Well it's all gone mucky whilst I turned my back for five minutes. Children children children - tsk tsk *peers over glasses grandma styleeeee*

I had a rather pleasant night at work last night. I was a positive whizz with the toilet rolls - not sure that that looks quite right when I type it, but I know what I mean I find it surprising how much choice is required when it comes to the simple bog roll. Thank heavens they don't do a selection of colours here! Sponges are another thing - how many different sorts of sponges does there need to be? I buy one sort - the cheapest available. Witchy 1 the primo witch was in charge and I earned two ... yes I repeat, two "good girl" comments. Oh my - my cup runneth over with joy! I iz clever I iz! I was going to ask for a gold star but decided against pushing my luck Not often I make a sensible decision, but I think that was one of those occasions!

Pup is poorly. Main symptom of poorliness is that she isn't being a pain in the bum, she's being a wilting lily and looking sad - she has a worried wrinkled brow anyway, so add poorliness to this and she is a sorry sight. She didn't eat last night or this morning - I'll give it til tomorrow and if she isn't improving we'll have to go to the vet. I want my whirlwind menace back!

LL - great to see that you are home for a while! Fingers crossed that things really start to improve for you and make sure you stay away from the ironing! I hardly iron at all now - just uniforms really. I look like a dork in mine but I draw the line at crumpled dork

Batty - where did you move the Yorkshire Dales to? If you feel like moving them again could you arrange shipment to Australia? i'd enjoy them here very much! Thankyou - only if it's not too much trouble mind!

KJ - you're lovely you are.

Handy - hope you got your early night!

Hope all is well with everyone. We're enjoying some lovely rain for the last couple of days which has brought the temperature down a smidge which is great, it's only 31 here now, actually it feels cooler than that because of the breeze so I'm happy anyway. It's good not to be melting. You'd think with all the melting I do that I would waste away and be all willowy and slim .... but no such luck - dammit! *waves fist in futile rage*

I better go. I'm reading children's books at the moment. LIttlePlum is reading a series of books by Chris D'Lacey about dragons and stuff and wanted me to read them too so she could talk about them. Ever keen to encourage her bookworm tendencies, I'm reading them and actually rather enjoying them

Pup seems to have undergone a miracle recovery. She was still being a wilting lily when we got home from the shops until she spotted LittlePlum having a soft-scoop ice-cream which she had got from Santa whom we'd bumped into at the shops. LittlePlum, rather disgustlingly, let pup lick the ice-cream and suddenly pup was fine. Since a few licks of ice-cream she has beaten up our old dog, growled at her tail, stolen a thong ..... nooooo, not that sort of thong, but a flip-flop and is now running round the garden without a care. As cures go, this was unexpected

Ice cream is a cure for lots of things... *nods sagely*

Morning all. Himself is home this evening - and today is the daughter's last 8.30am start on a Saturday for 2 weeks. Coincidence? I think not

 So tired.

Batty - while you're shifting stuff, could you possibly bung the Peak District down our way? It's a bit flat round here...

(((((KJ))))) Sad Dog is bouncy and happy as 3/4 of his family are home; Young Sad returning last night with more washing than I've seen in his life; Mr Sad will be here by this evening with a fortnight's worth, and the contents of Little Saddette's wardrobe are all over her floor as usual. With her going away for a week on Monday evening, I am fairly confidently predicting an entire week of washing ahead of me. Joy.

I want to go back to bed

Lovely to see you out of the hopspittle, LL

Hello Grumpies. Thanks to everyone for all the hugs and good thoughts.

Good news so far about Combat Corgi Pixie - op has been done and the lump appears to be a fatty mass pushing through from her abdomen - need to wait on the results of the biopsy thingie. She has her lampshade, a pair of socks on her back paws and a pillow case fastened round her body to stop her licking and scratching her wound. She was a sorry sight on Thursday and yesterday but woke me up this morning at stupid o'clock demanding brekkie. We don't like to think about how much her op was and the coming hassle with the pet insurance claim.

My mum - bless her. She had me in stitches on the phone. If she had said the same thing to me before she had her stroke I would have been really offended. However my black humour kicked in and I'm so happy I read all the info the medical team gave me about how strokes can affect people in different ways. My sister read the same stuff but she doesn't have the same humour as I do so she was in tears but not tears of laughter.

I'm sending hugs and wraps in the shawl to everyone who needs them.

Eeeh. While I've been gone all have been restored to good spirits it seems. Great to see all smiling through the tears of frustration. Same for me - as per- but I'll get over it.

Wish it was sunny here as in Oz - I is a hot house flower in the frozen north.

Chins up me old muckers - it will soon be C......!

And strictly is on tonight to lift my gloom. I love a sparkly dress and wouldn't mind finding Harry in my stocking........

