So whats the point of us in the STV North then? Are we just for news whilst the rest is coming from Glasgow? If its just for news we may as well just not exist at all as most of the time I can flick between STV (Grampian) and STV HD (Glasgow) and the bulletins look more simulcasting each other ie main headline but past couple nights I have seen news reports from my area looking more like its one of its own than simulcasting ie Electric Cars


I do hope your joking on that regarding Stephen Jardine/Mechelle were good hosts? Stephen Jardine I'll give him credit he was OK but what was the point in Mechelle she was more irritating than anything - show became more about the presenters than the guests

The point I am also trying to make is that STV should be doing more sharing of resources than the default of Glasgow all the time in their programming - if they have bases in Aberdeen/Edinburgh then surely make programming with more than just the one accent?

They did repeat Doc Martin (but that was when ITV were repeating it in the 4pm slot) but you also have to remember once the farce was over, STV then played "catch up" with Downton Abbey (famously known by STV as Downtown by Petula Clarke)

I am sure the millions of cricket fans in Scotland will appreciate the hour of cricket on STV tonight though I think I saw something about England losing so perhaps they will be happy after all.

lol .... can't be that bad ... Scotland already lost in a warm up match with the West Indies during the week - its a win/win situation

STV showing Cricket - I wonder if it'll be a "phase" the channel will go through? They ran STV Rugby for a while and that has disappeared off the screens (but they'll show the other highlights that ITV run though), and yet they still can't show any motorsport as previously mentioned an event that came from Scotland (Knockhill) they failed to broadcast (the irony of it all but mostly the stupidity of management at STV)

The Hour was up against it when they decided to move it from 5pm to 8pm - up against River City on BBC1 plus by then Stephen Jardine (who was fine) had left to be replaced by Tam Cowan. Personally I thought Meeshell was awful but at least Jardine and her balanced themselves out. Unfortunately Cowan and McManus were 2 of the same kind - broad, brash and down to earth - characteristics that would be alright if there was someone else (like Jardine) to tone it down, but for me the show just came over as being unappealing, annoying and amateurish. So I think a combination of the presenters styles, the production and the fact it was up against River City meant it was going to struggle.

I spotted the programme Animal 999 on Sky Livingit and Rebus on Alibi - so thats TWO STV shows currently bought in by Sky/UKTV (Rebus has been repeated anyway) but seems Sky have thrown a lifeline to air Animal 999

Good job on STV News tonight (shorter bulletin) (STV North), Andrea is saying "cheerio" for the night and is automatically cut off for the "24 hrs a day" title credit and it basically closes, is STV North "timed" to flick its switch back to the STV main feed? Its ridiculous most nights watching the news its rushed or faults happen to then rejoin back on STV's main feed, can that lot in Glasgow give STV North more control on when to rejoin feeds its not just that but its blantly obvious when you see the switching happening that they to will either miss part of an ad for STV ie STV Player

During 2014 STV secured the grand total of 4 commissions - cheap progs:- Catchphrase, The Link, Antiques Road Trip, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip - a far cry from their days of drama and progs. that could be sold around the world. Irony is that they reduce "the nighshift" for a while down to say 3 nights and then they now go full out and have it 7 days a week (STV that short on ideas at night time.... I thought it is bad enough seeing the likes of MTV carrying "teleshopping" but again I doubt OFCOM gives a damn about it as long as these channels have income and serving a purpose - time for channels to go!)

As you mentioned above regarding this lot with another "Scotland ....." STV heads are in the clouds they must have something to do with Scotland in a programme, wouldn't mind if they were half decent shows and I mean half decent shows than dodgy camera work as well as "cheap" looking effect, but again ITV are that bad when you look at "dinner date" wtf they using a camcorder? Its about time these "commerical" channels grew up a bit than looking for the lowest common denominator its a damn shame yet most people complain about the BBC ... take a look at these commercial channels for the answers as to why this is the way UKTV is running these days!

As for link provided - as if that wasn't the first clue, they announce "profits" but they are a channel that take risks these days, they rather have money kept in the pot for their shareholders as they are more important than the viewers, but again they say this so why no new programming (ie not the cheap tat they are throwing us at moment), as you said as well where are the dramas or other programming they could offer to ITV, UKTV let alone worldwide? They already blabbing on about their local channel and that they are reaching "92%" of Scots (interacting) really? Is that through your competitions and local (no sh..t Sherlock, even Det Rebus and Taggart could have told you that one STV!)

I rather see STV as a channel that had competition between Sky/BBC/ITV/CH4/5 than what we seeing at the moment, but give Sky credit at least they take chances on new programming (if it works its commissioned again or dropped) but STV its just mini shows for Scotland and hopefully flogged on a la UKTV/Sky
