Doc Martin:
5.35 it getting Better? why cant there have put it out on 9pm slot? or 8pm slot? or even 18.30pm slot??? I would have maybe slotted Doc Martin into the Monday night 9pm slot, as I'm sure most working within the TV industry would have guessed that "Show Me the Funny" would be a big old flop! |

STV to show Downton Abbey in Autumn schedule

The period drama follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants early in the reign of King George V. The show became one of the most successful UK period dramas ever. Bobby Hain, MD of channels at STV, said: "We’re delighted to bring viewers the first airing of series one of Downton Abbey in Scotland and the much anticipated second series as part of our autumn schedule. "Downton Abbey has proven to be a hugely popular drama and we very much hope our viewers enjoy it." Series one of Downton Abbey starts on Sunday August 7 and series two will follow on Sundays beginning on September 18. |

Nothing short of a Miracle!!!!!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-14230189 Downton Abbey - HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() Re odd timings for lost ITV dramas. I think this is so that the audience figures will not be particularly high and STV can still insist they were correct to drop them. Bury them in the schedule and prepare your defence statement. |

Seiko - we crossed in the post.
![]() I would still like to see Midsomer Murders at the same time as the rest of the UK. Drop the stand alone dramas, STV, and save money that way - many of them are not up to much. But keep the old favourites - they have a fan base and it is cruel to drop them. |

I would put money on it, but I was on about the other ones off etc.I said Doc, DA, lewis should all be given the chance and stv would get the thumbs up, but I still agree with the channel to opt out, ALONG as it decent and scottish I would care. Hopeful S3 of Vet school get come along for you benefit

I will only believe we are getting the new Midsomers with the new Barnaby when I see the opening credits, Seiko.
However, I hope you can join me, Kezo and Corporatemedia and the staff of the STV management as we "dance in the streets of Aberdeen" to celebrate the good news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() I don't think anyone would ever condemn STV for wanting to make/show its own programmes and opt out of some of the ITV1 shows. But the way it was done - with drama taking the full weight of the cuts - and the poor quality of the clip shows that were shown in their place put up backs from day 1. |

STV put up viewers backs with their "costume drama does not perform well in Scotland" statements and their nonsense about relevance to audiences etc when instead they could have said that
"we are not bringing you this drama series at present, but hope to show it in the future" thereby covering all bases. We did not always get the ITV1 dramas at the same time as the rest of the UK - but we DID get them eventually. The timing for the Lost Dramas amuses me - I expect they may not perform well - and Doc Martin can be a bit adult for that time slot! - so Hain and co will doubtless announce that of course viewers wants are important to them as we have proved by screening these series, but look - very few viewers......so WE KNEW BEST. Oh who cares - take your partners for the 'Downtown Reel'. |

And the afternoon from 3pm would be like this: 3.00 Alan Titchmarsh 4.00 Tropical Heat (same as TT, with a repeat at 11.35pm or after that) 5.00 The Chase 6.00 Local News. |

in 1996: "Tonight with Richard and Judy, which was seen in most parts around 7pm was push to 1.30pm on Scottish From 93 - 98 everything from 7pm slot went to the 5.10pm slot, Thus: 5.10pm; Emmerdale, Price is right, take your pick, lucky numbers 5.40pm ITN news 6pm Home and away 6.25 Scotland today 7pm High road, Machiar, Scottish action, LOCAL! |

Downton FINALLY airs on STV
Not sure whether this has already been mentioned....
Entertainment indusdtry online publisher, c21 Media si reporting that STV has finally acruired broadcast rights to Downton Abbey. STV have confirmed they will be screening series one from August 7th. Furthermore, the STV series one run is scheduled to conclude in order to allow the back-to-back screening with series 2, which premieres on ITV1 on September 18th (and which STV will simulcast with ITV). An STV spokesman told C21: "STV aired a brand new six-part series of Taggart whilst Downton Abbey aired on ITV last year. We were keen to give the premiere of the new Taggart series a consecutive run in the schedule, and it performed brilliantly, pulling in an average audience share of 34% across the run. "We recognise the popularity of Downton Abbey and, editorially, it works really well for our autumn schedule." Source |

Not On BBC Scotland - What are BBC Scotland playing at?
Holby City is expected to be dropped permanently from the schedules up here on the pretence it fares badly in the ratings, not only that but like STV the BBC Scotia intends to opt out and show more relevant local programming in the place of networked offerings.

Now that the dramas are back the opt outs will be very small in number- perhaps the minimum they can get away with under their franchise terms. They’ll take network stuff at 5.00pm, perhaps show a couple of half-hour local programmes some time in the mid evenings/Sunday teatime, the gaelic stuff and perhaps (as UTV does) a longer regional news bulletin at 10.30 Mon-Thurs.

![]() ![]() There are positive signs of life - Downton, series 1 AND 2 are coming our way (the same Mr Hain who told us that 'costume drama does not do well in Scotland' is now 'delighted' to bring viewers the chance to see this series...... ![]() Now, if we could have *live* Vet School every evening I might finaly be able to blow the dust off the 3 button on my remote.......

Opt out NEVER covered any of the legal requirements for the licence, expect the hour, Postcode challenge and some other bits n bob, rest like underbelly do not cover it.
IF STV still had a few opt outs like 7.30pm - 9pm Tues, again on 8-9pm Thursday , Friday at 8pm and still broadcast many of the itv programmes then all will be happy Q: what are stv, opt-out for the next 7 sundays? when we get S1 of DA? |

Seiko - I assumed that ITV1 are repeating series 1 of Downton before broadcasting series 2 - and so STV are not actually opting out of anything. (for once).
I am very worried about that Defender of STV, corporatemedia - aka Angustay. Not a cheap since the news of DA being shown to the Scots. ![]() Is he unwell? Has it all been too much? Does he intend to watch his box set of 'Scotland's Greatest....' while DA is on? I think we should be told.

I wonder if that is the series that we were only allowed to see a couple of episodes of?
Oh well, ITV3 is the place to catch up. |
