What sweets do you remeber buying as a kid in those plastic screw off jars?

I used to love Bon Bons, Tom Thimb Pips, Aniseed Twist, Pear Drops. Just a few of the classics.

What were your favourites?

Cola Cubes, Pineapple Cubes, Sherbet Lemons.

Blackjacks and Fruit Salads.

Cough candy.

I always used to get a quarter of gummy bears and a quarter of cola bottles during my lunch break. and a sausage roll. and a dripper (lardy cake). Good job I used to play a lot of sport to work all those bad-boy calories off!

I'm also partial to a sherbet fountain still.

I used to like those PBUs. Left a nasty taste in the mouth though, and got bored of them eventually.

Does bring back wonderful memories doesn't it. The shopkeeper scooping the sweets onto the scles and watching impatintly as the needle bobed around the quarter pound mark.

My fifty-odd year long addiction to wine gums started by buying quarters of them!

Yes, shorts and jelly sandals all summer , togs on the bushes to dry , we roamed the cliffs and the rocks and caught crabs . One gobstopper lasted most of the afternoon !
Crisps with a little paper twist of salt .
And a big threepenny wafer cut off a block of Neapolitan Ice Cream if we got lucky !
