What's the matter Iggy?

Me, I'm a bit crap but could be worse.
I'm having a new kitchen installed. - a father and son outfit with a very good reputation (and price to match.)Was impressed with the design, enthusiasm and general professionalism so placed my order along with a hefty deposit. Initially I was given a provisional starting date for 17th Aug. Heard nothing so phoned on 5th to ask if this was still the plan. "No," I was told; difficulties with their current job meant a delay. This wasn't a problem - I think I can claim to be reasonable but pointed out that an update via a phone call wouldn't go amiss. "Sorry" said father,"this is son's project. Will discuss it with him and call back Monday (7th)." Nothing on Monday - gave them until around 4.30 p.m. then called again. This time spoke to son. "My dad didn't mention it" he said. Father called following morning, apologised and assured me that they would look at the file together and come back to me.

You've guessed it - no phone call. Called yet again - pointed out that the feel good factor I felt when placing the order was fast disappearing. Reminded him that I could have cleared out fridge, freezer, cupboards etc. in anticipation of a start on 17th and would have been living in a virtual tip. More apologies and another promise to look into the matter and call again.

Called again day before yesterday and right on their closing time they called and left a voicemail. This time it was down to the factory - they were out of stock of some doors and were holding onto the order until they could ship it completely. Now they are due to start 24th.

I expected them to phone yesterday, but no - yet again I had to make the first move. I made no bones about the fact that if they'd had their finger on the pulse they'd have known this earlier and kept me in the loop without the need for endless phone calls and more than a little apprehension about how the main job will develop.

Only time will tell.

Ooo, fingers crossed they're better at fitting kitchens than they are at communicating with clients. Will send vibes on the 24th.

We've been to see Cowboys & Aliens. It was okay - there definitely were cowboys and aliens in it.

Iggy, you poor deleted pee'd off dear!

I'd be exactly the same... you need to be able to trust someone who's going to rip your house to bits, don't you?

Vibes for you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>>>>>

Oh Iggy. Sorry to hear about your kitchen woes, and hope it turns out to be okay in the end. There's nothing worse than placing your faith in people to find that faith being undermined... in all areas of life, really.

I'm off to bed... D-day tomorrow. I mean, later today

Goodnight Grumpies one and all (((((((GOW)))))))

Well, this is one very relieved household. Young Sad has his Uni place and Little Saddette has escaped being kicked out of sixth form

Hope others have had a good results morning

Congratulations Young Sad and maybe Little Saddette had been shocked into applying herself next year.

Well done Sadpeople!

Wonder how batboy got on?

It's my turn next week... I teach a BTEC so I know my results as a subject already (85% pass, since you asked ) but we'll all be waiting to see the school's overall results. If they're rubbish there's the distinct possibility that the powers that be might start to put the pressure on us to close sooner than 2015, which we could all live without!

Results here were mediocre - but as himself had an unconditional offer I won't be losing any sleep. Thank goodness. Hope things are fine at Batty Towers.

Young Sad only scraped through - just glad the UCAS letter arrived before we saw his grades. I do hope the Bats are ok.

Handy - vibes for your school next week. xxx

He must have impressed to get an unconditional offer - well done himself.

My godchild needed a B and 2 C's to study radiology but fell a little short with 3 C's.

I don't think all is lost - might know more in the next few days.

Here's hoping for batboy.

Too late to edit - but godchild no.2 sat AS levels; achieved ABCD - I reckon if she addresses the two latter subjects she could do very well next year.

I have no need of such items...

The boy did okay. Not well enough to get his first choice but well enough. We're all a bit about it but happy he's got a place.

The only wobble is the gap year option. I don't think it's a good idea. But when they get to this age there's only so much *influencing* a mum can do.

Just tell him how much more debt he'll leave with if he starts next year. That might clinch it

So sorry he didn't get his first choice - I'd say everything happens for a reason (because I really do believe that) but it sounds trite - so will send vibes instead. ~~~~~~~~

Snowy - Ghostie boy and Little Saddette are clearly very similar. I'm nearly broke... and she's hardly ever here...
