it's the sauce used in prawn cocktail - can be made by mixing mayo with tomato sauce, or can be bought ready made

18 loaves! That's a huge number of sandwiches and a lot of fillings. Better think of some cheap fillings - By the way its going to take a while. Good Luck

I'd be tempted to do a number of 'secondary' fillings and then 'primary' fillings and link a primary to each secondary.

Eg.
Primary
---------
Roast Beef (buy a cheap brisket, slow cook and slice)
Roast Chicken (whole chicken and roast)
Ham (get a gammon joint and bake, slice)
Corned Beef
Cheese
Garlic Sausage

Secondary
------------
Pasta salad
Tattie salad
Salsa
Lettuce, Cucumber & tom

And then do a number of 'Various' mixed with mayonnaise - split these into 4 and have 1 plain and mix the other 3 parts with 'interesting' bits

Various
---------
Egg Mayo
Tuna Mayo
Chicken Mayo
Beef Mayo
Cheese savoury

Interesting bits
------------------
Chopped pickled onions
Gherkins
Chilli's
Pineapple
Sweetcorn
Cucumber
Chives
Curry powder
Mustard
Sweet Peppers
Red onions

Have you managed to beg a Costo/Bookers/Makro card from someone?

Yeah also like any sort of meat would be good. Then onions, peppers etc. and any other vegetables and stuff you can think of really!

hummous (with/without red peppers) no butter on the bread, great if you have any vegans

Chicken and Chilli Mayo - best making the chilli mayo before you make the sandwiches, very simple, just put some sweet chilli sauce in a bowl with mayo, its delicious.
Cheese and Chicken
Chicken, Bacon and Mayo
BLT
Cheesy Bacon

Cream cheese (philli) and smoked salmon trimmings (cheap smoked salmon and great for sarnies)

All good suggestions here. From personal experience I've found one of the most popular (and cheapest!) is egg mayo with a little cress. I guess it's something people don't bother to do themselves but it reminds them of their childhood.

You say 8 loaves but can you be more flexible? I find people quite like finger rolls ( less filling required ) and I always have cheap fillers like a couple of french loaves and cheese and pickles that people can help themselves to. If it has to be sliced bread, use brown/wholegrain as well as white and don't overdo the mayo as some people don't like it.
