Slightly off-topic but I stumbled onto STV Nightshift earlier. What was that chat show Jim White and Kirsty Young were hosting all about? All strange camera angles and trying to be a bit "edgy". Looks terrible. Does anyone remember seeing it first time round?

I believe it was called "late edition" - I will hazard a guess it was STV's attempt of Channel 4's "The Word"

Also what is the point of putting it on them as if you can get STV Glasgow/ Edinburgh then you can get STV”

I will guess the election programme will be one of their own --- but then why according to their own schedules on the STV website for STV Glasgow/Edinburgh stop at 955pm with nothing on as they close just after midnight - I still think STV is going to gamble this on the locals as well (basically a simulcast from STV), I get your point of no point putting it on the locals since you get STV but knowing this lot it really is about maximising profits no matter what sadly

Also slightly off topic but why do STV seem to show movies in a different aspect ratio from ITV? Noticed this with the Columbo movies, they're shown full screen 4:3 on ITV but 4:3 cut-out on STV.

On STV HD they show things in 4:3 cut out. STV SD show things in 4:3 full

Thanks kezo. Just from the couple of times I've seen clips from it, it does feel like their attempt at "The Word" but obviously it ended up a lot tamer. Rather cringeworthy but what isn't on Nightshift?

lol .... yes they manage to conjoure up even "teatime classics" .... yeah air AFTER midnight (where is the DS sarcastic symbol when you need it), as well as repeating The Hour with its too dated interviews - they be better throwing up an STV testcard with Mechelle and Lorraine Kelly

So I was right then? I'll agree with you previously but why so significant airing it on the "locals" as every household has access to STV or is it money talks with them?

I will be with the BBC thank you.

To be honest STV's news coverage in Glasgow at least isnt that bad I know it isnt as good up North but the election programme is coming from Glasgow so it shouldnt be too bad but I agree BBC and David Dimbleby are the best. I will be turning over to ITV on Friday morning as I cant stand Huw Edwards

Well I can assure you the SD transmission was definitely 4:3 cut out, and the picture settings on my tv are definitely correct!

But in saying that it is yet another programme coming from Glasgow - to me it says alot for channel known as STV (Scottish) - didn't realise us up North speak Glasweigan, i'll guess we will need to be educated next into speaking Weegie next nevermind Gaelic

Do you think he was on as a "one off" or does this happen regularly? I don't watch morning tv these days, I rather listen to BBC Radio 5 Live

Usually at weekends STV News in general comes from Glasgow - I guess STV North is closed at weekends too?

As for STV's election coverage - did they use other presenters from different areas (I did not see it but I wondered) or did they just use STV Glasgow crew to fill in??

I think it was a one off as it usually comes from Glasgow with Kelly Ann Woodland.

They used a variety of people for the coverage even Raman was used and Chris Harvey who is from the North was used too

I remember the days of GMTV and that we actually got news from Grampian ... shame really that even morning tv it has to becoming from Glasgow - what exactly do us in the STV North really exist for - just 5 min bulletins in afternoon and the 6 o clock as well as the late bulletin? Seems more like STV are aiming at a regional quota than a local quota but let alone it seems locally for us there is no output other than news in their programming

I wonder in STV's Big American Food Trip the words "Ulster Scots" will be said within the series or will this actually be different rather than trying to bring some sort of "history" into it? (the last programme even though it was OK but to keep saying "Ulster Scots" about 3/4 times an episode was a joke in itself) -had to double check there, why are STV showing the programme from episode 4 than 1? Have they just done an ITV now for a laugh (expect an on air announcement soon to say "sorry" but we'll air episode 1 next week), looked on STV site last week was episode 1 so why the skip to 4? STV you are a very odd channel these days! (and programme is made with UTV -- yep here we go again, gets the earplugs!)

Expect missing shows to appear either on a 3-4pm slot on ITV during the day (STV plays catch up) or ITV3, may as well give up on this lot

I noted last night on STV Nightshift they repeated the Kirsty Young interview with Dame Edna -- STV short on archived material that they repeat repeats no matter - just scrap the show and put something on during the night stop being lazy!

Does anyone at STV actually read a calendar?

This is now twice they have advertised the "STV's bank holiday is sponsored by Dobbies" ad - they seem to advertise this the week BEFORE its an actual "bank holiday" it is already annoying and I wonder if they are viewers out there that have got confused by this ad to end up looking up their own calendar to realise it aint a "bank holiday"

Comment: Due to Holiday Monday Big American Food Trip disappears from the STV schedule, The Big Fish Off arrives 1 week behind ITV on Tuesday night (will it last the 5 week run uninterrupted?!!) and bizarrely STV airs an Elton John concert from 2013 on Thursday night (guess that must have been on ITV 2 years ago?!! ). Now that's what I call catch up!!

