After 5 years in oz her mum couldn't speak English....

wonder how they got over her??
My parents' English wasn't great after a lot longer than that. I was sorting out all their paperwork and other official stuff until the day they died.

I don't get it - I thought, unless you were from inside the EU, you either need to be a paying student, or get points for your job...

It was almost ten years ago.

How many people are there in this country who aren't from the EU and can't speak a word of English?

I'm just intrigued - especially thinking at where China was at 10 years ago.

I feel dense because I'm not sure if I understood what you mean. Top five most popular non-Asian destinations are Canada, Australia, Britain, the US and Germany. (With Britain, most were from Hong Kong.)

Yes perhaps she was in danger in China her Mum and her as a single parent and fled the country
