TNTsat card renewal
It's been pointed out to me that the website for ordering replacement cards is now live here:
http://renouvellementcarte.tntsat.tv...:NAVGAUCHE:MEA I haven't gone very far through it yet as my cards have nine months left, but they seem more interested in a French address (naturally) than they are in what receiver one has. Which makes me wonder whether there is anything to stop n'importe qui ordering a stand alone card without having a receiver at all. I had assumed they'd want details of the old card (for example its serial number). As I say, I haven't gone to the end to see if there are questions of that sort. They also ask for a phone number. Maybe someone will report back as to what the full stages of the process consist of.... |

I have been through the first 3 pages and it looks like it's just a marketing ploy by Canal+/CanalSat to gain more subscribers. There is no request for model/serial/card number - they simply ask you to tick a box if your current address is not the same as when you bought the box. The downside seems to be that you need an address in France to be able to renew the cards

Just been on to the website and ordered a new viewing card. It doesn't let you use a non-French postal address and it didn't accept my UK debit card details but did accept my UK credit card okay.
The tick box re addresses is to enter a different credit card billing address than the delivery address you enterand you can tick a subsequent box to opt out of future marketing. |

I have understood from other threads that some linux boxes, multiplecryptCAMs, and even a Technomate multicard reader could manage to activate such a card. I have been reluctant to go the route of a linux box or special cams. Is there any definite experience of people who have used a Technomate or an Icecrypt or an official ViaccessCAM with these cards? Hopefully asking this and any answers remain within the topic of replacing / reactivating / activating new style cards. |

I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that the one CAM that these cards won't work in is an official Viaccess CAM!!!! Even if it's been updated to the latest version.
But I imagine that if the new cards are being sold to "anyone" without questions asked about their existing equipment then it won't be long before at the very least there's a network of people with the boxes activating the cards for those that haven't got boxes. Certainly the cards at present seem to be swappable between boxes, and my HD TNTsat receiver works fine with the two cards that came with the two SD boxes, which is more than can be said for Fransat where only an HD card will decode the HD channels. |

Thanks
My main motivation is to get more HD channels so I ruled out upgrading my multilnb for the FTA availability of F2,3,5 on 5W and (perhaps) temporary FTA on 9E of TF1. All only SD. This leaves me with choosing between Fransat and TNTSAT as I also don't want to pay yearly for Bis. Either Fransat or TNTSAT mean getting a dedicated receiver unless I could be confident that sourcing a card only for use in another "not too hobbyish" box would work. So a Technomate or an Icecrypt or a ClarkeTech are on my shortlist, but not a DM or Vu+. But big issue is having an extended 7 day epg which could require plug-ins on the above or be impossible. Am I right assuming the bespoke TNTSAT and Fransat boxes give you a fully populated 7 day epg for the channels in their bouquet and can read the 7 day epg data from those other broadcasters that provide it such as ARD, ZDF, BVN all on 19E? Sorry, the breadth of this starting to go a bit off topic but there are several similar threads ongoing at the moment. |

TNTSat and Fransat both only have now and next EPG.
I use my TNTSat card in a Dreambox which has a plug-in to download a 7 day EPG for the channels from the internet. I would think you could get similar on a Technomate. An important thing to note is that the Technomate would take just as much setting up to enable it to decode TNTSat with a card as a Dreambox does. |

Thanks for this too Adam792, that is quite a shock really and seems to be quite a significant failure if there is no longer epg data broadcast as part of the TNTSAT and Fransat platforms.
The next complication is whether a DM TM etc will in any case provide the HD channels. I seem to have read they won't. |

There was a period where they didn't earlier this year but now the HD channels decode fine. My original box is an SD Strong 6410 (which is terrible in my opinion
). My Dreambox is HD and I can get TF1, France 2, Arte and M6 in HD on it with my card.

Renewing TNTSat card from UK - how, please?
Just wondering if people have successfully renewed their TNTSat card from a uk billing and postal address, or have had to find a workaround somehow.
Could someone please share their successful method, if possible? Thanks in advance. Nibbos |

Nibbos - the answer is yes, but goodness only knows where the thread has gone. However, I think it was simply a case of putting 99999 or 00000 into the postal code box and then making sure UK (or R.U.) was clearly shown in the address. Certainly a couple of people had received cards in Britain that way, and assuming they (Canalsat) bill your card correctly the worst that is likely to happen is that the PO will charge you excess postage, although I think the envelopes were in fact correctly internationally franchised.
Maybe someone can find that thread - I can never get the SEARCH function here to work in any meaningful way..... |

I did this a while ago with a dummy French postcode and my UK address with Royaume-Uni written. The TNTSAT card came about three days later and was correctly franked for delivery to the UK without extra postage costs.

sordax - It would be nice if someone could give you a definitive answer, but to be honest I doubt there are enough of us here that are interested in French TV for there to be a regular stream of experience for you to draw on. I know that €15 is €15 but it seems worth a go to me if you really don't have any friends/contacts in France who could apply from their own address.
Bon courage en tout cas.... |

Hello again, I've just tried it and you can enter the post code with 00000 or 99999 but during the payment section they can not allow to order the renewal after credit card section. There is a popup message which says " post code which you enter is not correct" I think that it doesn't work anymore.

I think the idea is that your address comes out something like:
23 Railway Cuttings East Cheam 75001 London L1 1AA Angleterre and the automatic sorting equipment in France sees "Angleterre" and routes it that way, the UK sees London + postcode. At worst it'll be read by a human who will figure it out. |
