Been a lovely warm day here today - bit of cloud but no rain and not too warm. Took Melony out to the local gala to see the daning; her childminder's daughter had done the choreography and it was really good. Did the bouncy castle, the face-paint and a play in the park, bought an ice-lolly each and then had aplay in the garden when we got home. Yay!

I was only taking my lead from Sad who, I think, said she was going to sit in someone's garden. Not sure if PG was involved in her case, though.

Last night a woman kicked me, as I was passing her and three friends (2 women and a bloke), just for saying in passing 'did you have a nice night out'). They were all a bit pissed and singing down the street.

We've had a fab day today - Melony has had it made clear that sensible behaviour = fun stuff, so if she's good today we get to go On The Bus tomorrow to Hobbycraft in town. She's been making a real affort after a bit of a combative beginning to the day, and we've menanged to have a picnic in the park, a play, a lolly and a walk without a single row

Well I'm having a lovely day today! No idea why but I woke up really cheerful and things have been going my way! Actually, they haven't really, but I just haven't cared when they didn't I nearly had a crash which would have been mainly my fault, but fortunately he missed me!

I've got 5 shifts at work this week which means that after a dismal pay to come this week, next weeks pay should be good and hopefully put us back to where we were had we not had an awful week last week. Yayy! What was nice to find out too was that several of my colleagues were taking the credit for me getting the 5 shifts as they had all reminded the boss on the day he was due to do the roster to give me as many as hours as poss and all in school hours - nice to know they care

When I got home and after faffing around with LittlePlum for a while, I checked my emails and found that i have an interview on Wednesday afternoon - eeeeeep! For a proper job with a desk and a chair and a phone and a computer and probably a fax and a printer and a photocopier and all this lovely office equipment - ahhhhhhhh happy memories! seriously though I'm going to have to find my clever head and firmly attach it and plug it in, I might put it on charge now while I remember. This job may be vaguely relevant to my work history, so the interviewer might ask pertinent questions .... in my current mood, I might give impertinent answers, hence the need for clever head and a sober review of my resume to remind me of the person I once was

Bibble babble, you can tell I'm all excited - eh! To be honest, I'm not actually all that hopeful of getting the job, but it feels good to at least get to interview stage. Just in time, if you ask me. I have great plans for today, mostly revolving around tea, toast, and finishing that blasted 50 shades book that our book club chose to read (against my better judgement, but the discussions will be enlightening, I'm sure).

However, the lawn also needs mowing and the house is in need of much TLC, as is the dog, and all my houseplants so I won't be entirely resting on my laurels.

jra - I want to ask why you don't visit instead, but if that's being nosey, feel free not to reply. We had a day yesterday with my family and it was fab - well, a huge improvement on where things were twelve months ago, anyway.

Because frankly I'm not that close to my dad. We'll only argue if I stay with him for more than a week, and I just can't be bothered with the hassle.

I love him dearly, don't get me wrong, but we could never live together for an extended period of time.

That's just the way it is.

Also, to visit him, I'll have to travel 250 miles from north of London to south Devon, so it's not exactly a trip down the road.

Am guessing he's some distance from you then (geographically) - mine lives just up the road and I don't see him that often for the same sorts of reasons

It doesn't help that he smokes like a chimney - while I have the odd one, I can't bear to reek of fags and whenever I go to see him, I come away stinking. So it's not really a pleasure to visit. And yes, of course I love him, he's my dad, but he drives me nuts as all he wants to talk about is his passion (family history) and he's rewritten most of it

ETA - mind you if he lived in South Devon I'd be there like a shot, one of my favourite places in the world - used to spend all our family holidays in a little place called Bantham. *sigh* Now there's double standards for you

I've lived in south Devon for 21 years, so it's a case of seen it, done it and got the t-shirt. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful county. Bantham is not far from where I was brought up.

After the starting siren, some of the yachts people are shouting at each other. This is because of the give way regulations, e.g. starboard tack has priority over port tack.

They are sailing from the Salcombe boat club start line between there and the Ferry steps beach, going on to the Blackstone marker buoy. And back again.

I'm tired and a bit stressed. I'm struggling to find peace to review the job that I've applied for and learn my resume! Fortunately it's all true that I've put in there (which helps) but it all happened so long ago that I had forgotten what a bloody marvel I was! I'd employ me well I'd employ the old me, not so sure about the new one I wish I had a printer as I'm better at retaining info that I read from the printed page rather than from the pc screen. I have no idea why, but it seems to be true!

Not much else happening here other than a box of drinks fell on my head at work and knocked my glasses off which has hurt the bridge of my nose and then I cracked my forehead on a shelving unit. I was determindly trying to knock myself out today at work for no apparent reason!

It was sports day at LittlePlum's school today, she has inherited my sporting prowess or lack thereof but she was happy that she wasn't last in her race, which for her is quite an achievement! It isn't as if she is hugely unfit or anything, she just runs like a newborn giraffe, long lanky legs and arms splaying everywhere After a massive victory for Blue house last year, they didn't win this time - boo hissssssss!! OK so I don't win points for sportsmanship, but the kids did, as they are great! It's funny that in the build up to sports day they really get it drummed into them to back their House and they have their "war cries" which they sing/chant regularly throughout the day but yet they so happily cheer on the other teams when they are doing well. Very nice to watch. It's a lovely school.

I'm off to read my book now and try to relax before I do my homework. Luckily it's leftovers for dinner tonight, so an easy meal! Hope you all have a lovely day!

Plummy - the vibes for the interview are warming up nicely. I can always pop them in the microwave first thing for extra oomph.

We've been to see Dark Knight and it was good. My favourite summer film so far. It even had Liam Neeson and his great big, wonky, sexy nose in it. Also, the end heavily hints at the franchise continuing with Robin taking up the tights so to speak, so that's good news, especially if Joseph Gordon Whatnot gets that gig. He was lovely. As was Anne Hathaway. Ooo, I did enjoy it quite a bit, even though I didn't have an ice cream (the woman there knows me so well she said what's wrong with you, do you want to have a taste of some just to make sure you really don't want any - hard sell or great customer service? ).
