@Amica - ouch! @snoWY - I went to Warwick for a few days in the late 1970s - I thought the campus was alright as they go, with some wacky bars, OK accommodation.

This is tempting fate, but my new job starting soon is looking good.

I am virtuous and in MrsKJ's good books due to heroic gardening scars and several tip visits. Wait until she finds out that I've filled a guinea pig hutch with PC bits ... and an apparently empty cupboard in the shed with books ... and more PC bits.

I've had to make some tough choices about going to footy. Tonight we played our (ahem) nemesis team and I didn't go (long story). I've been indulging in displacement activities all evening to avoid jinxing Palace.

Life lurches along here, After chewing the ethernet cable last week, the pup got behind the computer and chewed the keyboard wire today. At one point I thought we would have to use a hideously pink sparkly keyboard that LittlePlum had got me a while back which I suspected OH would quail at .... but then I found another old keyboard. At first it seemed great, but after using it a while I realise why we don't use it anymore as some of the keys require a bit of persuasion to work.

Apart from that and a few fairly typical Plum-house daily dramas all is ok here. I got a gold star from the DHSS equivalent here for all my jobhunting efforts, but sadly only $12 for the fortnight. I'm going to see a financial advisor as large quantities of money is making my head spin!

Yay for palace and new jobs! Here I am looking forward to a few days sunbathing....

My fitter left early yesterday - apparently he had to go on another job. Why this work took priority over mine is anyone's guess. He arived this morning just before 9 but didn't stay as he has to pick up materials! (wall tiles I'm guessing.) Why was this not organised by the self proclaimed kitchen specialists I ask myself.

I'm still waiting for him to return.

I think I'm in for another heated exchange with the head honcho before this saga ends. Some of the paintwork is decidedly dodgy; brushmarks on parts of the walls, some areas were left unskimmed by the plasterer under the impression that these would be tiled. Not the case and the painter simply painted over the rough rendering. Also poor old bugger didn't rub down the skirtings (obviously couldn't bend down) and these are rough. On the evidence to date I think this job is beginning to eat into the anticipated profits of the proprietor and the painter (as I said earlier around 74 years old) is probably a retired tradesman who's been offered cash to do a job for which he's no longer up to the mark.There is still some paintwork to be completed and what's the betting he tries to palm me off with the poor old soul again.

It will be No, Non, Nein, Nao, it's not going to happen.

It's a shame you're far away, my shed stash has keyboards in it.

I'm in a bit of a mess this morning and it's not puppy related. I think I've reached the end of my tether. I've done a bit of an ostrich thing and buried my head in the sand a bit too long over a financial thing which I couldn't work out how to deal with and now I can't see a way out at all. I'm really screwed.

I don't know about you KJ, but I've read sooooo much crap since I got my Kindle. I can't resist the £0.00 to 0.49p price range. You might be better off sticking to proper books handy. I was given a large box of paperbacks recently, so I can top up your supply if you like.

Iggy - a couple we know have had builders and decorators in since April. I think the work was supposed to take 2 weeks. I'm not cheering you up, am I...
