You deserve better after what you've been through Laura. If vibes were pennies you'd be in a five star hotel tonight.
Seconded

May 2012 be a healthier year - especially for Laura, but also the rest of us.

And please can someone line up all the bankers and shoot 'em to save our Batty the job

Shopping must have gone well then. I'm feeling particularly mellow today as I've been watching "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". That's what I call a musical.
Hi Biz

I'm with you on this. It's on Channel 5 at the moment. Cold, wet and miserable here so the fires on and we're curled up, watching it with grandson who we've been babysitting for.

Not exactly a bad start to 2012

Happy New Year to you all

Happy new year lovelies

Was right, royally gutted last night to have bought some lovely new shoes to go out in and then had to abandon plans at the last minute because I could barely stand in them let alone walk I ended up in a pair of boots that I could at least hobble in

May 2012 be kind to us all

*waves to ll our lovely visitors*

It's been piddling down all day here so we stayed in most of the day - got our exercise by putting Melony's favourite bangin' dance choons on the stereo and leaping round the carpet like loonies for 20 minutes
Ventured out after lunch to buy a paper and pop to Maccy D's for milkshakes, a change being as good as a rest and all that.

Cosy - it's the new exciting...

Happy ( but belated) New Year to my lovely grumpy old friends. I hope that you all go through the holidays with sanity and families intact. Mine was very quiet and cosy as my son had been to visit at the beginning of the month so we had our Christmas then.

I've been trying to catch up to thread from time to time but just have been busy doing other things. Life for me at the moment is relatively peaceful and calm. I was looking past at out earliest posts and I could that I posted over 10 posts in one day. I certainly had a lot to grump about. But now the newer mellower me doesn't need top grump so much so I'll just be dropping in every here so often from now on to see how everone's doing. The only fly in the ointment is that Mr Home's Oma and Opa are both losing their marbles and starting on their final descent. Not being able speak Dutch fluently yet I avoid their up to 10 calls a day they make because they can't work the tv remote control out. They've been re-housed to an accomodation for seniors with their own flats. They have a nurse to come in and clean and bath them since they seem to be forgetting to do that lately. Also, they've both become bit incontinent (both ways) on and off. Mr. Home has had to spend time with them ater work a coule of time a week much/ of the time spent tying to convenince one or both to wear their "Pamper" Then he usually has two accidents to clear up. I don't go as I have nothing to offer and can't speak Dutch so send my deep regards and sometimes cake.

(((((((special hugs to: Batgirl, Plummie,Handy, Sad,Snowy,KJ-all the stalwarts))))) you keep this place running nicely.

Happy. Healthy, Full of Love, Peace ,Stability and Prosperity New Year you all xx

Hello peeps. Hope things are well with you.

Had a fabulous little bug over the new year which started my diet off nicely. Have managed to eat some tuna and pasta this lunchtime without the smell making me wretch so it's onwards and upwards. OH has been ill all Crimble too so we are planning a second event - possibly in February if he is better but that will depend on the hospital.

Youngest has been asked to leave college because of poor attendance - that's what happens when you are ill! He has been told he can go back if we take in the hospital appointment letters etc and I have made an appointment this week to do this - but unfortunately he is a teenager who has taken his bat and ball home. He wants to be a dj - don't we all ? (well -maybe not)- and is convinced he will be discovered soon. As this state of mind - and the lack of emotional maturity is part of the condition - there is no solution any time soon.

And I thought I worried when he was a baby!

Still singing that same old song - Things Can Only Get Better - and then they don't!

Still, as the young lady who rang from the Red Cross to ask me to increase my contributions this morning told me about others who are far worse off I shall count my blessings. I am safe and warm in my house with food in my belly - and for now it seems to be staying there which is definitely a bonus.

Hoping 2012 will be better for everyone - although logic and common sense - as well as the law of averages tell me that this isn't actually possible. Buggeration and grrrrrrrr - that's a grump that's long overdue.

Now I've got that off my chest I'll go and put the kettle on. Just one question - does anyone have any cake? I always feel better with cake.

(((((((((((((Amica)))))))))))))) I would send you cake if I had any.... have some cyber cake, it's great stuff, non fattening and won't make you want to puke

Have had a similarly shite start to 2012 - going to be hearing today (I bloody hope) whether I'm going to be poked & prodded some more or chopped & sliced - and Little Saddette is in pieces as she's been dumped ... on the bright side, the prognosis could have been far worse, and if I'm going to be signed off sick, now's as good a time as any

*pours a cuppa and snuggles up to Amica*

((((((((((((((((Sad and Amica)))))))))))))))))))))) - it's all rather a lot, isn't it?
Hope you and your families all feel better soon for all the various reasons. Have a ton of vibes and all the cake you can eat! *mmmmmmmmmmmmwah!*

Hope you're getting poked and prodded , Sad.

helLo there SnOwy

Think I might actually stick to just the one piece of cake since the "diet" lost me a few pounds. Might just try to keep them off -

Do enjoy being tucked in though

*note to self : don't try to touch type in the dark.*

I just read my post back from last night and no-- I wasn't drunk or even tipsy. I'm a lousey touch typist in the best of conditions but was trying to do it after Mr. Home went to sleep and the lights were off.

Update to my post: Grandfather (Opa) was taken to the hospital tonight by ambulance. It doesn't look good.

I find a nice big fleece blanket can soothe a lot of ills, myself!

me@home - sorry to hear that
It's hard when oldies get really poorly. Hope he's not in pain for long and that the rest of the family are supporting him and each other

Thanks Handy. We know that there's some tough times ahead because if he goes soon Oma is 93 and very frail and senile and can't be on her own. Also, she's Swiss and has lately been speaking Swiss German and thinks she's speaking Dutch. She even tried speaking to me in German. (But both forget I exist when I'm not around and often ask Mr. Home if he's got a new girlfriend yet.) Mr. Home is hoping that it's over soon for both of them so they don't suffer. I could see that they seemed to have aged much more quickly over this past year.

I hope that Amica and Sad have some big fleece blankets. I'm sending some "get well soon" vibes for all those that need them.

Brilliant.

Hi me@ Lovely to *see* you, though it's sad to hear your news. Thank you for the card btw - made me smile.

Oh, and while I remember, could I put a request in grumpies? No birthday thread this year please. It's time to stop counting.

Amica - fab grump but I hope you're feeling much, much better now.

Sad - instead of reading "chopped & sliced" I keep thinking sliced and diced. Vibes are continuing to fly your way.

Here, the year is busying up. I really need to get my arse to Warsaw soon but there's loads I need to do here too. Maybe my resolution should be mastering the being in two places at once thing...

They tuck you up, your mum and dad,
They read you Peter Rabbit too;
They give you all the treats they had
And add some extra just for you.

They were tucked up when they were small
(Pink perfume, blue tobacco smoke)
By those whose kiss healed any fall,
Whose laughter doubled any joke.

Man hands on happiness to man,
It deepens like a coastal shelf,
So love your parents all you can
And have some cheerful kids yourself.

Found this - is it the one? It's certainly more positive than Larkin!
