Here, we're experiencing the full range of seasons today. It's winter at the moment with huge hail bouncing around outside, but the summer spells are lovely - blue sky and lots of sun. Gotta love April.

Oh I give up...exasperated at the daughter's total lack of enthusiasm for her course work - all of which she was given extended deadlines for to get it finished over Easter - none of which she has actually done. Now at the eleventh hour she is naturally panicked but still doing nothing. Every ounce of my being wants to scream at her but I know it won't achieve anything except a meltdown. It's like watching someone pressing a self-destruct button and knowing that there's nothing you can do to stop them.

On the plus side - since I don't think attending the same Uni as her ex-boyfriend is the best idea she's ever had - if she ends up NOT going to Uni at all, on her own head be it. There are plenty of other options... living at home rent free indefinitely will NOT be one of them

Minorities have rights too. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Did they make a coherent argument about why their kids couldn't use the park as PCSO suggested, or was their letter just childish sour grapes?

Mostly grapes. Accusing us of over-reacting by involving the PCSO at all - suggesting that we had not tried a polite and gentle approach ourselves and implying that we had 'shouted' at their offspring (certainly not the case - I don't shout at kids unless they're my own and it's actually been the mothers who have been venting at us for parking our cars in their way) - that sort of flavour. It was all about their right to be able to use the road 'reasonably' to learn to ride their bikes (not something any of us have objected to) and the park suggestion was conveniently ignored. None of us wants to get into a slanging match - so we're waiting to see what happens next - the football games appear to have stopped for now.

You can take a horse to water... Soooooo frustrating for you. (((Sad))) The good thing about this is at her age she can afford to make a few mistakes and although blowing her chance of Uni at this point might look like a big mistake, like you say she's got other options, including having a go at making a living without many qualifications.

Keep a good supply of that lovely chocolate, though.

I've vented my spleen by contacting the people who were meant to have offered her help a year ago which never materialised. It won't achieve much but it sure as heck made me feel less impotent temporarily

Take it slow at work - are you phased return? You'll be even more tired than you think you will be, so my advice is buy loads of stuff you can shove in the oven for tea and let the other three fend for themselves at home for a few weeks - you've GOT to put yourself first.

I sound horrible, I know, but she can put it right and it might just be what she needs. I made a proper dog's bum of my A-levels because I got a bit cocksure and was busy with my social life, and I worked a lot harder at uni as a result.
And a degree's no guarantee of a job, is it?

Madam has already decreed that if she fails her A's this time round she won't go to Uni. Part of me thinks she's deliberately set herself up to fail so that she has an excuse not to go through with it. Who knows, eh?

I've had a strange day, trying to get some work done while getting all kinds of calls I could've done without. But I have a cheeky PG and a Practical Magic DVD for tonight so things could be worse.

It went okay but I'm utterly knackered and seriously toying with bed. At 9pm. Yep, me.

More than you know

After lots of rain we have lovely sunshine here and it's ever so hard to be motivated to clear up a room we laughingly describe as 'the playroom' (i.e. the room where all the surplus junk has been dumped for the last ten years). However, the deal is that Little Saddette gets this as her bedroom (so when she goes to Uni - ha!!!! - we have a decent spare room we can use) and I get her little room as an office... which I will need, sooner rather than later... so ever onwards etc....

I slept in so I'm trying to make up for it

We're reorganising our upstairs roms this summer as Her Ladyship will be moving to the Big Bedroom

I'm phased return. Two days this week, three next, then an increase in hours and days over the following fortnight - full time in 4 weeks.

Have overdone it anyway, the tummy has swollen and don't talk to me about blood pressure after the conversation I've just had by text with the daughter.

And I've had to cancel the vet until tomorrow as the delivery people haven't shown up yet today.... gaaaaaah.

...........it's the little things, innit

Twagging = skiving, legging it, dobbing off, ducking it... time off when you're not supposed to be!

I was mornings only for two weeks then full-time after that; it made a difference.
