funny bugger!

We're averaging around 31C most days here at the moment and I have a stinking rotten cold that won't go away! Snot fest and 'snot fair! Dammit! then I look on t'internet and see snow oop north .... very ooop north, as in Northern hemisphere - I'd like some please, gardens, rooftops and trees only though. Thinking about it, I'm either a hardy northerner as I live in Far north queensland..... or I'm an even softer, southern softy than I was in my south london days as I am wayyyyyyyyy South. I don't know the answer to this.

All is fine here, apart from my cold in the hot. Getting a few more hours at work this week - I'm up to a rather exciting 15 hours this week. I'm about to go and get told off for not having applied for any other jobs this last fortnight but (a) I don't get paid any benefits anyway, so why should I do as they say and (b) with summer school holidays just started if I did get a job and put YoungPlum in vacation care I probably wouldn't be any better off than I am now where I'm able to stay at home with my girly and have fun in the day and work late evenings. We shall see what their reaction is to this, I just don't see the point in applying for jobs that will leave me effectively worse off. If a good job comes up then sure I'll apply for it, but at the moment, it's all part-time casual. Oh well, I'll gird my loins and see what happens!

Going to make dream-catchers today if stepson's gf comes round. She's going to teach LittlePlum and I - I'm quite excited. Easily pleased me!!

Nothing else to report, other than my splendidly lovely OH, after 3 weeks off with a sprained ankle/damaged ligament, is back to work today - yayyyyyy! shhhhhh don't tell him I said that

Poor man.

Plummy - if you don't get any benefits, what's the idea behind going to see whoever it is (that might tell you off for not applying for jobs)?

I'm still trying to lose the mental image produced by KJ's post

Eventful morning here - woke up to the ominous sound of running water - in my bedroom

Plumber came and sorted it out - glad I was home when it happened and knew how to turn the water off or things could have been much worse. Once the initial panic wore off I could see the funny side

All part of life's rich tapestry and all that.

Plummy - your posts should be collated and turned into that book you haven't written yet. Really..

Bats - hissed at any bankers recently?

I've spent today gutting half my kitchen cupboards and throwing out all the dead jars of homey, pots of spices, cup-a-soups tc. It was strangely satisfying... I think i need to get back to work soon!

Plummie, I hope your cold soon gets better (((((hugs))))))

Ooooh, that's my plan this weekend HM - you're not alone in your strangeness

Don't rush back. I wouldn't if I had the option not to, right now

Funny you should ask Sad - yes, earlier today. Actually, I didn't even hiss. I laughed. After over a month of dicking around, then finally getting things sorted during the hissing episode, someone somewhere did something to undo everything and we're back to square one! The chap's face was a picture and I just roared with laughter. You know me.

So back to you - are you decorating or was the flood well behaved?

In other news, the boy has been offered a place at his first choice university again. He chanced it and got in touch and they said yes. He can't believe his luck and nor can I really...

Ooo, fancy seeing you here.

Yes, he's walking on air. It's not unconditional but might as well be as he's got to do next to nothing to make sure he's in. Apparently the head chap really wanted him last year in spite of the grades but wires got crossed, so that's a shame but all's well etc.

Well I'll be Result And a year out will have done him no harm at all. Kind of wish mine had gone for that option except there was nothing he wanted to do apart from sit in his room on his pc all day. Which is pretty much how he spends all his free time now he's there

Congrats to Batboy though. As for the bankers.... well, rhyming slang and all that.

KJ - you've been tango-ed

Honest answer is "buggered if I know!" I'm just following the rules. I thought I would stick with this mob because allegedly they can arrange study courses funded by government. Australia is certificate obsessed in the workplace. However, no such offer has been forthcoming so this is why I'm a bit over it all as there doesn't seem to be much reason to allow myself to be bossed about.

Great news about the uni offer for Triple B (BigBatBoy)!

'scuse me, I now have a lovely image of KJ as a bronzed Adonis

Kitchen cupboard clearing reminds me of my mum, I was clearing out her kitchen cupboards when I took over doing the cooking there and I found a tin of goose fat, mum was almost permanently on a theoretical diet which made it even more bizarre. I asked her what that was all about and the best answer she could come up with was "I don't know, it seemed like a good idea at the time!" Mad woman! I'm not like her at all you know

I didn't go see the job mob yesterday as fortunately I received a text message from them before I set off to remind me that my appointment is in fact today! I know I like to get to places early, but 24 hours early might be a bit much!

Ended up having quite a nice day, took YoungPlum out for lunch, nothing fancy, but still not something we have done much lately, and then I bought her a couple of books, she conned me somehow with my love of a bargain, but it's not really a bargain if you didn't mean to spend the money and had no immediate need of the item. I felt all used and abused .... and jealous that I had no new books! Then I remembered that (a) I have a shelf on my lovely new bookcase full of books I've not read yet (b) I have a few new books on my kindle to read and (c) I had a parcel waiting for me when I got home from The Book Depository!

Anyway, today I'm off to do food shopping, see the job mob and be all organised and order and pay for the book/stationery list for YoungPlum's next year at school. She doesn't go back til the end of January, but if I sort it now then I won't have the last minute panic and scrabble for money! Me being organised? What is the world coming to?

I think I have wittered enough for now

Just think about the fees and the oodles of cash your one is saving.

Plummy - I think telling them to get stuffed is long overdue.

And now for a Lush alert - there's a new soap called Rose Jam (or something close to that) and it's all oohh and ahhh, and I want to lick it... I wonder how Examinus is these days.

I was attacked at work by a rogue can of Dr Pepper's with issues, not sure if it was a protest of some sort or a random act of pointless violence. It exploded all over me. I'm not sure what the appropriate revenge is but I'm working on it

Be nice to the can, consider the event as flattery, it was just a bit premature.

Exceedingly Grumpy Indeed tonight. Only a week to go. After that, only two terms - max. I'd be gutted - if I wasn't so cross.

- sadly too late to save the can, it did it's thing and then was cast aside along with the rest of the evenings detritus. Such is the fate of many a poor man/can

at the chicken pox. I remember when my little niece had the pox and was feeling very sorry for herself and needing lots of hugs. It was very hard to be a good aunt when all I wanted to do was screech "get away from me spotty monster" - I didn't of course, I did hugs and reasurance that she didn't look hideous ...... she did though Anyway, good luck with it handy and I hope she gets through it without incident and quickly.... for all your sakes!!

Today, I'm off to buy a new pooper scooper, my exciting life in the antipodes knows no bounds! It's unreasonably hot here, so going to the shops is good as it means I can enjoy aircon for a little while - that's one good aspect of working too, I may be working hard but at least it's cool !

Me too. Well 'orrible.

And, Plummy, that's exactly how I caught it - from an extremely spotty niece who spent the afternoon on my knee, having cuddles.

(((Melons)))

Here, we're getting our Christmas tree in a bit. I'm sooooo excited!!!

Sounds like an excellent plan to me, snowy
And good luck to snowy boy. Haven't the years flown?

Thnaks for all the vibes, guys. It's been a miserable old day, but we've got through it (as far as bath-time anyway) and she'll get better in time for Christmas... *sigh*

Love and hugs to you all
