Kayli or however you spell it. Coloured fizzy sugar that you used to dip your finger in and suck. It used to stain your finger.

here is a thing, i don't really like sweats that much, chocolate i love but "candy" never been a huge fan of..... when i was a kid, one of my parents friends was a sales rep for Harribo, and had circular tubs (1p each) of cola bottles and gummy bears etc in the boot of his car which he'd hand to us whenever he visited, i remember just thinking how i wish he worked for cadbury! sigh..... kids!

That's not a proper sherbet fountain.

A proper one has a cardboard and paper tube, with a licorice sticking out of the top.

I used to get 2oz of sweets in a triangular bag. Kali was my favourite. I would get a sour tongue!

I also used to buy one sweet for a farthing - black jacks and fruit salads.

Can't do that any more because people would steal the licorice stick out of the top, or else just eat/chew on the bit sticking out of the top (kids mainly) I remember seeing a kid at it and the parent didn't care one bit. Could also have been done for Health and Safety and germs and all that

It is a shame.

Anyway I used to get a quarter of Rainbow Crystals. I remember I found a brilliant site (chocolatebuttons.co.uk) years ago and bought a jar of Rainbow Crystals (just like they were in the shops) it was great for nostalgia but I realised a quarter was plenty in a month

Kola Kubes and Acid Drops.

I can't quite remember what Acid Drops tasted like - but I remember buying them regularly as a kid - were they lemon???

Sherbert Lemons, Acid Drops and (in a packet) Old English Spangles.

I don't actually get that sentimental about them though because I don't eat many sweets anymore and we've got 2 retro sweet shops in town.

Alphabet letters in pastel colours.

Sweet cigarettes with the risque and later banned red "lit" end.

Golden nuggets (I think? Or Gold Rush?) - not the cereal, but bubblegum coated in yellow stuff in irregular shapes which came in an alluringly cowboyish drawstring pouch.

Gobstoppers which went through different colours as you sucked them.

I used to hate jelly tots and also coloured fruit Polos which always seemed to get stuck together in the pack.

Back in the early 60's I wasn't supposed to cross the road outside my primary school but I did and bought a gobstopper. As I approached home there was loads left so I swallowed it and it got stuck in my throat. Mum panicked and turned me upside down, put her fingers down my throat to push it down and then rushed me to the doctors round the corner. He rushed me to hospital where I waited for at least an hour to be seen. By this time it had dissolved enough to pass down. I was left with a sore throat but I did get the next day off school.

I guess they don't count, but I loved Nerds and Dweebz. I am gutted that they stopped doing them in most shops, I know you get get Nerds from some websites but I have yet to find the Dweebz again.
