Foo Fighters Are So Overrated
I'll get straight to the point.
I hate the Foo Fighters, In my opinion they are the most overrated, bland, boring rock band ever to grace the earth. Why radio 1 keeps a$$ kissing the band is beyond me, it borders on a unhealthy obsession. I don't want singers who front rock bands to be the 'nicest guys in rock', I want them hated, unpredictable, volatile, dangerous -that's what makes them become a force, not a wet fart in the wind. Yawn off Dave Grohl, you are boring & so is your boring band. |

I broadly agree. The only songs of theirs I've remotely liked were 'Monkey Wrench' and the one that goes something about "I cannot be without you matter of fact, oooooh I'm on your back" (can't remember what it's called).
And as I am puerile, I always think of their name in my head as 'foof eaters'

What a load of old toot. They have a great back catalogue and a brilliant new album also. I'm just watching 60 odd thousand fans going nuts over them at T in the park from yesterday. One of the biggest and best live acts in the planet.

Disagree. They have a knack of creating great rock songs that not only connect with Rock/Metal lovers but also the casual fan. You have to be pretty talented to do that.
They cater for everyone and do it bloody well. If your into the heavy stuff then you can listen to Wasting Light and "Foo Fighters", if your more into cleaner chilled stuff then there's In Your Honor disc 2 and Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. A brilliant band to see live too. I want singers who produce great music, and live performances. I couldn't care less what they're like. This is a assumption but I would guess you'd like singers to be like Axl Rose? Thankfully Dave Grohl isn't like him. |

is this the same old same old where people confuse the fact that *they* don't like someone, with them being overrated?
thought so. Iain

I don't listen to Radio 1 much but it's annoying when stations play the same band over and over again. At work I am constantly hearing Rihanna on Kiss FM and I have to put on some Muse/Metallica/Foos through my headphones just to drown her out! |

Last 2 albums and some of the songs in In Your Honor have left alot to be desired. I'm glad i saw them at the height of their powers. Now they are just another Green Day, and didn't Grohl say he was having a break from touring in the UK? What happened to that? £££££££££. |

If nothing else, they're a change from the true definition of bland - indie "rock" like Pigeon Detectives, Razorlight, Elbow... |

I suggest you watch them perform at the IOW festival on You Tube from this year. Amazing performers, overrated? Not at all.

I think they are going through the same sort of period that the red hot chili peppers did a few years back. Where they hit a certain formulaic in their music that proved very popular and haven't moved from that. Then one day they shall..
I never was a big fan of them and still am not a big fan of them, but at least it beats half of the commercialized crap you hear day in and day out. |

I like them quite a lot, but it does get samey after a while. I don't think I'd be able to listen to three of their records back-to-back. They're all very good musicians though.
And about Dave Ghrol, I prefer that to any of the "Rockstar" bullshit. That's a tired cliche, and the sooner people get over it, the better.

The Foo Fighters sound, to me, as America's answer to the Manic Street Preachers. But, obviously, the Manics are better.

Yawn off Dave Grohl, you are boring & so is your boring band. Perhaps the solution is for you to go away crank up the volume on some of The Who - say "Quadrophenia" or "Tommy" and listen to something 'dangerous' that is still controversial 40 years on. (try '5.15' 'Can you see the real me?' or 'Dr Jimmy and Mr Jim' from Quod' or 'eyesight for the blind' from Tommy) OK so some of them went deaf and one went dead and they suffered madness on the way, but there were the loudest band in the world and had a genuine Appetite for Destruction. or Black Sabbath in their heyday. (try 'War Pigs') or Deep Purple ('Child in Time' from 'In Rock') what about a bit of Lacuna Coil - (say 'Swamped')? Personally, I like the Foo Fighters too. |
