Look, everyone - Amica ***is*** The Hangover Part Two!

Oddly, we borrowed The Hangover from lovefilm as our Bank Holiday treat!

Our laptop is totally deaded, needs a new hard drive. Awaiting delivery of same. Thank God for school internets!

Hope everyone who needs GOW vibes today is feeling the love. Special huggles to:
(((((((((Sad and batty and laura and plummie)))))))))
...for all your various reasons.

Sad - I've said it before and I'll say it again: a sh1t job is worse than no job. You're well out of that one!

Grumpy old woman here. Full of a cough and cold and generally feeling sorry for myself. I hate being unwell and haven't been so all winter. It drains all my energy and makes me feel absolutely useless when I've got a million things to do.

Gggggruuuummmmpp!

(((Amica))) just a gentle one in case you're a bit fragile...

Sad - I hope you're taking good care of yourself, what with that, erhm, virus that's going round.

I'm playing the drying washing lottery with the weather. So far I'm winning, just.

Hi Bex. You're in the right place for grumping.

Sad - see, there is something going round.

Oh good! It's not as if I don't need an excuse to shirk house work but looking at the piles of clean and dirty laundry and then at the rest of the house, it just makes me feel worse.

The kids made sure they worked a tornado of mess through the house over the bank holiday weekend. Little shhhweeties

A few questions, if I may.

Is the existing laptop under guarantee. Have you ordered/purchased a new laptop or a hard drive.

Nope, lappy is a few years old and passed down from family member.

One of the chaps in our school IT suite is an ex-pupil and does guvvys for me - I've heard the drive ticking!

New hard drive is hopefully on the way at a reasonable price, and when it's arrived and he's rebuilt it he's NOT putting Vista back on it. So it's an ill wind and all that...

Can you believe I actually did two extra hours at work this afternoon? I'm going to make myself too poorly to go to work on Thursday and Friday at this rate

... seriously though, the work IT system kept crashing today. I owe two lovely chaps in the IT dept big hugs for managing to recover a lost spreadsheet that had taken me all day to update but had vanished complately after one such crash.

The new phones spent all day logging themselves in and out of the network... so I got my old one out of the drawer and used that instead

It's been that sort of day... *sigh* I have to be totally honest, the temptation to walk away completely at this point and go off sick for the rest of the year is mahoosive

Windows 7, all the way, for sure. Try and get an installation disk as well.

You can still do it - I no longer have the Dutch courage.............after me...1....2...3... arsebiscuits (I only whispered. Did you say it out loud?)

Seriously though, Sad, no job is worth your health. For goodness sake, look after number one - no bu**er else will! You won't be thought any better of if you make yourself poorly and neither will you get medals for going in.

I promise to say arsebiscuits very loudly if things don't improve Honest

On the plus side it's only a fortnight till half term. Where's the time going?

What Amica said. With bells and whistles on.

And yes, jra, that's what we're doing!

It's finally bloody warm.

It was 2 degrees at night here only 2 days ago.

Sun's out, birds are singing.

I've still got shedloads of urgent stuff to sort out but I feel a lot better about it... amazing what a bit of sunshine will do!

It's warmer though, snoWBes, definitely... it won't go below 14 degrees or something silly tonight. What's all that about when it's still bloody pouring???

First proper team meeting tomorrow with us all there since we got our VR requests accepted. Suspect I will need tissues. Or a big bag to put the body in...

My Dad's sister sent me a card with this on the other week. I feel it's appropriate to quite a few of us atm, and I offer it as a source of comfort and inspiration to all GOWs...

*clasps hands and casts eyes humbly downward*

Dear Lord, in times of stress
Grant me the serentity to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill today
Because they got on my nerves.

Amen

Sadperson

It was out initially, shame it didn't last. As for the birds singing, check out the video on my fb. Had a good day at work today - well, almost.

It's been tanking down here tonight, but it didn't start till about two in the afternoon.
And at least it's warming up!

Yay for (almost) good days at work.

I've got my work laptop at home and am theoretically marking...

Ever have that feeling where getting things done is like kicking a dead whale off the beach?
