I'm totally pooped! Been a hard week, I'm way too old and feeble for manual work - good thing is though is that I've had a fair few hours at work this week, so pay next week should take a bit of pressure off and get a few things paid. But at what cost? I feel as if I'm falling apart ... just going to sit down now for a quiet hour and read my book and drink a big mug of tea and I'll be fine, I just feel like whining

Sorry to read about all the university woes, it's really hard as a parent when your kids are hurting and you want to make everything right for them but you can;t. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out well in the end for all concerned.

DestructoPup has just discovered that garden water feature plants taste nice or at least are fun to pull out of said water feature and throw around the garden. I'm hoping it's not a recurring game as it could prove expensive - eeeeep! Her hole digging habits are tolerated but this it would seem is beyond the pale! We've sat down and had a chat, I'm not sure she has taken on board how serious I am about it as I noticed a distinct smirk on her face. Time will tell !

Tea and book calleth me now!

Much as I enjoyed my time up in Manchester (3 years), I don't really want to re-locate up there again. Prefer London these days and most of my friends hang out there.

Bless...so glad it's all worked out. Huge sighs of relief here too. Brief version: University A would only offer her a foundation degree course and it wasn't at the university, but at a college miles away from the Uni with no physical links to the university or student life. No-one seemed to be available to tell her more about this, which was very frustrating (and off-putting).

She now has a place at University B instead - still a foundation course, but with stronger links to the uni base and students are actively encouraged to be part of student life. After completion she can convert to the BA Honours degree at the University for the third year - not the BSc she wanted, but it's a degree course and that's the main thing. Staff we have spoken to have been really informative and helpful, called us back when they said they would and generally impressed us much more than the bunch at University A!

So all's well that ends well and I have more grey hair today... thank you to all you lovely grumpers for being here - bloody kids, eh????

Wise man!

The BBC moved to Manchester. So there's one attraction at least.

Yay - sounds like a good outcome all round.

Is this a good time to say we've been to see Bourne and that it's slightly pants?

Hooray all round - glad everyone's got something that works for them!

I'm fine today - domestic all sorted, joiners been and gone leaving minimal mess, and looking at a fairly quiet and sensible weekend. Yay!

Great to read that all university stuff has been sorted out and peace reigns supreme!

I'm off to visit an old Londoner in a care home this morning. He's a nice old boy but apparently he is fading fast. I've not been in to see him since LittlePlum and I moved out and I've been feeling bad about that, so we are going in this morning. Not the most cheery of days but it needs to be done!

Beautiful weather here at the moment, although I think you lot have it hotter for a change. We're getting around 27C most days, I love winter!! if it doesn't rain soon though things might start getting a bit brown which isn't so great but as I don't have a brolly at the moment, I'm loving it!

We've had the sunshine! And took ourselves to the woods, to traipse. Two and a half hours later we were sweaty and a bit horrible looking but well exercised and up for a cold PG, which is now going down extremely well.

Stll too hot here, I'm sweltering!

Took Melony to see the promised Ice Age 4 today - nice and cool in the cinema! She loved it and we both enjoyed it - plenty of slapstick laughs, a few good thrills and lots of "awwww" moments. And Peter Dinklage was the baddie, which anyone who's seen te TV version of Game of Thrones will appreciate

Going to lie in a tepid bath now!

Been clothes shopping for LittlePlum today so she is happy and I am poor! She had so few clothes for out of school that we are gradually trying to build up her wardrobe - she's loving it and turning into a little fashionista until she gets home puts on her new outfits and goes out and plays on the go-kart with the dog pulling it and comes in like a little grub! Bless her - I do prefer her in little grub mode

I've been saintly and done all my ironing of uniforms for the week, just time for a quick cuppa and a bit of a read and then it's on to making tonight and tomorrow night's dinners.

Mainly this afternoon I am being boredyboredboredbored of Boredsville. I rarely feel bored but this afternoon the boredom bug has hit me hard! I've got no-one to talk to - wahhhhhhhhhhh no-one to play with - wahhhhhhhhhh nothing good to do - wahhhhhhhhhhhh

Other than that, all is peachy
