You really are better off staying with the older set etc until there bugs are sorted out with the "trail" set.
With the Web stuff, its turns out the Aberdeen team may in fact have some control over this. ... oh well lol ... being honest I know some will disagree but I wish that the "split" bulletin just goes back to one whole bulletin - reason i say this is whats the point for 3-5 mins to cover "dundee" then go back - sometimes they cover dundee during the programme (which they did under "north tonight") so I hope that gets scrapped (doubt it) and the STV North bulletin becomes one again

I doubt stv will do that, I agree the Name "North tonight" and "Scotland today" should return especial with "Scotland Tonight coming in.

being honest I think the "names" should have never been taken away from the areas - as it served as an "identity" to the region (can also be wrong) but when it became "stv news at six" to me in beginning I assumed it was all coming from Glasgow but then STV (will credit them there) that they put on the "STV swivel" - viewers in STV North the bulletin......

Just finished dancing round the room with joy as Doc Martin reaches STV-land at the same time as the UK!
Result. But what on earth is this 'STV Appeal 2011'? Can anyone remember the previous 'appeals'? Hours of peak time have been signed over to this fund raiser which I think may be the last straw for the remaining STV viewers. One programme features '6 celebs dining on the royal yacht Britannia on a meal prepared by surprise chefs'. How on earth does hiring Britannia and feeding celebs raise money for good causes? And will Miss McManus be one of the celebs or one of the surprise chefs? Many will suspect that the good cause is STV's own bank account to help fund the wonderful purchase of Downton Abbey....... Oh well, another good book beckons for next week. |

Bidie did you read my post earlier in thread - the last appeal I remember was back in 90's with the "ITV Telethon" - I don't think STV use straws - I think they chuck tiles off rooftops at passers!

If ever there was a programme "not relevant" to Scotland this is it!
http://www.itv.com/presscentre/littl...7/default.html And Stv are plugging it big time. Wonder if it's because it's a cheap Doc & not an expensive drama?? Embarrassing. |

You couldn't make it up!!!!!!!!!!!!
They will make reference to the Auld Alliance, if questioned. But you have hit the nail on the head - we have had no shortage of cheap documentaries - all about the wonderfully relevent Car Crime Cops in Manchester for example, and the only Scottish link I could see was that it was narrated by Trevor MacDonald...... |

Stv Appeal 2011 Ad
I caught the ad for the STV Appeal (happening on tues/thurs and Friday - correct me if im wrong) but the voiceover didnt sound so enthuastic about it!
all I heard was "go scotland" and to "watch out for the SPECIAL shows" - I would rather jump ship! - oh and I did manage to catch lorraine/michelle making an appearance too! - is this all we got for "scottish" celebs?Let me guess it all be "scottish" themed (artists etc or will some "english" celebs creep in too! lol) the friday LIVE appeal is on at 8-8.30pm and 9-10pm! STV may as well have "missed" corrie and ran it from 8-10pm! but I guess throwing in corrie in the middle of it they must want the viewers to make bids!

8.5 million watched the return of Doc Martin, I expect at least 1 million of those would be Scots viewers, thrilled to bits to see it back, broadcast at the same time as the rest of the UK.
LOL moments galore as STV, through clenched teeth, trail "the last episode of series 1 of Downton Abbey on Sunday afternoon, followed by the first of the news series on the same day at 9". ![]() Anyone know how the appeal is going? |

STV's best pals the SNP Govt in Scotland is going to match whatever STV raise. Good news but you'd never catch Fat Eck matching BBC Scotland's fundraising attempts for Children in Need?
Stv today announced 2 new opt outs today "Scotland's Greatest Government" and "Scotland's Fat Politician of the Year". I admit here I vote SNP however when I see one of the ministers speak to STV news regarding giving money to this appeal it does raise questions (yet again - as was this not happened regarding "homecoming")? - more funny was she was all ![]() about it on the interview! (I would also gather STV have not learnt their lesson if this flares up)I am not going all political here but surely politics should have no influence in the media (generally speaking) or am I wrong here? I heard of another 2 opt outs also supersaint ... "Scotland's greatest tartan army" and "Scotland's Eurovision Entries"

I think the SNP have said they will match the amount raised but, as any of us tempted by these TV give-a-thons are more likely to support Children in Need/Sport & Comic Relief, I like to think that Wee Alex will be able to match the public response to this latest STV schedule filler by simply emptying the money out of the Parliament biscuit 'honesty' box........
£1.53, 2 washers and 6 Euros...................

The reason he is backing their campaign is that they "Scottish" in their name & not "British".
Either that or there is more "backhanding" going on here .... does not surprise me in the least

ITV have some movie premieres going out on Saturday nights, Duplicity this week, American Gangster next week. But STV showing Mystery Men & Oceans Twelve instead.
So what's the deal there then with the films ? STV not willing to pay for the premieres ? |
