Does Scotland Tonight actually get attention on in the Border region? (ie if people have access to cable/sky/freesat to watch STV?) |

Or why do you not email ITV and ask them to "buy" it in then or why does ITV Borders not do a programme similar?
Does Scotland Tonight actually get attention on in the Border region? (ie if people have access to cable/sky/freesat to watch STV?) Saying that ITV border actully follows STV schdule until 00.05, if there is show on itv at that time slot if, not Border puts out a 30mins filler to 00.35. Come March and April, when Tom Bardly Agenda is on twice a week, Border will have to follow STV, and slot in filler from 23.35-00.35. The money is on the 1 hour shows dropped, with ITV placing a film on from 23.05-00.35. |

ITV border scotland does do a simailer programme, "Repesenting Border". ITV only do this at the bequest of Ofcom.

if true that ITV are placing a film on will STV follow suit or are we going to be stuck with the usual fillers on repeat or the STV viewing public going to see programmes missed?
People need to remember STV are showing stuff 30mins after ITV for Scotland Tonight to be slotted in. |

If the film pops up on a wednesay STV can't follow suit since it to will have to broadcast Agenda at 23.05. It will probely have something to be shown at 23.35 so no film for STV.

I understand that so if no film I guess jezza repeats once more then nightscreen from 1am? Yet STV hardly show any movie premieres these days. STV can still do it if they stopped doing nightscreen/nightshift but I forget the shareholders are more important than their actual viewers how I keep forgetting that (where are the roll eyes icons on here when you need them)

I do agree with you STV could slot in films during the week, even if it appears at 23.05 on Tuesdays or 23.35 or 00.05 On wendesdays.

I am pretty sure that ITV/STV can come to some sort of arrangement on showing certain shows - but then again surely STV should be showing us missed shows if thats the case?

You do know, when ITV/STV and UTV resloved its problems, STV and UTV now pay a yearly fix fee for all ITV programming, So STV can pick and chosses what it broadcasts.

but I still believe missing programmes should be aired that week than what they are most famous for - air it shuffle it then disappear then shuffle some more - in saying that ITV can choose if it wishes any STV programmes, STV are lucky they have a programme on ITV and thats the rebooted 'catchphrase'
When it comes to STV you can't have your cake and eat it. |

Under the rules STV must broadcast around 2 hours of local promgrammes in peak time, this mean it has to drop some ITV shows, If there were to broadcast these within a week it would have to be around 23.35 or 00.05 which means No films.
When it comes to STV you can't have your cake and eat it. As for the slot you suggest technically they still can: 23:35 - The Hotel 00:05 - Marvels Avengers (making these up) Out of the 5 main channels BBC 1 at night simulcasts BBC News BBC 2 has some programming ITV/STV varies by night Channel 4 has actual programming on from midnight to 6am! Channel 5 pending on schedule has casino on from 1.10am and after 3am returns to programming. Yet people moan about the BBC yet look mostly at ITV/STV after midnight its a rush to get off air as soon as possible! |

I dont know either, since I dislike much of the local output. The good stuff from even up to 2002 when Sandy was in control you know might get something good. But now... Yuck
I believe once STV wins the Dundee and Aberdeen Local TV channels It will slot in Promos for those channels. STV edinburgh is now being adversited. |

I believe once STV wins the Dundee and Aberdeen Local TV channels It will slot in Promos for those channels. STV edinburgh is now being adversited. If they take the "local" slots for Dundee - what will the output consist of old "grampian" or basic "scottish" tv output? Or will it be another channel that'll flick over to STV Glasgow but be renamed Dundee for the sake of it? I personally ain't looking forward to another STV channel in my area, I see no real need for it if I am honest. From reading on here regarding STV Glasgow - seems more like its a "classic" channel for Scottish TV output with repeats of Scotland Tonight and few other programmes but the rest is Taggart - not really "local" output is it? Surprised STV aint repeating "Fun House" or "Finders Keepers" on STV Glasgow or even "speaking out language" (STV's Gaelic programme now on BBC ALBA), I just see STV cares more about its shareholders/profits than it does its actual viewers but ITV ain't better either in some parts and I acknowledge that |

Here then are the STV OPT OUTS up to & incl. Fri. 23rd:-
FRI. 16TH:- STV - NIGHTSHIFT, ITV - Gambling/Jeremy Kyle/Nightscreen. SAT. 17TH:- STV & ITV - As Friday. SUN. 18TH:- STV - As Friday, ITV - The Store/Jeremy Kyle/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle. MON. 19TH:- STV - SCOTLAND TONIGHT, JEREMY KYLE (x2), NIGHTSCREEN, ITV - Gambling/Jeremy Kyle/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle. TUE. 20TH:- STV - As Monday, ITV - Secrets From The Sky/Gambling/Loose Women/Jeremy Kyle. WED. 21ST:- STV - As Monday, ITV - I Never Knew That About Britain - then as Monday. THUR. 22ND:- STV - SCOTLAND TONIGHT, NIGHTSHIFT, NIGHTSCREEN, ITV - Around The House - then as Monday. FRI. 23RD:- STV & ITV - As Friday. Comment:- Not much of a difference between the 2 channels at the moment through the night, with both STV & ITV over relying on NIGHTSHIFT/NIGHTSCREEN & JEREMY KYLE. Primetime this week River Monsters (ITV) & ANIMAL 999 (STV) drop out due to the National Television Awards. OPT OUTS still not been shown on STV :- RIVER MONSTERS (current), COUNTRYWISE (Nov/Dec 2014), SECRETS FROM THE SKY (Nov 2014 & currently rpt. on ITV) , HOTEL IN THE CLOUDS (1 off, Nov 2014). |

It's an odd one, because I'm sure STV showed the last series (albeit delayed behind ITV) - never seems to be much about Scotland in it though so perhaps they've decided to leave it this time around because as you say it's more English focused.
Also I noted last night - meanwhile they plug STV Glasgow drama "missing" again I ask why plug a show where the majority of Scotland has no access to - unless you live in the area on Sky/cable/freeview or is it they want the whole of Scotland to tune into it! I do wonder if STV wins the other "locals" will they get the same publicity as this one or will they be basically trashed? (will the people of Glasgow see STV plug an ad for STV Dundee?? I doubt it lets be honest, everytime I see anything on there its main focus is towards the Clyde and the Capital (Edinburgh) anything outwith they couldn't give a fig!) STV Guide and watch Live on BOTH STV GLASGOW AND STV EDINBURGH - "THE MISSING" at 9pm (now), seems more like a simulcast from Glasgow?? ![]() ![]() spotted name difference STV Glasgow "the riverside show" STV Edinburgh "the fountainbridge show" (exactly same time) very creative they are at STV HQ |
