Damn, did I miss the opening credits ? Tuned in late, the recap was on but then it went straight to the episode.
And the closing credits were all squashed for some C5 promo and the announcer was talking over them.

yea, they showed a much longer recap than usual (obviously in Australia this episode was after a 6 week break) so this came after the new opening credits. (But it will normally come before the credits as usual (from tomorrow I guess) with HAA music over the recap etc).

I thought it was odd at the end too, because the new style credits are made for widescreen so that a promo can be placed over the left hand side of the screen without resizing the credits- but channel five mucked that up because they resized the credits when there was no need.

The new credits are ace. The blue ones we've had (for what seems like forever) have to be the dullest opening credits sequence ever.

The credits change again in a few weeks as certain characters leave, and different characters are put together in the sequences.

I managed to catch the repeat early enough.
Awesome ! Not only the credits look great but the music is also better, not the daggy tune they used for years.

I think their excellent. I've been watching them on Windows Player for ages - they do change alot with Kit and Alex leaving including Kim and the Hunter twins joining.

I was mainly talking about the style.Changing a couple of characters isn't really the same as changing the credits.
Incidently Kane looks normal in these new credits. They should have told him to look evil.

They should have used the scene with Beth going to the hospital after Flynn called her as a cliffhanger instead of Alex breaking up with Hayley.
Apart from that H&A is fast becoming one of the best soap (still n production) around with Corrie. So we would have Corrie, then H&A, then Neighbours, then Emmerdale, then Hollyoaks. Did I forget any ? I don't think so.

Incidently what was the tune they used again today when Alex was walking along the beach before going to court ? It went on a long time.
See that's one more thing they could do, put the names of the bands they played in the closing credits. Neighbours has been doing it for a while now.

The new credits are great - they remind me of the ones from a few years back with everyone on the beach.

Is it my imagination or is the credits sequence a bit shorter so they have less of the song than they used to?

Yeah i know!! I was expecting a scene between Beth and Flynn to be the cliffhanger.

What the announcer said during the closing credits was intriguing

I was listening to the music again (during the closing credits), they could even ditch the lyrics altogether with this version. If you have a listen tomorrow the first 8 seconds don't have any singing and it sounds brilliant. With just the music it sounds so much more serious, that's what Shortland Street did a few years ago.

Yea i listened to it too and i must admit, i do like it without the singing. They should have the closing credits with the music only, no singing.

I remember now what the announcer said, i wonder what he does??

both Neighbours and H&A have a relatively similar style of credits.
With singing and the featuring the actors. In Britain there's no singing and no actors Mind you that's not necessarily better, look at the Emmerdale ones or the closing credits for Corrie (that's the same ones they use for most of their programs). Funy how soaps from similar countries use the same general recipe (credits, incidental music or not...).

Back to H&A, maybe they could replace the singing with some piano notes. Or they could do like Hearbreak High sometimes did : play a track they'd used during the episode as the closing credits tune.

Then the US Soaps have a mix. Most of them show the actors but don't have singing, then Passions has no actors in the opening but does have singing.

I do like the Australian soaps openings with the actors and bright colours with the song in the background.

For H+A, they should keep the opening as it is, but with the new music they have, for the closing they should just get rid of the singing as it sounds good without it. Plus the credits have shortened a Lot since before they changed.

yeah, the old opening credits were way too long.
Even though it's very out of character, it's fun to see kane this way in the credits, and at least he's still kind of isolated if you see what I mean.

In a way Australian soaps take a theatrical approach (they present the actors...) when the British ones try to be very realistic as if the village/street were real, you don't see the characters out of context in the credits (although you see them all the time on other TV programs), there's no incidental music....

Yep, Well I'm a kane fan and even I thought he stooped too low when he does this. Its very vindictive and quite sinister. It's gonna happen at the end of tonights episode.