I'm just home from work. I was somewhat surprised to find that I was back with the bogrolls tonight. It seems that Cairns is preparing for a massive dose of the squits as huge lots had been bought today, hence huge loads had to be replaced

Nothing else interesting happened. Actually that should be, nothing interesting happened as I don't suppose my toilet roll tale is all that fascinating. Oh god, my life is sad - wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hope you all have a good day!

PS Sad get your mitts off the yorkshire dales, I baggsied them first! ..... or we could go halves I suppose, half a dale is better than no dale at all .... unless of course it's Dale Winton, in which case, you're welcome to him Mind you, that seems a bit harsh as he always seems perfectly pleasant. I still don't want one though.

Am I wittering? I suspect I am

Pixie - keeping fingers crossed for the pixie pooch that the results come back favourably!

Amica - I will happily post some hot air to you - apparently I'm full of it

PQ, I *love* Northumberland - I'll take a large portion if batty's schedule allows. Living out on the Humber estuary like we do you get good skies but I do miss the hills. Just a few - with a nice castle on, maybe?

Glad doggy is OK so far. Those lampshades are a hoot, aren't they? One fo our cats had to have one after he got bitten on the tail and he spent a week whacking against chair-legs cos he couldn't judge the distance between them properly

We went Christmas shopping in town today
Melony was beautifully behaved despite me getting into a flap cos we'd spilt up to share the errands and I couldn't get through to Mr M on his phone to arrange a meeting-place. Horrible half-hour where I imagined us wandering hopelessly round the streets freezing to death... and then finally I got through. Never been so glad to hear his voice... and felt a right wally when he pointed out we'd all have ended up meeting at the car...

Anyway - all home safely.

((((((((Sad)))))))) and (((((((((Amica))))))))) - keep calm and carry on, girls!

Plummie - long live the loo-rolls!
Kids books are by far the best ones. Try The Dark Is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper. Brilliant!

Thanks for the book recommendation handy! Going to have a potter round the second hand bookshops to see if I can find a bargain copy, failing that I'll be contacting The Book Depository. The more variety of style of books she reads the better! We were like a pair of old biddies this afternoon sitting with a cup of tea each, some custard creams and our books! Mind you, a short while later she was crashing and banging round the garden whooping loudly with the pup causing mischief and mayhem. At the moment it's a toss up as to who is the more destructive

Very wintery here. -4.5 apparently. Eeek.

Did my cards today. Fingers crossed they're better than my efforts last year.

It's been f-f-f-reezing here all day - lovely sunshine but v cold. We've decorated our tree (M was in charge of handing out the little plastic hooks! ) and I've begun re-excavavting the kitchen and ordered my neice and nephews' pressies from Amazon.

Batty - were you sober this year? I find it makes allthe difference...

I had a brandy because it would've been rude not to, but it was quite small so you shouldn't be getting Sad's card this year and there's definitely something written in it.

I can see the snow on the hills. So far it's only been very cold (more on that to come) and we've had some sleet but no snow here.

My wonderful year is wrapping itself up nicely. The heating pump gave up the ghost on Friday. Himself replaced this on Saturday. This was when we discovered the radiators in the living room were terminally ill. Himself went off to Screwfix yesterday(the most often visited store by himself this year) and came back with two shiny new radiators. While he was away the oven died. One radiator behaved and came out with no problem. The other radiator peed black yeuky stuff all over the carpet. I can live with a minging looking carpet in the living room so long as we have a working oven for next weekend or the Slavettes could rebel.

I'm off to look out our home insurance stuff to see if we can claim for a new carpet and later on I'm taking Pixie the Combat Corgi to the vets for a check up on her wound.

I don't think anything else can go tits up this year in our home.

batty - well done! I look forward to it!
I have no idea where any of my internet mates' addresses are and I'm running out of time - you might get a New Year card!

((((((((((((((PQ))))))))))))))) - you really are having a stinker!
Hope it's all plain sailing up to and beyond the festives!

Can you PM it to me?

Of course!

Everywhere I go, people are asking "are you ready for Christmas?" Noooooo! I've got the tree, done the cards, bought loads of PG... and that's it. I haven't given the food any thought at all and I've no prezzie ideas.

Best get drunk.

I can always count on you to make me feel organised

Here - well, a cup of tea is going down nicely at the end of an entirely unproductive day. I'd say I'm about a third of the way through the collective washing piles of Mr Sad and Young Sad. Can't see the carpet in Little Saddette's room - ask me if I care. She can sort it out when she returns on Friday, or put up with it.

Not feeling terribly Christmassy. But as I don't have to worry about cooking for it this year (other than my annual mince-pie bake, planned for Saturday morning) I don't really mind
