Good News. This method still works
Received my card today. Providing I insert my card before 31/12/2015 I will get 4 years from that date |

That is good news! Never over-estimate just how dumb an automated postal dispatch system can be. But the bit I love is that it even presumably puts the correct international postage on the envelope!

Great to know this still works! My card expires at the end of May. I got that one as a replacement for my original one (bought in France in 2008) via this method in 2012!
I'll get a new one ordered ![]() Yes it does have the correct international postage printed on the envelope IIRC from when I last did it. I suspect they don't mind turning a blind eye to it considering they get 15€ a time... |

The franking was only 60cents, which seems quite low for international postage, but i don't know what the rates are. Only took about 3 days too.

How do people enter a UK address?
I have a housename, area, town, post code and United Kingdom or maybe Royaume-Uni to enter. There is a "Complément d'adresse" field but how long can the entry be? |

As a test I entered 99999 as the code postale, and then went on through the form and you can enter a great deal of text in the complement d'adresse box. Certainly enough for a British post code. Depends if you can risk 15 Euro - if you're going to be in Annecy anyway.....

I have found http://magasins.boulanger.com/11483-...-annecy-seynod
in Annecy. Would you expect me to be able to walk in and just buy a card for 15 Euros or less? Alternatively, would buying this decoder make sense http://www.boulanger.com/ref/8000779 ? |

No, you can't just buy a card on its own in the shops. It's ALWAYS in the box with the decoder.
The postal/online system is officially to order a new card for an existing box. But there's nothing to stop you using that method other than the risk that without a French address your application will be the one that is "caught"; but to date that doesn't seem to be a problem. That decoder is the correct box that you need. The card will be in the box with it. |

If it's any help to anybody....I bought a CI+ CAM and Fransat card from TVCorner.
Held my breath as it was going in a Sony Bravia TV. which although not on the approved list, the Company said it should be OK. Absolutely no problems with reception or clearing. The only gripe I have is that you can't reorder channels and an EPG for now and next and not 7/14 days. |

@ sealion - you're of course quite right, you can buy a card+CAM combo for Fransat. Don't think you can for TNTsat but I should have been clearer perhaps for machare.... But from what I've seen the card/CAM combo is almost as expensive as a straighforward Fransat receiver. But in your case I imagine it's the ideal solution.

Can you record using Sealion's setup? I mean, if you added a PVR could you then record Fransat and whatever method of receiving English-language channels the TV has?

Regarding recording.......The way I record from the TV is via a USB Hard drive plugged into one of the USB ports (USB 3).
I only wish that I could use my VU+ Duo2. The interface is only CI (no +). In every other aspect the Sat box does everything I need and more. I read that it might be possible to use the CAM and card in the box ( by using another software image) but I am more than happy with the image from OpenVix. |

@Sealion. I plan to use a TNT card in my ET9000 which is running Vix. Someone has manged to activate a TNT card using Vix, but I hope to use the one from the receiver I plan to buy mentioned earlier in this thread.

I did start a thread on the dedicated Forum ( World of Satellite) regarding use of CI+. The Moderator came back with some horror stories of the dangers of a CI+ system and what the Providers can control. Also be careful.....I took my Fransat card out of the Strong box and tried it in the TV. Oh dear! I lost everything for about three days but eventually the card reset itself and all was well. The shop accused me of "card sharing" which totally untrue. |

I am very interested to hear more about your findings.
It works, I can receive the TNTSAT HD channels. What I can't do is get the card to work in my Xtrend Linux receiver with tha latest version of Vix. I have tried a few possible configurations, but without success. I suspect that the problem might be that I have the latest Version 6 card and no one else has managed yet. I can add UK channels but I have yet to find a sensible way of changing the order. |

If you mean the order of the TNTsat stations you won't be able to change it; it's set in stone by the CSA (roughly Ofcom equivalent) and Canalsat observe the ruling to the letter. However, you should be able to change the order of other channels, normally they are memorised starting at position 1000....

I have been unable to change the order of the UK channles that I have added. I suppose that I just need to add them in the order that I want. Thank you. One feature that I like is that the box supports Diseqc 1.1 It is a pity that there does not appear to be a suitable CAM.

That's odd machare. On my Humax there is an Edit Channels facility and once in there one uses a button labelled OPT+ to move individual channels, or start a block selection which allows you to move several at a time. However, I don't know how similar the software is across all the receivers so obviously yours may be different.
Maybe marceljack will be able to help, he seems to be familiar with all the differenct versions of receivers..... |
