Is that even an episode 'new' to STV, or has it been shown before ?

I'm surprised STV don't ask fans to donate money to buy in The Bold and The Beautiful for their daytime line up what with the new Final Destination movie (start from Diva TV episodes), and air it anywhere in their schedule (or ITV buy it and the ITV regions could air it anywhere they wanted, like what the CBS stations do). Same with a Oprah/Wendy/Rachel Ray-style syndicated Cheryl Cole show, where ITV regions air it at 12.30pm (if LW is axed), and others air it anywhere else.

TT could always use B&B in their late-afternoon line-up to compete with Jon and Anne on RN as it compliments their show well:

3pm Judge Judy (AT moves one hour earlier)

4.30pm B&B (other ITV regions air where they want)
5.00 The Cheryl Cole Show (The Chase moves to 12.30pm, the official CC slot)

Pretty sure it has been on before - I certainly remember one where the death took place on a golf course. Besides, with the daily repeats to fill the afternoon schedule the chances of it being 'previously unseen' have to be nil.

Meanwhile, the new (improved) midweek The Hour is directly against BBC Scotlands 'River City'.

I think if its up against "river city" I think thats where most will head - you forgot to mention we are in a multi channel age anyway guess most will also flock to ITV1 also or alternative I am sure some have probably got bored of seeing mcmanus on screen! :yawn: - STV the most "predictable" and worst channel of 2011!

STV must be holding back again - see the new midsomer in summer 2012 and possibly getting it on the cheap! and funny also they are 2 series now behind on ITV1 (new dudgeon) guess we are getting good quality programmes soon :sleep: what are they again??? - I see they have done a "like for like" notice?? - ITV1 (new) STV (old)

sweet jesus! - 3 series behind!! - oh well have to wait on a donkey to pick me up before we see series 15 on STV....

ITV are still on series 14 so were are only two behide...

Did STV broadcast Series 12?

This golf course one is familiar to me, so I assume it has been on before.

Maybe series 12 was the last one STV bought/showed so - in their opinion - it is the most recent so quite suitable to show instead of the newer series.......

I gave up on STV a long time ago. Now that I have Sky I watch itv1 London. Had to show my Mum and Gran how to find it when STV started opting out.

I have no problem with 'Scottish' programs, I've just never seen one on STV that's worth my time...... I mean 60mins of Michelle McManus a day, F**K OFF. lol

What did you expect Bidie STV are made of money and just recently showing Downton Abbey and Doc Martin - after viewers complaining not seeing them...regarding midsomer they rather keep us behind on that one! --- I wonder what the excuse in not showing the dudgeon episodes and I am sure the last series with John Nettles (before him leaving in last episode at christmas last year) was not shown either (not 100%)

Yes, we were short changed of the last 2 series with Nettles, but we did get to see his 'farewell'.

I expect series 12 is the last one STV has the rights to show, so they will put that in the Midsomer sized gap in their Wednesday night schedule AND HOPE NOBODY NOTICES.

Possibly .... wonder what they will stick on in that gap? ... possibly re-runs of "scotland's greatest" or "view from above and in snow" or just run as they claim "stv's underbelly"

I am sure though that if there is "midsomer" fans in scotland they bound to know when they see it on wednesday ... possibly you got to "complain" to STV before they stick what was "well known" to the network before its back on....but this is taking the biscuit...but obviously STV know what they are doing and to me its already crashed into the iceberg and is sinking slowly...(oh wait thats the titanic!)

I believe STV does not want to broadcast the new MM epsoide,..

that is not surprising since STV have not shown the last series with dudgeon on it....

more surprised read in sunday mail "seven days" they and I quote roughly "in this new series.....someone blunged to death on golf course" - techanically it aint NEW thats an OLD episode with John Nettles NOT Neil Dudgeon....by any chance does the sunday mail work with STV here?? ... maybe they too also should have researched this than said it was NEW....or is this the thing going on with STV labelling everything "NEW" nowadays??

I recorded You've Been Framed (I know, sad person that I am) at the weekend, and the only 'adverts' STV could manage between segments were for their own Autumn line up and a phone in quiz.

