Beyonce v Nicole Scherzinger
I wonder whether I am the only person to see comparisons between Beyonce and Nicole Scherzinger.
Both were successful in American girl groups (Destiny's Child and Pussycat Dolls) but appear to have had more varied music solo than in their groups. I have preferred some of their solo songs to anything they did in their groups. (Admittedly I did have a fave Pussycat Dolls song, namely Hush Hush, but not a fave Destiny's Child song.) The parallels don't even stop here. By this time in 2009 my fave song of the year so far was Halo, and at this stage this year it is Don't Hold Your Breath! |

The parallels seem quite personal to you. The only comparison I can see is that they are both the breakout stars of their respective groups but the same can be said for Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams etc. I don't see that many comparisons honestly... And Nicole is nowhere near as talented as Beyonce.

I think Nicole shone in the Pussycat Dolls as the undeniable star, much like Beyonce did in Destiny's Child (although, the latter offered much stiffer competition to be fair), but I think after watching them both go solo (judging their respective solo debuts)...there is just a HUGE difference of star quality there.
Outwith the band of dancers, it becomes apparent that although Nicole is talented...she doesn't ooze the charisma and potential superstar that Beyonce did so effortlessly, IMO. Compared to her peers, she's almost unremarkable despite her talent superiority. It's Jessie J syndrome. The songs might be temporal hits, but does anyone really give a shit? Perhaps it's unfair because she's at the major disadvantage of not having a 'Crazy In Love' level hit to kick things off with. I don't think she's going to get that working with RedOne, who is simply spreading himself too thin producing for anyone who asks. My advice for Nicole is to find her niche, something that allows her to shine. We have Gaga, we have J Lo, we have Rihanna. She shone as a dancer on DWTS, there's beauty and grace to her...combined with those smokey vocals, there could be something special there. Something more akin to a cabaret starlet. After watching her performance in Rent, she could be a broadway star moreso than her contemporaries. Very much including Beyonce, who I think is just too flawless at doing Beyonce to pull that off. |

I would like to start off by saying I like both Beyonce and Nicole Scherzinger. However I think you can't really compare the two as Beyonce is a far more established and successful female artist. Yes they both come from girl groups and have both launched musical careers in the pop industry but that's about it.
Like it or not Beyonce is one the most iconic and celebrated music artists of this generation, whereas Nicole Shcherzinger is just a popular singer who really hasn't proven herself to be a force to be reckended with for example as a solo artist she has yet to break into the US market with her music. The overall point i'm makin' here is that you CANNOT compare the two, as Beyonce is a global superstar and icon whereas Nicole Shcherzinnger is just kind of startin' out as a solo singer and has long way to compete with the biggest entertainers of her generation i.e. the likes of Beyonce and Britney Spears etc. Beyonce is head and shoulders above Nicole Scherzinger. To compare the two actually doesn't really make much sense as they are not really in the same league at all. |

Beyonce of course
Nicole is a slight underated talent. Great voice, good dancer and could maybe be a good entertainer. However, the music she has been given (regardless if it has done commericially successful) isn't amazing and is rather forgettable. Pussycat dolls should of stayed toegther because she showed everything as a complete package when with them. |

Nicole is very talented, a good singer and a great dancer. She has good stage presence and has a certain amount of Star Power, but compared to Beyoncé? Ridiculous. Beyoncé's a better performer, a better artist and is much more talented. She's got that star power where she could walk into a room and all the oxygen goes her way. Nicole doesn't come close.
As toanythingtaboo said above, Nicole doesn't have a notable fanbase, she's just that woman who has a few catchy songs.

Beyonce. Nicole is only a success now because she's Simon Cowell's new pet poodle. Her cockiness and arrogance really grates on me. She'll be as flash in the pan as Cheryl was, and she's not done too well in the US solo.

Beyonce all the way.
I like Nicoles voice but in person she seems rather robotic and kind of fake. |

Definitely agree on weird comparison.
I like Nicole, but she isn't in Beyoncé's league! Beyoncé has a better voice, and is more natural as an entertainer and performer. She also has a more versatile voice. Beyoncé is way more talented in my opinion. But I like Nicole. Still weird comparison. |

The fact this thread is comparing a woman who is a icon in the music industry to a pop tart is pretty laughable. I like Nicole but if you want to compare to someone let it be Cheryl Cole or Rihanna.

There's not even any competition, Nicole has hardly proved herself as a solo artist yet.

Sorry if this has been mentioned previously, but Nicole's latest video (sorry cannot remember the name of the song) did seem very indentical to Beyonce's crazy in love video. I like Nicole, but not that keen on her music at the moment, for me she hasn't come out with that killer song yet.

I think Beyonce outclasses Nicole in pretty much every category except taste in men lol. I think they are about as pretty as each other but Beyonce is a better singer and performer imo.

Lol, okay I get your point with Cheryl but as much as I dislike her you can't begrudge Rihanna's success. The girl sells by the bucket. Not the most reliable of sources but a quick look at their respective wikipedias (and linked articles) would suggest that Rihanna has sold more records than Beyonce has as a solo artist. |
