Ever have that feeling where getting things done is like kicking a dead whale off the beach?
All the time, darling, all the time

Not a phrase I've heard before or a task I've attempted. Doesn't sound like fun.

Maybe you should try knitting fog or nailing jelly to a tree. At least it would be jollier and less physical.

Alternatively, you could call Greenpeace.

Hope you achieve your objective soon or you could open a bottle of the chicken beer you like.......

I must be tired, it took a while for the penny to drop.

Spoiler

I'm trying to avoid the demon drink for at least three days continuously once a week. Last I heard it was not allowing recovery time that was the danger.

I'm aiming to keep it between Friday night and Sunday night inclusive; much as it would be nice to leave out Monday evening, well, it's Monday and one's resolve is weak and there's usually the odd can left over. I've managed to leave out the last two Fridays but that won't last either.

Arsebiscuits!

Just when I think something is going to work out well for me. Found a great little car, bank confirmed that I could have a loan which would cover the cost and insurance etc.. private sale, one owner, low kms - perfect condition, good price. All i needed was confirmation from our DSS equivalent the amount of family tax benefit that I will be paid as that would be needed on top of my p/t job income to make the loan feasible. So i went to see them, and they said it will take 6 weeks to process. I know how much they;ll pay me, they know how much they'll pay me, but it has to sit in a pile for 6 weeks. I'll miss out on the car. I'm just so disappointed, I thought I was going to have the first win in years where something would go my way, It seems it's not to be though and I'll be stuck here for weeks to come. I'm now being a proper whinging pom!

On the plus side...... you'll have to give me a minute, I can't think of one at the moment!

Ahhh yes, on the plus side, YoungPlum was sent to school with $5 yesterday to buy me a mother's day gift from the stall they have there each year. She is rotten at hiding surprises as she just wants to tell me! First of all she said, it's something she knows I like a lot and she knows it's a good brand! Well that's ok because that hasn't given anything away...... but then I happened to say later in the evening, "I think I should cut down on my tea" ... which was a propos of nothing and just randomly popped in my head as a thought, and she looked horrified and said, "you can't, mum, you musn't ... not til after sunday!" so I jokingly said, "why? you've not bought me teabags have you?" and it seems she has - probably very nice ones though, I got the giggles badly as I couldn't believe she had or that I had accidentally guessed!! I told her it will be a most excellent gift and that she has recognised one of the key components of buying a gift, getting something that the person really likes! So she is somewhat reassured, but it's still amusing me!

Well there you go, life isn't all bad when you have a YoungPlum to entertain you

That's a good metaphor, and I'm liking it.

I feel more as if I'm standing on the beach while people pelt me with rancid whale-meat...

((((((((((((((((Plummie))))))))))))))))) - what a bugger!
Still - get your loan, then look for your car. Another one will come along, you'll see.
And Little Plum and you together can defeat the world! *kiss*

It's being stuck here for another potentially 6 weeks plus then finding a car. If I move out now, I'll lose my job because I won't be able to travel to/from work, I just can't face staying here much longer though as the strain is getting too much even for my broad shoulders. I am absolutely gutted and for once can really not see the way forward. All I can do is keep on keeping on and hope for a miracle.

Thanks for the kind thoughts though, they help

Plums, there's always hope and there's always a way forward.

I have great faith in you, my dear.

This too shall pass, and each day ticked off is another step forward.

Thoughts and vibes and prayers with you always xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Proper arsebiscuits Plummie But everything happens for a reason, trite as I know that sounds... maybe it won't be six weeks, maybe there will be a better car. Surely your bank statements would suffice as evidence? Also, won't you be entitled to more when you're moved? Sending hugs and wish I could send you the dosh xxx

It's not that bad. Just make sure you're more than a quarter of a mile away.

What a complete bummer Plummy. I keep thinking of you and hoping things improve somehow. Hey, at least you won't be short of a nice cuppa.

My grumps are small compared to yours - raging PMT, a nuts mother, too much to do and not enough time, pissy weather... I'm going to ask Batman to buy a lottery ticket on the way home and if we win I'll send you a few grand, from somewhere sunny.

My cure for PMT was a bit radical, but it works!

Friday!

Hell yeah! *punches the air*

May Babies do this.

If you end up loaded you could get Lionel to do a gig at your mansion.

I'm drinking 1664 from a 25cl glass, trying to stay classy. That bar is not far from the "Boulevard de Leeds" - how French is that?

BG, if I win the lottery big time, I'll ask Lionel on our behalf. I'm sure he'll be up for it.

If me@home is listening, a Donald Fagen / Steely Dan gig at Selhurst Park would do nicely.

We've twice the chance of getting Lionel then. Looking good.

How much are you after and what's it for? (imagine I've won 3 million and I'm keeping 2)
