I just wish Leona was given 'Firework'.

Don't get me wrong, I love Katy, but 'Firework' would have been phenomenal with Leona's vocals and a few lyric changes.

But then I do love the way Katy sings it. It's got her quirky-yet-strangely-sounding-passionate vocals on.

In short, she just needs a euphoric, inspirational, explosive up-tempo produced by Sandy Vee which is raped by global radio and is given nothing short of extensive promotion.

oh, the way everyone was going on about it sounded like it was D&S she was working with ha - yeah but Ariel isn't really well known for that sort of sound, he's a very versatile guy so I don't think people need to 'worry' about her sounding like that lol.

I honestly would not like anyone else doing Firework, it's a very Katy song and I can't STAND Lea Michele singing it. I don't even know what song I'd like her to do which has been out recently, I think she needs something a little different to what's out at the moment, but something that would make people go "oh, this is interesting"... kinda like how Bleeding Love was, but not in that style - I definitely liked the sound of her going down the Trip Hop beats route, there's a lot of gorgeous songs from Portishead and Massive Attack that I could see Leona's vocals working over.

As I stalk the popjustice archives to find when the Echo photoshoot took place, I came across this from July 2009:


At least they intended for more than two singles. I guess they just didn't expect the reception. Also, yes Richard you would have been in a much stronger place if you put 'SCENE OF THE CRIME' on the bahloody album!

Anyway, back to my snooping, the video for 'Happy' was shot on September 29th 2009 while the song's premiere was on September 6th. I somehow doubt Leona will be filming a music video this month, since we are all aware of the fact that Syco love repeating their strategies.

Album of the decade

Okay, so the Echo photoshoot was on August 14th with an album announcement on August 24th.

On July 8th (last Friday), Leona was doing the photoshoot for her new album. Maybe everything will happen a month sooner this time around. Maybe we'll get an album announcement by the end of the month, a single premiere in August, the video in September and the album and single in October.

Also, Leona did say that she already had the album title. There was also a report a month or two ago about the album being released late November.

Yep, it's surprising how quickly things can happen! I wonder what she's called the album....

Oh wow didn't realise the photoshoot was so close to the album anouncement last era. In that case we might hear something really soon then, atleast sometime this month.

I think the album will be in November but with 2 singles (an uptempo lead, mid-tempo typical Leona track 2nd). I hope so anyways.

Im sure shell stick with a 1 word title & although a name like "Orgasm" would be right up my street im sure we'll have something like "Vision"

I thought something like "14 Deadly Sins" Would be a cool name although depending on the number of tracks on the album.

Yeah I wasn't really around much for the build-up to the launch of the second era. Did all the major information just come at once? Was there the calm before the storm?

Although, in Leona's tweet a few days ago, she said first photoshoot for the record but then I might be reading too much into it.

Anyway, I'm on holiday from 18th August to 25th August so I hope nothing major happens in between those dates.

Errrrm, I honestly can't remember much. Luckily last time round we had some leaked tracks in March/April to tide us over until September. The first time we knew about Happy was when Ryan Seacrest announced it on his radio show, then not long after we got news that some people had heard it, then it appeared the next day on some Chinese version of Spotify and it finally aired not long after.

I wonder if this era will be as high profile. As I was browsing on the Popjustice forum, I saw that there were many reports about songs, the album and the lead single and they all happened to be around this time (or early August).

I wonder if Ryan Seacrest will premiere or discuss the new Leona single on his radio show this time around. One thing that is scaring me about this era is whether there will be a huge amount of interest in it. I know this era isn't following the monster that was Spirit but hopefully there will still be a lot of buzz worldwide.

Wow. Delighted it's not a Tedder track. Didn't Leona only work with Sandy quite recently? Would be amazing if what they did was so good that it just screamed lead single and like BL was recorded quite late in the process.

I get the sense the first play is going to be very soon, fingers crossed.

So it must be a matter of weeks then? Really looking forward to this. I wish it was a matter of days though lol. Been waiting so long.
