yayyyy - well done!! and fingers crossed that good things happen with your portfoliolioliolio!

I'm poorly this morning - waaaaaaaahhhh - no idea what the problem is, just been feeling really queasy since last night. It feels like something is lying wrong in my stomach. I was sick a little while ago so maybe that will sort it out. Tisn't fair though! I worked last night but luckily no work tonight so that should give me time to get sorted out. Fingers crossed.

OH was called out to work in the middle of the night as someone's washing machine had flooded one of the apartment buildings. Ridiculous really as they rarely pay him for these middle of the night catastrophes.

Loads to do, hoping to feel better so I can go do them. For now, I'm going to go and sit down and read and feel full of woe and self-pity.

Snowy all be be fandabulous. Plum (huggles) it's a shitty time of year... you'll be up there with everyone in no time at all.

I'm a naughty Pixie - I've just knecked a glass of wine. In my almost senior years I should be able to resist "a dare" . I now feel half cut and I MUST go shopping.

Pixie the Combat Corgi is doing great. My wee mum seems to be doing good if our phone calls are any thing to go by. Her hubby (john) is coping brilliant. It's very hard for him.

I'm off to give myself a talking to for drinking so early in the day and then might head to the shops. Then again I may just crash on the settee and have a wee kip.

Pixie......way to go girl!!
I have had a kip and am trying to muster up energy and enthusiasm for Sinsbury's

ZOMG!

I left the ' out of it's above! I blame declining standards on DS:GD.

Talking of education ...

If any of you lot fancy a dead soppy film, I've just watched the 2002 version of Goodbye Mr Chips with Martin Clunes in the lead role. It's not half bad, some cracking scenes. It's repeated twice so set your recorders.

I can't do soppy - I just blart everywhere!
The end of Misfits is still upsetting me...

Plums, hope you soon feel better

Pixie - a glass of wine before attenpting shopping sounds *very* sensible to me.

We need to do our Christmas food shop tomorrow - got all our Nectar points stored up. Unfortunately M is going to have to come too

I went to use my Nectar points to night and forgot and paid with my debit card

KJ - your medical prowess is quite remarkable. It clearly was a severe case of viral puppy pox. I ignored the symptoms, everyone else here was ignoring my woes so I thought I would join in, and a recovery was made overnight. This would not have been possible without your diagnosis Luckily you had dealt with the missing " ' " situation before I read it otherwise there could have been a fatality.

I loved the old version of Goodbye Mr Chips (Robert Donat version) but haven't seen the newer one. I'll keep an eye out for it, in case it ever makes it on to upside down tv. It's probably been on but not when I've noticed it!

Nothing much happening here. Pup has been on combat training I suspect as she has a habit of digging holes and then disguising them so you don't realise a hole is there until you twist your ankle. In the popularity polls there has been a swing away from her in favour of mainly harmless cat. I actually favour combat pup because mainly harmless cat attacked me the other day for no good reason that I could work out, I'm sure he had his reasons though, probably still the crime of bringing combat pup into the house!

I'm going to settle down and read my book for an hour or so while the younguns (stepson, 11, is with us for a couple of days) play on the x-box and before OH gets home from work.

Hope you all slept well and have a great day!

Just home from work and it's half past midnight and 26C, I think it was about 33C today. Felt worse though because it's all humid and horrible - it was almost a pleasure going into work to be in the aircon! ..... but not quite

Hope you all have a stupendous day - I'm off to read my book and try to unwind before going to bed. Can't be too late as need to be up in 6 hours - eeeep! One day I'll get a lie-in - just not sure when that will be though! I might need to run away from home to achieve this. I'm not ruling out the possibility

You're an inspiration Plum. Being positive works better when we know we can grump.

Here's a book recommendation. It looks like a bloke book (it's science fiction) but I swear, if you close it at the end without a lump in your throat, you're not human.

I'm going to treat myself and download it onto my kindle when I get home.... not that I'm not at home now but I'm just about to go out. Time to take OH to work and go and do Xmas shopping before the rest of the house wakes up - lazy gits! if I don't like the book, I'll be after you - sooner or later I will be back in your area mister!

