Where to buy frogs legs.

I have a sudden urge to eat frogs legs but haven't a clue were to find them.

Does anybody know any place in Birmingham that sells them. Or an online retailer that doesn't charge a fortune for delivery because I only want a small amount.

Amazon.co.uk have them for £35.90

Osgrowonline.co.uk have them for £19.20

thefishsociety.co.uk have them for £9.90 but they are Indonesian and obviously travelled a distance.

I know they are commonly associated with French cuisine but there are also eaten in the far east in Thailand and Vietnam (possibly the French connection there) so you could try a local South East Asian store.

There should be one or two in Birmingham.

I believe that even in France the frog legs are imported from the East. They don't go out clubbing the native frogs on the head anymore.

I think the point is though that you're more likely to find an Asian store than a French one. I guess posh delis or supermarkets may stock them.

I would have thought that Birmingham would have quite a few Asian stores though.

Live on happily ever after !

Actually they do live on - for a bit - as the legs are removed while the frogs are still alive.

Many, many years ago, I saw a reportage on the subject. Never gave frogs legs a second thought, as food I mean.

Thanks for that....

Frogs on crutches....Maybe.

Everyone I know who has tried them said they taste just like chicken...So I don't see the point really!

My apologies, but you did ask.
Yes they do taste like chicken. Haven't eaten any for over 25 years.

Good...

My family live in France, I find the shopping aisle where the frogs' legs and snails are a struggle...
But I'll eat other meat quite happily.

My Grandmother used to have a cartoon of a frog going on his holidays to France and coming home with no legs.
