I've watched the first three episodes of the USA BB, and although it has its moments, I think the British BB is much better.

The Yanks are just way too fake for my liking.

Although I agree that some of the stuff if very fake and annoying BB US is infinitely better than BB UK.

Well, I'll continue to watch it, but I find the host annoyingly American.

But it's the housemates. They're all very good looking as if they could be models and movie stars. Only the bald guy is average looking.

It's early days you're right, but it might not be long before the brown stuff hits the fan.

Yes and no. The USA one is very superficial but it can be enjoyed for its trashiness and also the competitive aspects. It is also never as mind-numbingly boring as the UK one.

Most of the cast are actually are models / wannabe actors. Don't believe the 'careers' the show gives them.

As i watch a fair bit (couple of hours a day at least) of the live feeds on UK version and US version (this is the first year i've watched US at all) I can't imagine finding either version particuarly interesting from just watching the round up shows, especially the US version as the shows are only 3 a week.

The live feed puts a different spin on things. Yes it's probably staged at times, but so is Corrie and I love that too

I think the American casts are always a lot more cliched than the UK version, and always have similar types of housemates, but each individual cast is more diverse than a standalone UK one, so it kind of evens out.

The fakery can be a bit annoying, in particular in the Diary Room, but for me that's just part of the campy charm that BBUS has.

You can't really compare the two. The UK is a fly-on-the wall reality show; whereas the US is more of a game show.

I much prefer the US version because they are playing a game and what you get is backstabbing, lying, arguments.

Thanks for your comments. I actually think the black guy has ambitions to be a porn star. I could be wrong, but don't let that Bible fool ya.

What do you mean by that? I don't think the cast is more diverse at all.

An improvement is that (as expected) the tasks seem to have a bigger budget in general. The comments of the HMs to the evictee are effective (but the British version incorporated that anyway).

I was really missing clips and the reaction shots to them in the interview, which I thought was too short. Also there is a tendency to repeat things to the viewer many times as if they are dumb. Everything has to be really loud and emphasised in the editing, in a way I miss the little ordinary things that don't so obviously mean something (but you can interpret as you want).

Although they are both called Big Brother, they are both very different shows.

The US version is all about strategy and gameplay whereas the UK version is more a fly on the wall style show.

I prefer the US version as the UK one has become too samey; you can't truly speak your mind in the British version, always got to be aware that what you say could either get you kicked out or evicted as the public won't like you.

Also the US has better competitions and is just a better produced and well made show!

The US one is so much more better. It's got much petter gameplay. The UK one gets so boring, because the public also vote out the big outspoken characters and all the housemates are too aware of what they say because they will get hated by the public.

The US one is more addictive and has so many twists and turns, it really keeps me hooked!

Imo as game,BBUS is much much better, interesting to see how each of them try different strategy, each week, apart from Keith. The only thing i don't like is the repeats at the start of each episode.

I can't say I like one version over another, they are different.

But who can say they like/dislike the UK version, when nobody has seen the C5 version yet?

BB by CH4 is gone, Davina's gone, so expect the unexpected

BBUK can go in more interesting directions than the US show, as that works to a much tighter formula. But it also never gets quite as bad as the UK one can get, as it is less reliant on the housemates for entertainment - there will always be drama even with boring people (like USBB4 & USBB12) because of the game.

Think about how boring the end of BB7, BB8 and BB11 were in the British shows - everyone was just stuck waiting for the final verdict - in the US version, everyone is playing hard to try to get to the endgame, so it is so much more exciting.

There will be a more personal aspect to the American show though it's just that we see little of it on the HLs. Those who have the time to see enough of the live stream will know that side better I suppose.

But when they do bring that personal aspect into it on the main show it can seem very heavy handed and manipulated. For example the music and heavy handed editing on the Rachel-Brendan spat, or the very forced question to Danielle on why she didn't say she loved her father.

i'm american and i agree that the uk version is much better, but i also understand it's all just opinion.

the american version has it's strong points but i prefer the more experimental aspect of big brother rather than the game aspect of it. i will say though that when the american version really clicks at times it can be extremely entertaining. i remember being glued to the tv for season 8 with evil dick and jen and rooting for jen against the vile one and it was very entertaining throughout.

just depends what you prefer a more game focused experience or a more experimental one.

Way too big a gap between some events and the HLs show. Apparently from what I read elsewhere the Power of Veto has already been decided (don't spoil it in this thread, though I think it's been spoilt for me already). That must be a gap of quite a few days before if actually appears in the program.

Also with the HMs completely in control of who stays it is likely to end up a happy house with nobody that disruptive to liven things up. In the British one where the public have a say some HMs may stay far longer than some of their other HMs might want and that can create more tension.

There aren't enough HLs programs as well, you can't really keep up with what is happening very well by watching the main show.
