They just seam to have all disappeared:
freesms.net, studentuk, textmessenger.co.uk,

is there a new law against this or something?

I think that there is a couple of free sms sites around, but can't remember the name of them

There is no law against them, it just costs the company too much money to carry on doing these things for free

You could also try www.mtnsms.com This site is a little tacky but offers international texting and message delivery/status reports.

Oh and if you have AOL got to Keyword: SMS

or Keyword: Texting.

Send as many as you want and its much quicker than going through any website

hmm well tried all of them and most were down, or had server error please try later messages.

And theres no way too find out what there texting back too u.

Tried AOL inbuilt SMS and that was the best and quickest... but theres no way again too see what they text u.

ICQ SMS is still No1 service out there, shame its down.

Also, don't forget Uboot if you fancy sending the odd anonymous text, though don't make the same mistake as I did and make your username so bloody obvious that anyone you send a text to knows who you are!!

sorry, just noticed this one is in already!! Having timeout problems and I haven't got a clue which messages i'm sending are going on or not!!!

www.excite.co.uk You have to register and get 3 (!) free messages a day. The service is reliable though.

Like I said before ICQ SMS text servers dead, it was working a few days ago but now all I get is

Message had gone thru xxxxxxx network
then 2 seconds later its receiptant didnt receive message!

ICQ SMS tech emailed me and said there having high resource usage at moment and are currently doing everything they can too expand there SMS service.

IE- everyone caught onto the Free ICQ sms service and overused the service grinding it down too a halt... and they have no idea when its too go back up.

will try this one:

http://www.mtnsms.com/

although AOL SMS messagers very cool, in fact my mates send me a message and some how it ends up coming thru ICQ !!! but as an unknown person so thats freaky...

My favourte is mtnsms but they have started restricting you to sending only 5 messages per day. I also like Uboot but I cant receive replies on it

Uboot do let u reply to SMS messages now and is the best site I have found. It is reliable 90% of the time. A top tip is to send yourself a test message putting the time on the end. They usually come thru in 10secs.

Have tried mtnsms but this does not work when I test it (on the homepage) on either Voda or BTCellnet.Am I doin something wrong??

ICQ's SMS is working fine for me. Although I'm using ICQ itself rather than the webpage.