I wonder if they are toiling to find advertisers willing to pay to be broadcast on their channel?

Meanwhile, Lorraine Kelly (in todays Sunday Post) thanks all the viewers of Scotland who raised £500,000 for the STV appeal. Now I hate to be mean spirited, but that doesn't seem a lot to me - not when you consider the population of Scotland.

Maybe they should have followed the Children in Need format and had an evening of fund raising - 5 hours of programmes based around the appeal?

But perhaps the advertisers would not wish to 'rent' space in such a marathon?

I think the reality is they have lost so many viewers with their weird and wonderful programme buying policy that no matter how good a cause, the viewer numbers simply aren't there.

Still, cuddly Mr Salmond will match ever pound and the ever generous Tom Farmer has pledged £100,000 so the very worthy causes will not lose out.

I honestly think that if STV had not p$ssed off so many viewers, they would have easily raise £1 million for good causes.

The reason for YBF having lack of any proper adverts is so STV can slot in more ( and charge a higher rate ) adverts around more popular shows like the Z Factor, ITV does this aswell.....

Much as I hate the STV opt outs - I love Lewis and Midsomer Murders, I've just watched Downton Abbey and to me it's quite a lot of p!sh. Though I did laugh when the announcer trailed it as "downtown" abbey I do think STV might have got it right on this one!

I still never bother with DA, Nor Lewis, or even NEW itv Marple ( on one can beat BBC version)

I did as if Doc martin, missing 7 Midsumer , and a few other bits n bobs appeared all is forgiven and there have.

was that all £500,000? wow more like want to say £500 - I am pretty sure for it being like that as majority of people would have jumped ship plus they had it LIVE for an hour and half (during corrie) but I agree should have been more to it wanted "the people of scotland" to back it up...

I do give money to charity when I can (I volunteer also) and sometimes people like myself and others dont throw money at EVERY charity out there....I think with STV jumping on the bandwagon on "charity" people are possibly feeling fed up about it? Also anyone know if this is a YEARLY thing now? - if so ... I really dont know what to say being honest ... it will feel like "charity" will never be off TV!

Downton is never going to be everyones cup of tea. But thie first TV appearance of the legend that is Dame Maggie Smith should have alerted the bosses at STV that this was going to be something out of the ordinary in this day and age. Lavish sets, costumes etc and a story reminiscent of Upstairs Downstairs, it more or less had 'hit' written all over it. Audience numbers began high and climbed. It has won countless awards and is the all time best selling TV drama on Amazon. Sales overseas are incredibly high.

I like it and am looking forward to watching the new series. But what angered so many Scots - particularly the more elderly for whom a series like this is wall to wall heaven - was STV's refusal to show it, and come out with dumb statements like

"costume drama does not do well in Scotland"

and then be forced, tail between legs, to quickly screen series 1 as the tremendous backlash made them rethink their loopy decision. Lorraine Kelly, poster girl for all the Scotlands Greatest Mince shows said in a magazine interview last year that DA was her tv highlight of the year. Yet this is the show that her favourite employers denied the ordinary viewers in Scotland.

I said at the time that the STV bosses doubtless live in homes with access to ITV1. If they did not, their own families would probably have lynched them.

The ratings will be interesting. I think at least 1 million Scots will have tuned in. Taggart can only dream of such figures.

Not all ITV1 dramas are good. But to drop established series like Lewis, (we still have series 3 to see), Midsomer, Poirot - and Marple - Doc Martin, Foyle's War etc was shortsighted and incredibly stupid.

The excuses - "not relevant to Scotland" - when we are expected to watch 12 year old US series which were cancelled after 1 season (Fitz) made a mockery of the PR of a once respected broadcaster.

Not only did Stv deny their viewers the chance to see Downton Abbey they also sacrificed their best known show Taggart.
After 27 years of being premiered accross the network, Stv in their infinite wisdom decided to show Taggart first in Scotland. So when Itv showed it 6 weeks later, the 750K to 1 million Scottish viewers were not watching and the network screening took a big hit. And what did Itv do, drop it like a hot potato.
Well done, Stv another great move.
Great to see Downton Abbey win 4 Emmy's! Did the more relevant & better Taggart pick up any??
