You'd love it here KJ .... sometimes when they are advertising homes for sale, they'll put a picture of a humungous shed instead of the house in the advert ... it's all about the shed! Aussie men like sheds, or up here they do anyway! Huge shed for sale comes with house included.

I'm currently having a battle of wills with the cat. It's been going on for a day or two now. He is sulking because he doesn't like his cat food and is on hunger strike. I maintain that is is perfectly good food and he can eat it .... he does have dry food as an alternative, I'm not that mean. At the moment it is in a stalemate situation. He is sitting in front of the monitor glaring at me and I am ignoring his childish behaviour

Ultimately I think he will win, but I'm not letting him know that. Looks like new catfood will be going to the local cat sanctuary and I'll have to find something else. He is a fussy little toad but very entertaining.

The weekend paper had a few reasonable sounding jobs in so I'm back to letter writing and emailing this morning and trying not to think about interview tomorrow

Better weather here today, and mostly a pleasant domesticky daybut a very tired toddler who was A Bit Silly for most of the evening and took a while to get off to sleep - again. She's off it at the moment, probably cos I'm as jumpy as a bag of fleas and it's rubbing off on her. Poor Melony.

Apparently the inside of my abdomen is a proper old mess - endometriosis, bloated Fallopian tube, half a ton of giant fibroids... but nothing that's going to see me off prematurely (at the moment, at least). Phew!

Melony's grossest moment not as bad as that, but pretty gross; the first time I took her to Tesco's on a solo flight (aged about 19 months) I let go of her hand for a second or two and she spotted something that had rolled under the edge of the clothing display, bent down and stuffed it in her mouth.
Me (horrified): M, what's that???????
Her: (in tones of deepest satisfaction): Grape!
Doesn't seem to have done her any harm...

I am currently cacking myself quietly. Interview in an hour and a half - eeeeep! LittlePlum was giving me advice this morning.... she told me to make sure I was prepared, so I asked if that included taking a bucket with me in case I was sick? she just rolled her eyes long-sufferingly, then she told me to tell them that I was always ready to work, so I asked if I should take my dishwashing gloves and a dustpan and brush with me to show commitment, again she rolled her eyes but told me that I was to be serious, and I said well I'm a cheery person and I have to be me, to which she sagely replied ... "yes mum, be you but be a better you!" Out of the mouths of babes.....

It's ridonculous, I know I can do the job, I just need a job so much that I'm getting myself quite disproportionately wound up! I sent off another couple of job applications yesterday, so there are other irons in the fire but at the end of the day, everyone likes approval and no-one likes rejection..... waahhhhhhhh! I want my mummy!

I know what you mean about the news - I've been watching it all unfold on Sky News and the BBC website. It's depressing/disturbing viewing. I used to work in Croydon and go past Reeves corner regularly on the bus. Too many idiots in this world, it's all so pointless.

Well, I'm going to put all that out of mind for now and will get back to reading my resume, I used to be ever so clever you know, I can't blame all my lunacy on LittlePlum,

ImaPlum - You are clever. You have even more knowledge now than you ever had. Just pretend you are confident - and before you know it you'll have confidence in yourself in bucket loads - to other people at first. Think of all those skills you have. You can organize, delegate, take charge, work as part of a team, multi task, prioritise, and budget. That's only scratching the surface. Your man management skills are outstanding, oh and what about your role as peacekeeper? You also know when to say something and when to keep your mouth shut. Any employer should be over the moon to have you as part of their team. Good luck with the interview x

If we are setting up a swap shop for offspring. What's the best deal I can get for THREE yes THREE Slavettes? I'd like a couple of younger ones - aged from 11 downwards would be ideal. The Three Slavettes all come as a package but I'd be willing to consider any two of three for the right exchange.

Oh and the downstairs toilet update. The newly plastered wall is taking a wee bit of time to dry out. The new radiator (it's actually a headed towel rail - small one) we had to get 'cos someone stole the old one from the front garden was a bit of a sod to fit. Himself had to do "stuff" to the pipes then do lots of plastering. We need to wait till the plaster has dried out before putting the wallpaper on apparently. Himself reckons tomorrow is wallpaper day. It goes on, the new posh radiator goes on and we will have a dead posh downstairs loo. Just in time for #3 Slavettes' Birthday

The Slavettes have been struggling. They don't know how anyone can live with only one toilet. I told them it's how most families live. Not everyone has the luxury of having a downstairs loo. Then again not every household has 8 adults living in it at times. Goodness how do we manage with just one bathroom?

Sad - as tempting as your offer sounds ( ) I'm going to keep my one for now. He probably saved my sanity today. Ma's going through a bad patch - or maybe she's just got horribly worse - and without his hugs and wise words I would've been a mess earlier. I need him to keep reminding me that I'm not reasoning with my mum but trying to reason with dementia.

Morning all

No news re outcome of "interview", they still had 4 people to see after I left. Apparently they had 64 people apply, so at least I got into the top 5 . I don't think I'll have got it for several reasons (1) I don't think they believe I will stay if I did get it (2) they didn't actually ask me any questions they just talked at me for 25 minutes - I don't think they are used to interviewing to be honest (3) they told me I'd have to go to the Gold Coast for training (which is just outside Brisbane) and I said that would very difficult because of LittlePlum, they did say they could possibly work round that as HR bod comes up from time to time ..... and there was a 4th reason but I can't remember it now! It's a bit of a bugger because apart from the fact that it's casual as in if you don't work you don't get paid, so no sick leave, holiday leave etc... the hours would be great though and fit in with school hours and they are very flexible apparently if you had things to do.

Hopefully I'll hear one way or the other today, and til then I'll just keep applying!

My step-son and his g/f came round last night with their 2 new puppies, I love puppies and these 2 are gorgeous. They are allegedly a Rotty/Kelpie cross, one is grey with a lovely black patch on one eye and is cute as a button and the other is the runt of the litter and is tiny and all black and has no tail, it was born like that, it looks more like a little black bear cub than a puppy! I want her! Cat huffed off in disgust when they arrived and our dog went into full-on mummy mode and started cleaning them up and teaching them manners.

Well that's all the news from here. I'll let you know when I know .... I'll need to snivel at someone if it's bad news and I need to keep on a brave front at home so we don't get too down in the dumps!
