I'm Very Grumpy!

I already spend far too much time running around doing stuff for other people, and do you know something? The more I do, the more people expect me to do. Grrrrrrr...

Hello, thanks for sunny SMS on Saturday, beer festival was fab, sorry snowbes, yesterday went pear-shaped.

Our house was invaded by a beetle the size of a small cat last night, its wings made a bass note, the antennae had little balls on the end, it was evil-looking and totally freaked me out when it few close to my head.

I 'received' what looked like one of these the other day.

Hello, all!

((((((batty))))) - that's one of the unwritten laws, innit - the more we do, the more is expected of us.
Hope you feel better today

Happy Birthday belatedly to snowy - I think!

Frenetic end-of-deadline stuff here, exams and coursework and all that stuff. Roll on half-term and a bit of village-y Jubilee-related frippery!

Is he for or against snOwy?

Thanks for the hugs handy. It's one of the major down sides to working from home - people think I have endless supplies of free time to devote to anything and everything but the fact is that if I don't do stuff between 9 and 5 then it has to be done... in the evening, during the night, at weekends... Or maybe people think that there's some other time slot, that exists just for the self-employed, a bit like office hours but not quite.

Grrr...

Having said that I thought stuff it today and had lunch out with some chums. And it was a long one.

Just out of interest, when you say you work from home, what do you do?

My latest exploit is reheating some nice takeaway chicken in the microwave and it caught fire, as there was a metal foil lining in the wrapping.

I've only acquired a microwave recently and am still learning what you can and cannot put inside.

It wasn't a Brainiac, where they put all sorts of stuff inside and the microwave explodes.

Plus, I managed to dunk my very expensive mobile (£15 including £10 topup), so I've ordered another for £20 (including £10 topup). First was a Nokia, this one a Samsung.

I call it copywriting jra, but I also do research and stuff like that. Most of my work at the moment is for a Swiss investment company/bank and I'm knocking their marketing literature into shape. I've also had interest from a publisher who's seen the first bit of a book I'm writing. She wants to see more asap and I might've been a bit of a fibber when I initially said how much I had ready.

What do you do, apart from exploding takeaway chickens?

I'm a landlord and it seems I spend most of my time dealing with that.

Regarding posters missing in action, what happened to ohmygosh and real pyrrhic (sp).

omg drops in from time to time and says "hi" and tells us all which part of the world she's zooming off to next

RP went back to RL - I was in touch with her for a while but she seems to have fallen into radio silence. I'm hoping this just means all is going well for her; hopefully I'm right.

It's piddling down here - right on lunchtime break, of course!

Thanks for the update. So, RP is living normally, not like all of us DS stalwarts and OMG is a jet setter.

Btw, batgirl, I'm putting in a dibs for a signed copy of your book when it's finished.

Jon the queue, matey I'm hoping for a first edition copy to show to my grandchildren... she'll be famous, y'know

I think goshie still lurks from time to time but she's a proper jetsetter now.

24/7 pops in and out too, as do others...always lovely to see them when they do

Here, I've had a pants week and am going to indulge in some comfort cooking - toad in the hole - before going off to a book club (that's code for 'talk about the book for ten mins and gossip for the rest' in this particular corner of the village )

Another home worker here. My greatest achievement has to be avoiding recreational Internet usage during work hours.

I do a bit of that too.

Don't hold your breath waiting for that book. The speed I'm going at I'll be retired by the time it's finished.

24/7 should pop in all the time. The username gives it away.

How's me@home doing anyway. Is she still with 'this' guy in Amsterdam, IIRC?

Good title for the book.

Thanks, I'll consider it.

me@ is now a happily married woman, living it up in Amsterday. She also pops in from time to time to update us on her doings.

Here, I'm as excited as a little kid because we're off to see Prometheus later. Eek. There was a midnight viewing last night and we did consider it but one friend still has kids at school so sensible heads won. But I'm glad now because... it's so exciting!!!

Let us know about Ridley's latest endevour. I'll buy it on DVD when the price is right and after checking Rewind.

We might actually get to see Prometheus at the flicks *woot*

Missed The Avengers last month, so think I deserve a bit of Ridley.

Do I need to tell you what I do?

Those extremely long holidays you get give the game away handy.

*runs away and hides*

Oh, the film was okay-ish but with a crap ending. I know it's supposed to be a prequel but it was still crap. Cod philosophy and as subtle as a brick.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely give it a miss in that case, until I see it on the box.
