Disappointed Melody got fired
River 07

At first I only liked her because she's hot, but I genuinely warmed to her.

Regardless of whether did well yesterday or not, I think Tom should have gone. [I genuinely think the nodding dog was put there to take the piss out of him.]

I think if she addresses the issue of her need to appear strong and in control at all times and allows her vulnerability at times to be visible - all the points she said she'd learnt from the process - then she'll do very well in life.

She's come in for a lot of undeserved stick on here as some sort of pantomime villain but I reckon she's quite decent really. Just compare Zoe's exit last week with Melody's this. Did Zoe have the grace to embrace anyone? (admittedly Melody didn't want to embrace her but when Tom did he might as well not have bothered).

Melody needs to stop speaking like an over-affirming counsellor or management guru and get on with applying herself - she clearly has some talents - a lot of her calls during the series were correct - but 1. she rarely listens 2. she behaves as if she is very ambitious for herself (and nobody else) 3. her speech if so clouded with BS that what substance there is, gets lost.

she may be a nice person and is quite a looker, but she looks like she needs to show more of a hard core of substance.

With all due respect, I bet she's far more successful past, present and future than you and me and 99% of the posters on this forum. Laughable that she needs to take advice from us.

Yes lets sack a contestant who did what the task entailed, sell. And lets keep someone who failed to grasp essentially the job of a market trader..

Agreed. I actually like her. I did not think she deserved to be fired yesterday.

I liked Melody, but I would have fired Helen rather than Tom.

Melody was not a teamplayer and wanted to hog all the credit for herself. She was also a bit bullshitty. Obviously very talented but needs to grow up a bit and stop trying to be king of the castle all the time.

Tom easily should have gone. No matter how he did on this one task, Melody had much more to offer in the long run.

Given she saved the world at 13 we are already in the long-run.

Exactly.

I think Sugar knows Tom won't win; yet he keeps him week by week as some kind of pet gimp.

I believe Melody will be greater than all of them one day.

She annoyed me the last two weeks but I thought she was better last night. In the end I thought either Tom or Helen deserved to go over Melody based on both the task and previous tasks.

She was awful and truly deserved to go.

She's an excellent saleswoman. And she's motivated, determined, energised, hard-working, independent.

Despite all those things, it was right Melody was sacked last night. Tom didn't really do anything wrong, and whilst Helen slipped up, she's been a stronger candidate overall.

Alan Sugar is a product man. With Tom, he can see the products - knows the sort of business partnership he will have. Tom clearly has skills as an innovator/inventor, add that to the business aspects LAS brings to the table can bring success.

With Melody - I think fundamentally, LAS couldn't see what the business would be, and one key thing Melody lacked was the clarity to say what she actually did. Her CV boasted of many accolates, but didn't count for much in the final assessment.

Over the past few weeks her business instinct has been wrong, such as:

1. Manipulating the results of the Paris focus groups to get the outcome and product she wanted, and also failing to provide her PM with information regarding the major retailer they were pitching to.

2. Biscuits as the new popcorn - that nobody liked. The idea of a role-play in the pitch (where were these made - in heaven?) etc.

3. In the last task - failing to buy products that would sell in favour of items she liked the look of.

Let's be realistic here. The task was about reinvesting and selling. Tom sold and understood the idea of reinvesting. He did NOT deserve to go, not on the basis of this task anyway. Granted, you didn't want Melody to go, but saying Tom should have gone instead is a bit silly.

I know we only 'see' ad hear a mere fraction of the boardroom elimination process, mainly to fit it into the program, but from what I could 'see' is what tipped Sugar over the edge with Melody is when Karren Brady suggested to him how long boardroom meetings would be with her.

[I think it was Karen who said that.]

I must confess, I actually missed the 1st 19 minutes of the show, but Tom's overall performance or lack thereof was enough in my eyes to sack him over others.

1st time or 100th time doesn't matter that much. It's your reason for being there that pushes or keeps you.

I liked Melody aswell, and don't understand the criticism she gets from posters on here. She is successful, determined, ambitious, confident and hardworking. She is obviously someone who is very talented and intellectual, having been able to speak around 5 languages I believe?

I think these attributes will see her continue to be successful in the future.

It was Karren who said that, but I don't think Sugar needed to be told Melody would be a nightmare to get on with.

All certainly true, except successful because we only have her word for that. When it comes down to it she's basically a voluntary worker with a website/CV which dresses this up as something rather more substantial. She could name-drop for Britain, or possibly the World. Oh, and did she mention her awards at all?

Melody apparently runs motivational and inspirational speeches to young people telling them how to foster links and co-operate.

Funny how in this show she has shown her complete inability to co-operate with anyone, or inspire or help or encourage. If I ever needed anyone to motivate any young people I have hanging around Melody would be the last person I'd ask. I don't think this exposure has done her business any favours at all.
