The champ I tasted at the weekend I think. Simple but to die for.
![]() That's if I have any light to see what I'm doing. That was the kitchen warming dish I was hoping for ![]() I've just surfaced after a sleep interuppted by coughing and such but do feel much more human. Thanks for all the lovely vibes and hugs, you lovely lot.PQ, I hope you enjoyed Marmaris. Did you get to Icmeler? Holds many happy memories for me... I've really missed being there this year - more than I'd possibly realised. SNoWbes - what's the masterpiece about? I'm just shuffling back to bed, not wishing Mr Sad to see me up and assume I am therefore back to Superhuman Sadperson |

We arrived at our hotel (only 22 rooms so very small)on the Monday. On the Tuesday evening we went to a carefully researched by Himself Indian restaurant called the Taj Mahal - famous Bradford Chef proclaimed it's advertising hype. The next 7 days were spent mostly in our room (on the loo) as we both got food poisoning. A course of kill or cure antibiotics and some other meds from the doctor had us fit enough to venture poolside for a few hours by day 10 and 11. Two Turkish families with lots of boisterous teenagers arrived to celebrate the end of Ramadam on day 9 or 10 and this left us a little overwhelmed so it was back to our room for a wee lie down. At this point my feet and ankles were starting to resemble inflated rubber gloves - a combination of the antibos and the heat. The Turkish families left after 4 days and we felt brave enough to venture from our room and go for a wee walk. We went to another carefully researched restaurant called the Drunken Crab on Bar Street two evenings before we left and had a wonderful meal. Before we knew it it was time to head to the airport to come home.
The hotel staff were wonderful and they really looked after us when we were ill. My ankles and legs are almost normal size now- I've been peeing since we got back. We really did have a good time even though we seen very little of Marmaris or the surrounding area. We are planning going back in October and seeing more than the Hotel and the chemist( the castle is on my list) and will NOT be going back to the Indian Restaurant. |

Think the moral of the story is eat at the Turkish restaurants and avoid like the plague those pretending to be anything else. I can recommend you some fab restaurants in Icmeler, if you do go back, PQ. One of which breaks the rule above - Harry Ram's chip shop, if it's still there.
![]() Hope you're feeling better now though ![]() I went back to work today. Silly move, really - I've got a shiatsu massage booked this evening and am so tired I'm tempted to cancel it.

PQ Turkey is such a lovely country - wish you'd had more opportunity to enjoy the culture.
I got a gippy tum in Tunisia - the bar staff, seeing me drinking soda water and looking a bit green brought over a bottle of Wunderburg; pure alcohol and it tasted foul but it did the trick. I tried a google for a pic - but I was directed to sites for alcoholics ![]() October is a lovely month for Turkey - and if you can fit Ephesus and/or Pamukkale into your next trip I'm sure it will be a bonus. Today I left the fitters to get on with the kitchen long enough to have a hot stone massage. Bliss! |

That's a good point Iggy - Ephesus is intolerable in the heat but brilliant to visit when it's cooler. We went at Easter and it was almost too hot then. Never made it to Pamukkale
![]() Hot stone massage... sounds rather wonderful... *sigh* |

![]() The massages sound fab, but a Lushy bath will have to do me for now. Maybe not even that - the house is full of teenage boys so I'm not sure I'd relax, even with my bathroom door firmly locked...

Oh we still really enjoyed our holiday and it was rather uneventful compared to our usual experiences. There were no tropical storms, hurricanes or landslides and we BOTH managed to stay out of hospital(just) or have a nasty reaction to a beastie bite. Our flights were on time and weren't delayed or diverted. Neither of us were strip searched or anything like that.
All in all it was pretty good going by our normal holiday experiences. Oh and as we were both feeling so grotty we didn't even have energy to bicker with each other

Ignazio , I'm not religious but I do respect faith. I don't think I am anywhere even close to entering the Kingdom of any Heaven no matter what conditions ( not the right words) are applied. I think I'll just drift away to my own little world's version of Heaven when my time comes and bloody enjoy it!
My legs and feet feel so much better due to the peeing my own mass X3. Grumpies - I've never been bothered with swollen ankles and feet or anything like that before before. Was it as I thought a combination of the kill or cure antibiotics(apparently could impair liver function) and the heat I'm not used to? I went up from a dress size 10 to a 14+ round the middle and sweet jaysus - I had really tender and bouncing out my bra boobs - for a short time. Himself, did mention today he thought I'd put a "fair bit of weight on" during the last few days of our holiday and that I didn't have thin legs and ankles. He was wise enough not to mention this to me while still on holiday. |

According to my GP when I went to her with my swelly-up legs they check for liver function, kidney function and poor circulation. In my case it's poor circulation caused by two massive fibroids and at least one thumping great ovarian cyst which are all putting pressure on my circuatory system and stopping my lymph from draining my legs properly.
I certainly have also heard of pregnant friends having holidays in hot places and swelling up like billy-oh. So your theory is probbaly right - fluid retention combined with pills combined with heat. Poor old you! ![]() Sad - we both know you've gone back too early. Tsk! |

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. So rich women will be ok!

Grump
Well, not a grump exactly. My last day at work tomorrow.
There's nothing quite like feeling rejected as when you end up dismantling the office desks. Rumour is tomorrow they deliver the petrol and we have to self-immolate. |
