Ooh Sid, great thread !

1. Paul ... lovely bloke
2. The Badger ... she was robbed
3. Tre ..... total legend. " It's all tits and fish " is my favourite line from all series
4. Raef ... " I mix with both Prince and pauper "
5. Kate .... lovely girl, though not adept at picking a boyfriend
6. Stubaggs ... pure entertainment
7. Susan ... clued up young lady who deserves to win.

Honourable mention to Ben Clarke. I spoke to him at Belfast airport and he was a really great guy.

For those who watched series 1 was it a big thing back then or is it bigger now

Much bigger now. It used to be a niche show on BB2 that not that many people talked about.

Agreed.

I only started watching because one of the guys came into the office and was raving about Paul selling flowers. I caught it on a repeat showing and was hooked. It was more about the "business" then and I think all of the candidates would be eaten alive by the fame hungry wannabees if they entered today. It's still my favourite series, and if anyone hasn't seen the "wolf" cardigan then they really have missed a piece of Apprentice gold.

I have so many faves from that first series that I would be hard pushed to pick a favourite. James, Tim, Miriam, Paul and Saira were all good candidates and it really was a shame that there could only have been one winner.

Edit: Found the Wolf Jacket on Youtube - Enjoy.

It's odd to rewatch that series, the first time I'd seen it I hadn't realise how obvious it was (although hindsight is a beautiful thing) that James was only on it for the cameras. Nice guy though.

At the time I honestly didn't believe that he was only in it for self-promotion and thought Lordsuralun had got it wrong. As you say hindsight is a wonderful thing but, on reflection it also shows that the programme has always been very heavily edited.

Yes, I laughed my head off when she lost her shoe under the taxi

Are you referring to Pantsman Phil, Buttons? He was a bit of a cock on the show but he's really lovely on Twitter!

I remember almost dying of laughter when I watched that Laura! I know I picked James as my favourite contestant that year but Saira was a close second. That girl really did wear her heart on her sleave.

I actually saw someone wearing one in the street and had a smile to myself!

Even though they won the task (wolf jackets flew out of the window) am I right in remembering that the company were really impressed with Miriam and wanted to offer her a job?

My memory's a bit vague too. What I do know is that Miriam should never have gone before hot-headed Paul. That was a travesty

Yep - she was the star performer but got fired on that task for reasons that still don't make any sense whatsoever (though LAS did later admit he'd made a mistake)

Thanks Jack_Burton.

I've just checked Wiki and the company was Ideal World. It's also interesting to read that although Lordsuralun admitted his mistake he also said that she would have needed to be exceptional in the interview stage to have beaten either Tim or Saira. Which kinda confirms that the finalists are chosen weeks before the interview stage and the viewer rarely sees the real interview process.

Miriam was completely robbed! I remember watching the series, knowing that she was the shock firing, but still when it came, I somehow remained stunned. She was a great PM that task.

1. Paul - cracked me up!
2. Ruth - deserved to win!
3. Adam - not the strongest candidate, but i rooted for him for being a decent human being who was treated like cr*p.
4. Raef - for me no one has touched Raef in terms of his unique personality and dignity under fire.
5. No one really, didn't get in to this series at all
6. Ditto
7. Tom - Has a quiet sort of charm and is highly inventive (if lacking in confidence somewhat

I wanted to smack Katie when she said his best friends were 'Mr. Pinot and Mr. Grigio'.

Horrible, vile woman.

Um, I don't think it does confirm that. It's just saying that Tim and Saira turned out to be very impressive at interview. It doesn't say Lord Sugar knew that when he fired Miriam.
