Buying a kindle as a present

She will need a light to read at night. I just have a normal bedside lamp, others use covers with clip-on lights.

The e-ink is much better than LCD when using in bright sunlight but it isn't good for photos etc.

Thanks for that, Jules. I must say I like the look of e-ink, but it'd be no good for my uses.
