Oh pants. I know how you guys feel, not that it helps. But things worked out really well for the boy, you know. He did another course and now he's going to his first choice next month, and a year either way doesn't really matter. Call it an enforced gap year. Lots of people we know have done this, even academic high fliers who just missed out on Oxbridge, so hopefully you'll have some creative ideas to make this thing work out.

Nope They reckoned when she phoned up that her results hadn't even been received, so we wasted all that time... have now emailed a scan of the results, but meantime clearing has opened so she's missing out on places left right and centre.

Oh, and her Media teacher has just emailed to say they are appealing the results - like that's going to help right now

Oh this is rubbish news - those UCAS people need to get a grip. They've had the results all week.

Still get everything crossed for GOW sprogs.

...a we have the possibility of a foundation degree but although linked to her chosen course, at a college many miles from the Uni in question, with no accommodation.... *sigh* - this after me spending half an hour on the phone to them with gritted teeth.

UCAS have a lot to answer for right now

snowBes, listen to KJ:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrete_mathematics

That is a bloody cool subject. It is relevant to stuff that gets snoWyBoY a job, without being vocational. Do well at it, it's the sort of thing Google pay big bucks for, ditto the City.
Concepts and notations from discrete mathematics are useful in studying and describing objects and problems in branches of computer science, such as computer algorithms, programming languages, cryptography, automated theorem proving, and software development. Conversely, computer implementations are significant in applying ideas from discrete mathematics to real-world problems, such as in operations research.

PS Discreet mathematics: what you do in a restaurant when everyone else has had a curry and four beers, but you've had a starter and a soft drink 'cos you have to get up early.

((((((Sad)))))), if you're still up!

You *did* see it coming, though - I know it's horrible for her, and for you, but she's been driving you barmy all year. I know the admin bollox helps not one bit - hope it gets sorted soon!

And snowbes, I hope he goes for it!

...and I love you guys but if we tried to have a painting party Mr M would have a breakdown on the spot!
Honestly, don't worry, just go for it.

((((((((love you all)))))))))
