Same place as all my grub I should think, KJ. I've been a comfort foodie today - macaroni cheese and chips at dinnertime in Sainsbury's and fishcake and chips for my tea in the food-hall at the discount shopping park. Oink!

That's proper piggery handy.

We've been to see Fright Night. I really thought I'd hate it (all our usual cinema buddies were up for it so I didn't want to be a wet blanket... ) but it was fab. Lots of slightly bloody silliness in 3D. A little bit knowing but not over-stuffed with in-jokes. And both David Tennant and Colin Farrell (woof) were great. All in all, so much better than the monkey film.

Aha! I *knew* someone I really liked was in it!

Glad you had a good night out, batty!

Amica! xxx

Kitchen is beginning to take shape - well some skeleton carcases have been assembled - but I have no cooking facilities, water or working dishwasher/washing machine.

I nipped over to Liverpool to scrounge a meal on Friday night - ate out last night and today attended the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival where I pigged out on free samples before actually paying for a meal at one of the restaurants represented. I was too late to buy a ticket to watch John Torode's cookery demo but I did see a Radio City DJ and ex chef Rossie make a Irish champ. I'm familiar with the ingredients of an orthodox champ (or colcannon) but this, though still simple, was a little more sophisticated than potatoes and spring onions; it included the spring onions ok, but also mushrooms, home made chicken stock, cream and whisky to make a delicious but evil sauce. He accompanied it with slow cooked chicken - the audience were invited to taste; it was to die for!

Fitters will return in the morning - they say they might be finished by Friday - here's hoping!

We spent a damp but thoroughly enjoyable afternoon in Brigglington!
Yes, we went on the beach and yes, Melony made me have a paddle with her. It wasn't as cold as you might think it would be... and I've got lovely buffed feet all ready for the new term!

((((((((((((SadP)))))))))))))) - that's some germ she gave you!

Amica - know *just* how you feel!

Iggy - hang on in there!

Batty - can you actually get a mobile signal? Cos I ain't sending texts of you ain't going to get them!

@handy - Unless she's bluffing, she's got a multimedia text from KJ.

@Sad - You do grumping about family so well, I could so go nuclear (not about MrsKJ) you'd laugh. Grrr. Aaargh.

Good luck with kitchens, masterpieces, country fair hangovers, ...

PS @Sad - It just got worse. FFS

Still in bed but blessed with netbook temporarily to *wave* feebly. Yup, germ and a half. Doc has given me big antibtiotics and also eye drops and I can see at last so that's good

Actually gutted not to be back to work today

Being sensible though. More than can be said for my daughter... My dad rang today and asked if there was anything he could do I did suggest he might like to take his grandaughter for a long walk off a short cliff... however she has since marginally redeemed herself by cooking dinner. Not quite as lush as the one described by Iggy though. When's the kitchen-warming?

I am now the proud owner of a row of units - sans doors but avec worktop. That's actually quite useful - it's been so long I'd forgotten which worktop I selected - now I can select a few classy accessories.

Been three days without kitchen facilities - but roll on Friday the most recent completion date.

Poor poorly Sad!
Please do be properly sensible and don't even think of going back till you're *really* better.
((((((((((antibionical hugs)))))))))))

snowy - keep plugging away!

INSET day here, too; luckily had some time to sort own paperwork out and meet with the other chap in my department - just the two of us now, and he only teaches the Music exam groups, I do everything else. *sigh*
Took Melony out for a very blustery play in the park when I got home so Mr M could cuss and swear over a work document which he started at half five and which I'm printing out for him now. There was LOTS of the cussing and swearing...

Performance management training tomorrow (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) - but we get a free dinner!

Latest snag! Yesterday the electricians were ready to put the new light fittings in. "You're providing them aren't you," he said. "No," said I "The main contractor was sourcing them for me."

Phone main contractor. "I was," he said "But I was having problems, so I emailed the electricians and asked them to sort it."

"Didn't see it," said the electricians. Which probably translates as "Don't read emails."

Current situation - no light fittings but the fitter is working away as we speak. I daren't look - everytime I take a peek I seem to set more problems in motion.

How's poor Sad. Picking up I hope.
