that was in a field.

I am on a 2 year contract and have 15 GB a month for £18.00 a month.

I have a MiFi from 3 (Huawei E585, the one with the monochrome display rather than the coloured LEDs) on PAYG and it works great all over the Tyne and Wear area. You will find that if you are anywhere rural (a village or small town) not near a major transport route, that you'll get no 3G signal, and as it cannot fallback to any 2G network, you're cut off completely (short of hunting out a nearby business with WiFi access for customers, or wandering around a housing estate in the hope of stumbling across an unsecured wifi connection).

For me it is no substitute for a home broadband line as I do tend to eat lots of gigabytes quite frequently and there are no mobile broadband plans which offer unlimited data. Certainly not unlimited data for around £10 per month. Another £10 per month for 1GB on the move is nice to activate occasionally if I'll be away a lot.
