Variety (spice of life) or stuck in the mud

I was watching Jamie Oliver's Italian series the other day and after being shot down for his recipies he had a rant about Italians being stuck in the mud. They only like what they are used to and won't accept anything different whereas the UK is willing to try new things.

What do you think and which one are you?

Definitely true about Italians. Wherever I go in the world you will only ever find Italians eating in Italian restaurants (OK, or McDonalds) even in places like Amsterdam or Brussels where most "Italian" restaurants are actually run by Turks.

It is generally true in France as well. Apart from Indochine ready made stuff in the supermarkets and a little bit of North-African influences, they tend to stick to their own traditional cuisine.
They cannot eat sweet and savoury together either, but I suppose that is more personal as general.

I am not stuck in the mud though when it comes to food.
