I hereby apologise for not replying sooner cyberchums. Indeed I have a new job. I'm lucky at my age to have one - I'm no dumbo (not a cyberchump ) but the change after 15 years has made me a bit wobbly on the self-confidence front, so I've been a bit quiet. Nice people though. I'm working from home, and that's well, different.

Oh poo Sad. I think what happened to me will be for the better, but that's sod all comfort when the management consultants persuade the management that those of us who do the work are the problem rather than the solution.

KJ tries to be positive - maybe the police involvement will facilitate getting the caring professionals to sit up and take notice instead of hiding behind her human rights (i.e. excuse for inaction due to fear of lawyers).

Plummie!
So glad you popped in - was worrying about you a bit. Glad it's not as bed as it could be... ((((hug)))

KJ, glad it's all proceeding as it should!
Have you got an office... or are you working from The Shed?

Sad - hope it was better than you feared. ((((((((poor friend)))))))))
And I can sneeze OK as long as I lean right over forwards and hug myself protectively. Looks a bit odd, but stops everything bursting out through the scar...

batty - a Grrr for gits.
But most people really are OK really. Honest.

A duvet morning for me, and a fambly afternoon. Nice.

On the whole, I've been really lucky with the *caring professionals* but yes, the entire system is geared up to some middle ground catch all situation and it doesn't always work.

Yup, I'm pleased too. Monday's going to be a pile of pants but there's nothing to be done until then and we're going to a Bonfire party tonight (if we all perk up a bit... it's been that kind of a day so far) so that's something to look forward to.

We're doing fireworks in the garden later

We went to see a parade today.
Melony reduced us both to helpless fits of giggles when the Lord Mayor appeared by announcing loudly, from her seat on Daddy's shoulders:
"Look, look, Daddy - it's a PIRATE!!!"

Evening snOwy.

I started the day off with a long list of things to do and finished it with an even longer one.

Batty, I was reading this article on the BBC news website this morning about dementia and it made me think of you and your situation with your mum. They make it all sound so easy about what family members should do, but it doesn't make clear the obstacles that the system put in the way of actually getting anything done about it. Well done for trying to raise awareness, but do they really know/care about the practicalities of it all or is it all just political "caring" to be seen to be caring but not actually really addressing the issue. Pfffft!

I'm fierce this morning. I think I'm being picked on at work, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and monitor the situation for the next couple of shifts that I am working for this particular supervisor and if it's still happening then I'm going to sort it out one way or another. I'm too old to put up with sh*t from anyone. Small wonder they have such a high staff turnover.

(((((((((BG))))))))) I hate it when that happens.

I've got more reports stacking up and need to get my head down to do them - before I totally lose my motivation

I'd much rather read a good book. In bed. With endless cups of tea and toast and marmite. See, I don't want the world....

Just no-one mention the C word, please

I can understand the confidence wobble, I've not worked for the last 9 years for various reasons and I am quite apprehensive about returning to work - not the job that I'm doing at the moment, that's a no brainer, but if/when I hopefully get a "proper" job with a desk, a phone and a computer - oh how I wish How sad am I

Good luck dealing with the little shit Plum!

And thanks for the link. You're completely right - spotting the signs isn't the problem, it's what happens next.

((((((((((((huggles for grumps in need))))))))))))))

Bit of a duvet day here.
Mr M off work with a chest infection - wonder where he got that? - so we've vegged and watched telly and this afternoon he came over all domestic and did a pile of ironing while I rediscovered the kitchen. Then he got M and we all watched the Sean the Sheep DVD before tea... and that's all we've done all day! Bloody bliss.

Hope you lot have had a halfway decent one.

Am I battered and bruised - oh yes I am.

My geet posh bathroom with the REALLY fantastic shower has me battered and bruised. We need grab rails round the bath. I went for a burton last night and managed to obtain bruises and swollen bits on my ribs, knee, foot, back and all up one side.

@Snowy Ghost - I went for my smear and oh ..... I was like madonna doing a pelvic thrust for the most part. It's never been an easy thing - the smear test- as my womb tilts. Was it uncomfortable? YES .. was is making my eyes water ? YES .. did it hurt - YES.

I do stand behind my comments on another thread about smear tests. Get on with it. I'm not being trite this time.

This time the nurse had me have my feet about shoulder width apart. In the past it's always been feet close together and let your legs fall away. It's always been an uncomfortable and a bit of painful for me experience when I have had a smear> this time it was easier.

If it's any consolation Plum, I walked out of my shitty job on Monday after 5 months of bullying/bitching and general mis-management! Not really the right economic climate or time of year in which to do it, but Bloke was surprised I lasted as long as I did!
And, talking of Bloke, some news to cheer you all up - start perusing the hat/bow tie departments! No details of when or where yet, but the question has been popped!

Apropos advice for blokes, I'm an advocate of visiting the GP if in any doubt.

Did anyone see that documentary about the 13 year old maths genius the night before last? It was informative and positive.
