Hi,
I have recently bought a samsung smart tv which is brilliant ,I play my sky hd box through my surround sound with a digital optical lead, I also want to play my music and videos off my pc through the wireless link (I have no problem with that) but I want to play them through the surround sound as well .as the surround sound only has one optical connection I have bought a digital optical splitter so that I can connect the tv (to play my videos and music from my pc wirelessly)and the sky hd box to my surround sound.
BUT they both play when connected to the surrond individually but when connected to the splitter nothing works,
What am I doing wrong.

Probably nothing, after splitting the source there's probably too much attenuation of the signal (the light source is only a low power red led). Normally a switch is a better option selecting different inputs one at a time.

Are you sure you mean a splitter? Two sources, one input on your amp suggests you need a switch.
A splitter is for one source, two outputs.

I have actually used this system in the far past ( two sources into one optical input ) and it works ---- so long as the sources are used one at a time, obviously. If both sources are accidentally active, then zero output.

Hi Guys,

I have ordered a digital optical switch which has three inputs and one output you just switch to which input you need ,so I hope it is going to work.
