Microwavable chicken vs non-mcro chicken
Tescos sells a whole chicken you can microwave
Sainsburys sells a seemingly identical chicken whose label says is non-microwavable. Does anyone know what's the difference between the two. Has one been covered with some kinda sauce, or injected with something. Just curious.

Aldi do a piri piri chicken that you can microwave or oven cook. I tried it in the microwave and it was really tough

The Tescos one does come with oven instructions too but being ovenless I can only micro the thing.
I ask because Sainburys is ~10mins away, while Tescos is ~1hr, so if I could micro their ovenonly one I'd be saving myself that looooooooooong walk. |

Microwaving a whole chicken sounds gross. Won't it be a really inspid looking thing as it the skin won't go golden and crisp like it does in the oven?

I don't like even microwaving beans or re-heating last night's dinner in the microwave so I'd never cook a whole chicken in one
![]() Most supermarkets have pre-cooked chickens in their deli section? If you go at the right time of day (not long before you want to eat it) it could still be hot when you serve it ! |

I guess oven cooked chicken would taste better but I don't mind the taste and 14mins cooking time rocks
![]() As for rottiserie(?), yup they dodo that but at 4am (which is when I shop) they don't, and after the 3+mile walk back methinks it wouldn't be so hot-n-tasty

Personally I can't see a problem in heating beans or frozen peas in the microwave. Quicker & easier in my opinion and just as good if not better result.
I stick everything on the hob.The only thing I do in the microwave is scrambled eggs (which I have once in a blue moon)

Jacket Potatoes only take ~12mins for 3 compared with iiuc 17hrs in an oven.
When I see ads on TV saying "give you potato some respect and stick it in an oven, not some crappy old microwave" I think "fine, if you're gonna be paying my electricity/gas bill, if not then fooey to that, I'm microing the beast"

Boil the chicken rather than oven since it's not an option and avoid microwave unless you like your chicken the texture of old rope.