The Nectar gods are telling you that you must save your points. Only the universe knows why.

4 pages? Positively succinct

Hope all counties are where they should be - ask your mum if you're going global yet. If you are, could I have the italian lakes/mountains. Very pretty.

Marvellous.
batgirl
22-12-2011
Funny you should say that Plummy. When I called tonight she was surprised to hear from me because I'm apparently in Norway, so while I can't do you an Italian lake right now I can probably manage a fjord. Clear a space...
ImaPlum
23-12-2011
Speaking of Fjords has put me in mind of Slartibartfast .... he made them dontcha know. Oh the joys of a classical education Enjoy your Norwegian interlude batty - who knows where or when you might next appear on the globe. I'm presuming that you are not constrained by time....

I just had a moment of panic while I was out. I've been saving for Christmas since the awful birthday incident and today I finally went out to get the ipod touch that LittlePlum has been hoping for and lo and behold it's the DS Lite situation all over again. Its this years must have in Cairns apparently and the shops are selling out fast. Finally got one but the lady was apolgosing prefusely for it only being in black, luckily LP doesn't like the white one anyway. Missed out on getting a bargain though but needs must when Santa drives and all that! I've been buying a few bits and pieces for her over the last few weeks and got some bargains - so feeling quite good about Christmas for her. None of the rest of us are getting anything but I don't care - she had a meagre Christmas last year and no birthday.... well not until Panzer Tank Pup came along... so I'm going to enjoy spoiling her even if Santa gets all the credit

Been a busy morning after a late night and I work til midnight again tonight, so I think a quiet afternoon is in order. It won't happen though I nicked a cryptic crossword from a paper in the staffroom at work last night, so I'm going to have a crack at that. Haven't done one since my dad died, we used to enjoy doing them together. It will be interesting to see how I get on on my own. Mind you, it was the Scotsman one we liked best and not surprisingly you don't get that here .... although you could probably order it at huge expense - you can probably buy books of Scotsman crosswords.

I'm wittering again

Hope you all slept well and you have a wonderful day tomorrow. May the shops be full of any last minute presents/food you need and be empty of other customers. Amen.

Combat Pup chewed ours, she was lucky to survive OH's wrath, the only thing that saved her from him was the fact that we had a spare one. In fairness to the pup, the cable was trailing along the length of the house in a tempting and yet hazardous manner, so she might merely have been filing a Health and Safety report puppy styleeeee. Hope your piggies are suitably apologetic... do you know which one did it? or are they sticking together and admitting nothing?

I'm just home from work. Store was open til midnight which is a first here, usually closes 9 ish weekdays. I don't think it was a resounding success. They probably had to pay more in staff costs than they made in sales. It kept freaking me out as I'm used to everyone going after an hour or so of me being there, but every so often tonight a "real person" would emerge and spook me. I'm sure they were doing it on purpose.

I'm so weary but my brain is still buzzing. One day I'm going to fall asleep and not wake up for days - well in my daydreams that's going to happen. Reality and LittlePlum will see to it that that never happens!

Anyway, I'll shutup so other people can get a post in edge-ways.

A propos of my crossword witter earlier, I just found that I can get the crosswords online! Yayy! Now I just need to remember this information rather than do what I usually do and forget my important discoveries within minutes

Make them pay for a new one out of their pocket money.

Plumster, I know how you feel (tired with buzzy brain). I'm on 2 nights with no sleep at the moment and just about coping but I know that my insomnia, when it hits, usually hangs around for 3 nights, so it's almost a given that I'll be bouncing off walls tomorrow. Still, at least I know I'll be bright eyed and bushy tailed at around 4am, so that's something.

Not a lot to do tomorrow, thank goodness... Buy all the prezzies, have lunch with ma (if I make it back from Norway in time), then finish off de-grotting the house. Oh, and I've some cards to deliver in person. Piece of cake.
