Help! How do I link ps3, 5.1 surround to my TV?
I have recently decided to link up my PS3, 5.1 surround sound system AND my TV.
My ps3 is currently linked to my tv with a hdmi cable so i get best picture quality, this is fine for playing Blu-rays BUT if i want to watch my blu-rays with surround sound this is not possible. Basically i can watch blu rays / dvds on my ps3 with excellent picture but not surround sound. I can only get surround sound using my dvd player (which is an integral part of my 5.1 suround) but then i cant watch with the optimum picture quality and i cant watch blu-rays with surround sound. - HELP!!! The pieces of equipment i have are - PS3. Philips home theater system HTS3020. ALBA lcd tv model LCD40781F1080P is it possible to link these three up? I believe the PS3 has an optical cable port, as does my TV but my home theater does not. Please note i only have basic knowledge of gadgets etc. Many thanks in advance!! |

Without a digital input (s/pdif optical or coax or hdmi) on your Home Cinema system you can't get 5.1 from your PS3. For facilities like this you need a seperate Audio Video amplifiier. All in one kit always have limited connection capability altough a few do have one s/pdif input.

For a bit more than that sort of money you can get a system that will eat an all in one for breakfast and spit out the bits.

Since the PS3 is a perfectly adequate disk player there is no need to replace the Phillips system with another system with disk player. So maybe one of these