ITV PROGRAMMES STILL NOT SHOWN ON STV:-

WILD IRELAND (April 2015), RAINING IN MY HEART (1 off April), POP GOLD (parts 2-7 March), MORE TALES FROM NORTHUMBERLAND (Feb), BARGING ROUND BRITAIN (Feb), SECRETS FROM THE SKY (Nov 2014), HOTEL IN THE CLOUDS (1 off Nov 2014 & rptd. ITV3 Feb 2015).

Another update:-

WED. 27TH:-
STV - SCOTLAND TONIGHT, NIGHTSHIFT, NIGHTSCREEN (ITV - More Tales From Northumberland/Gambling/Jeremy Kyle/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle).

THUR. 28TH:-
STV - SCOTLAND TONIGHT, ELTON JOHN (), NIGHTSHIFT, NIGHTSCREEN (ITV - Around The House/Britain's Secret Homes/Gambling/Jeremy Kyle/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle).

FRI. 29TH:-
STV - NIGHTSHIFT, NIGHTSCREEN (ITV - Gambling/Jeremy Kyle/Nightscreen).

SAT. 30TH:-
STV - NIGHTSHIFT (ITV - As Friday).

SUN. 31ST:-
STV - As Friday (ITV - The Store/Motorsport/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle).

MON. 1ST:-
STV - BIG AMERICAN FOOD TRIP (2 of 8) (ITV - Wild Exmoor - NEW) - primetime.
STV - As Wednesday 27th (ITV - Film: Carry On Cruising/Gambling/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle).

TUE. 2ND:-
STV - SCOTLAND TONIGHT, BIG FISH OFF (2 of 5), NIGHTSHIFT, NIGHTSCREEN (ITV - Big Fish Off (3 of 5)/Gambling/Loose Women/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle).

WED. 3RD:-
STV - SCOTLAND TONIGHT, FILM: CARRY ON CRUISING , NIGHTSHIFT, NIGHTSCREEN (ITV - As Wednesday 27th).

THUR. 4TH:-
STV - THE LIE - NEW, SCOTLAND'S MURDER MYSTERIES (2 of 8 ) (ITV - Big Box Little Box - New/Britain's Busiest Airport - Heathrow - New) - primetime.
STV - As Wednesday 27th (ITV - Gambling/Tonight/Nightscreen/Jeremy Kyle).

FRI. 5TH:-
STV - As Saturday 30th (ITV - Gambling/Britain's Best Bakery/Nightscreen).

Comment: BIG AMERICAN FOOD TRIP continues on Monday, but STV doesn't air new ITV series Wild Exmoor. Instead of sensibly following ITV and airing a CARRY ON FILM after the Carry On documentary late night Monday STV oddly decides to show it 2 days later on the Wednesday! On Thursday night it's another no show - this time STV don't screen Big Box Little Box and Heathrow - wonder if we'll ever see them?! Instead, quiz show THE LIE returns as does SCOTLAND'S MURDER MYSTERIES (2 of 8!).

So our list of "no shows" on STV increases yet again to around 10 programmes/series since late 2014.

WILD EXMOOR (May 2015), BIG BOX LITTLE BOX (May), BRITAIN'S BUSIEST AIRPORT - HEATHROW (May), WILD IRELAND (April), RAINING IN MY HEART (1 off April), POP GOLD (parts 2-7 March), MORE TALES FROM NORTHUMBERLAND (Feb), BARGING ROUND BRITAIN (Feb), SECRETS FROM THE SKY (Nov 2014), HOTEL IN THE CLOUDS (1 off Nov 2014 & rptd. ITV3 Feb 2015).

Baffles me suddenly they put Scotlands Murder Mysteries back on, still shows you those in control still don't know how to work a schedule and again I ask why they can't not air missed programming after midnight be alot simpler and it would give STV at least breathing space but I forget we will expect the missed shows to either be aired as a REPEAT on the ITV network between 2-4pm (or weekend) or if not expect the airing to be repeated on ITV2/3/4

What was "the lie" again ahh the programme with Scots Comedienne Susan Calman - looked basically a rip off of "who wants to be a millionaire" really (or something close to it), just looked up seems the programme was an irish show hosted by Johnathan Crea and aired on I believe a now defunct network called TV3 which is now UTV Ireland - can STV really get their fingers out their asses and produce quality shows for the ITV network let alone the Scottish public - they are sinking lower with their programming its becoming more unbearable

STV North news - does anyone at STV HQ catch anything that goes wrong in broadcasts from our area? It getting worse! Last week caught STV HD (now get that on my Freetime-Freeview Panasonic TV ... let alone I am Dundee how the hell I get it I don't know ... but transmitter info is supposedly "Highlands and Islands" ... answer that one!) as I digress caught on +1 STV North whilst in "sync" with John McKay in Glasgow regarding "Faslane" looked like Norman suddenly lost link - looked slightly lost but managed to carry on with next story, I have also noted any stories lost to "faults" they fail to return to them before the end of the programme (please scrap the split as this can easily be gained but I doubt it'll happen), but it still shows you how bad we are getting in the old Grampian area - just either put everything back under one bulletin or just close it down and we come from STV HQ in Glasgow
