need help with surround sound choice

iv had a samsung with what i thought was surround sound LOL

i had it connected by aux going to the tv for sound on my pc and ps3

but its not proper 5.1 as iv discovered the other day was cousins took proper notice

so im looking for a good surround sound system that will give me the proper sound output from ps3 and my PC

i know my ps3 has a opitcal sound slot
but my pc has just HDMI so what slots do i need to be on the receiver of a new surround sound system

If you get yourself a proper grown up's surround sound system such as this..

Then you'll have more sockets to play with than you can shake a stick at. It certainly won't have any problems with the kit you've listed and a shed load more to boot.

If however you favour the Fisher Price toy end of the market (AKA all in ones) then you won't get the same level of connectivity. You might get a couple of HDMI and a couple of digital audio inputs but would probably pay almost as much for it as the Onkyo which in most cases blows any all in one system into the weeds.
