Spot on plumster Yes, we all get on well - corny and cliched it may seem, but it's the first time ever that I've worked with a bunch of people whom I love without exception, and the feeling seems to be mutual. So there's a real desire to stick together as much as we can.

Fankoo. The vibes must have worked because I didn't actually throttle the woman who led the meeting, who clearly has zero understanding of what our job actually involves

We hope so - will know more after Thursday but it would certainly be wonderful to raise two digits to the LA and know our team was safe. Very tempting. Probably too good to be true though

Fankoo and thanks all of you - it's pants indeed but best to try to see it as an opportunity rather than a disaster, I guess
Sorry about the dead lappy Amica..

That's well 'orrible our KJ. One year, my first husband and I spent Christmas with his family. The kids got a karaoke machine and that was the song of choice. It was on a bloody loop. Endless. And none of them had any singing talent.

We got divorced not long after that.

Booyakashah to the pair of you!

Sad, I know what you mean - it's the waiting that does yer ead in, innit?
Vibing for the next stage on Thursday

Amica's laptop, RIP

Plummie - how's the car?
Glad you're enjoying the lovely Mma Ramotswe. Feelgood reading par excellence.
My recommendation for getting into Terry Pratchett would be to start with "Guards! Guards!" which introduces a set of key characters and is, imo. the first fully formed Discworld novel. The one KJ suggests is fab but much later in the series, so if you're an uptight bugger like me who likes things in the right order I'd go with my thought. Obvs

Had a very busy but basically successful and pleasant three days - pottering with the houseowrk, entertaining M, and even managed to go out and visit fambly yesterday afternoon without being late (*faint*)

The car is still Bloke at the garage had another look at it yesterday and has now decided it's two of the sensors that are playing up. He has ordered the parts and hopefully it will get sorted end of the week - looks like another $400 or $500 worth Just as well we had that little windfall .... it's nearly all gone now though - bugger it! Got the car back though as it's apparently OK for short journeys.... as long as you don't mind breaking down occasionally

Re books, I'm on the 2nd No 1 Ladies Detective Agency now ... but then i'm going to get back to my pile of real books as there are a few I want to read and I better do it before I get too lazy to physically turn a page

All is winding down at LittlePlum's school as the end of year is next week ... she'll be in Grade 5 next year - wahhhhh I want my baby back!

House is back to being full of drama, Roger the Lodger, our friend who we said could stay with us a couple of weeks or so and ended up staying a year, is moving out, which worked out very badly as coinciding with stepson breaking up (VERY messily) with his partner, so we then had room for him to move back in! Drama drama drama! If it gets how it was last time he stayed with us, then really I don't want any part of it. Just have to watch and see I suppose and keep my head down and my flak jacket on!

handy's right, that series is in two small piles on the bookshelf and I chose the wrong pile.

I'd expect amazon.co.oz has a similar thing.

I think we need to change the direction this convo is taking RIGHT NOW, cos I can think of lots of replies but I don't think any of them are really suitable for polite company...

Today I am mostly slobbing. And doing the shopping, but since I intend to combine that with stuffing my face in the supermarket caff I think that also counts as slobbing!

Have a good day, you lot, whatever you're doing (((((hugs)))))

I like the sound of your day handy.

I'm mostly drowning in paperwork. My accountant needs figures from me URGENTLY apparently, then there are the ongoing cock-ups to sort out with my mum's bank, all kinds of forms to deal with as far as her care, Warsaw's calling asking for bills to be paid over there...

What I really want to do is sit on the sofa and eat cake.

I had a morning slob, sorted the kitchen out, got dressed, got bags etc together, drove the 15 miles to the supermarket - then realised I'd got no wallet!!!

Luckily Mr M was at a meeting about 15 minutes distant, so was able to ring him and get him to lend me the money, but honestly - I'm not with it! Had to have a big sausage butty and a pot of tea to get over the embarrassment

bats and snowy - hope papework hell is being slowly defeated (((hugs)))

I'm drowning in reports to write - generating something of a backlog and need to rearrange my diary or I'm going to have a very big problem very soon

It's raining. I have to go out in it soon. I don't want to - wahhhhhhh!!! On the plus side, at least it's warm rain - on the negative side, I don't own a coat ... but then again, it's too warm for a coat - now all I have to do is hope my brolly is in the car or I'll be doing the drowned rat thing ... and that look is oh so last year!

Car only broke down twice yesterday and only once with me in it, so that was a good day! I'm not pushing my luck today and other than the school run and work tonight, I'm going to avoid the car!

For those of you with Kindles, how long does your charge last? Mine only lasted a week ... I thought it was meant to go longer than that? I did leave wireless on for a while though because I forgot about it and that apparently eats power.... and I do read quite a lot, so maybe a week is about right?
batgirl
24-11-2011
If you're just reading Plummy, the charge should last a lot longer, but going online makes a huge difference.

But, saying that, I did have some 'charging' problems with mine so got it replaced. A couple of months ago, the original one decided it didn't like being charged through the mains for some reason. It was fine when I charged it through the laptop, but I didn't like having to do it like that and thought it was best to get it replaced before I got past the 12 month mark. The new one's behaving!

I've turned off the wireless now and recharged it and will keep wireless off for the duration of this charge to see what happens. I've got plenty to read on it, someone sent me a HUGE number of books. At the moment, I'm book rich, time poor! I have no idea what I do all day but I seem to be on the go most of the time - I must make notes. I suspect I'm running around like a headless chicken achieving little That would make me chicken little ... although I prefer chicken lickin ... or licken? I'm not sure. *looks at handy for guidance*

Just home from work. Everyone has gone to bed and I'm wide awake and I feel like being noisy. Luckily good sense is currently prevailing and I'm sitting quietly here. I'll have to go to bed fairly soon as I have to be up in 5 and a half hours, I'll probably be dreaming about putting things on shelves again ....

After I'm done here, I'll try reading to see if that makes me sleepy. Or I'll count sheep.... but that won't take me long as I already know we don't have any. Perhaps I'll count dogs .... one .... two .... nope still not sleepy

Hope everyone has a good day! Still raining here and apparently still 26C.
